So great to hear. Your weight loss is really impressive! Any tips for post-op diet stages?

Thanks love! And yes ma'am. The best advice I can give is to follow your surgeon's directions for each stage and when you get to the regular food stage, do what is sustainable for you. I definitely wouldn't compare what you are eating to anyone else, because everyone's body and how different foods effect them is different. Also what works for some may not work for the next. So if it's working for you regardless of what someone else is doing, keep doing it. And if you do decide to eat a "No no" food, moderation and self control is key :)

Hey friends. Doing an update. I will be sleeved one year on August 17th. I have lost 95lbs. I am 5’2” 26 years old and weigh 138lbs. I am a size 8 in pants/dresses and a medium/small in shirts. I have saggy skin. Luckily it can be hidden with clothes. Photos are before and now.

Problems: I am terrible with my Water intake. I am always exhausted. I have zero energy. I don’t do Pasta or breads: I tend to overdo it and end up vomiting. I am able to eat bad. That’s something I am scared of. Just like before the surgery, I am still constantly thinking about what I am going to put in my mouth. My brain will always have a fat soul. I have to use little plates or else I make my servings too large. I think I am content with my weight now. I need to start exercising. I do not exercise at all. It’s hard to eat well during the summer since I am a teacher. However, during the school year, I am strict with my diet on week days. I allow slip ups on the weekends. I still snack and drink alcohol, but that is just a weekend thing. Still trying to learn how to change my mindset.

So beyond grateful for this surgery and my new life!

    You look amazing!

  3. Hi Debbie! Your BMI would need to be 35 and up with weight related condition(s) or 40+ with no weight related condition. At least that’s how it is with my hospital’s requirements. It varies hospital to hospital and surgeon to surgeon.

I think your best bet will be looking up centers that you are interested in and seeing if you qualify based on their requirements.

There are also people who go to Mexico to have it done but I don’t know much about that process.

    Good luck to you! 💗

I had a lot of nosy coworkers as well. And the gossip about the “unknown” no matter what it was about was outrageous! When I had a previous surgery, I didn’t tell anyone what it was for. The super asked me for auth to disclose to staff and I refused. I loved hearing the rumors about me! Some folks were very inventive in their attempts to get me to “spill”. I never did. Some folks got very angry and expressed their anger to me. I still kept silent.

One of my coworkers actually brought up the issue at a staff mtg. The super asked me to comment. I politely stated that a was overwhelmed with my coworkers concerns, however, my healthcare is a very personal issue and it should remain as such. And that it is never a demonstration of professionalism to share with anyone during working hrs, their personal issues, no matter what they may be. You’re right if you are thinking I was not a personal favorite from then on. However, no coworker ever wasted my time with useless gossip after that.

Oh wow you handled that professionally! Me on the other hand... 😂

You have got to be really entitled to feel like you have to bring up someone else’s personal business in a meeting because you want to know. Wow just wow.

Tomorrow will be two weeks since my EGD. I did call them Friday and since I have been through this before she said she thought I wouldn't have to do the Psych stuff but that they would call me after lunch. No phone call :(

I had to wait approximately a week after finishing my EKG and my labs to schedule the appointment to get my surgery date

I would keep calling. If you wait on them to call you would probably be waiting forever. Don’t worry about bugging them. Sometimes they need reminders or a little push lol.

  6. I definitely know how you feel! As I gained weight I stopped taking care of myself. I stopped doing my hair, dressing up, putting on makeup, and avoided going out unless I had to or if my husband wanted me to go somewhere with him. I felt really self conscious and embarrassed with how I looked and felt like I was the fat girl that everyone stared at and I hated it. Then I got depressed because of my weight and gained even more weight on top of that lol.

Thankfully as I started losing weight I’m started to get back a lot of confidence and find myself wanting to be out more and active. I still have my moments tho, but it’s getting better. Hang in there ❤️

  7. Yep! Add me to the obsessed list lol. Before I even had a referral all I did was research, research, research haha. From forums to YouTube it’s literally all i did. I find out my surgery date on Thursday and I really wish I would have made this decision a lot earlier💗

  8. Hi! A little about me. I am almost 40 pounds down pre op. My surgeon approved me for VSG surgery and I’m going through Kaiser’s Program here in Sacramento. I find out what day my surgery will be on Thursday! So I’m looking at a August date! Would be nice to get to know other ladies who are going through the same program as me or Kaiser in general☺️

  9. I have an appointment in the beginning of May and I’m hoping my doctor will give me a referral. I’m 5’8 and around 274 pounds. I was wondering can anyone tell me the process?

Did I need to have tried a medically supervised diet to qualify? Will my BMI alone be enough to make me eligible? I also have medi-cal.. do you know if they cover the costs? Anything I need to do to prepare for my appointment? I’m so sorry for all the questions! I’ve read some posts but still a little confused. I know that Kaiser NorCal and SoCal process is different and information is so hard to find. I don’t want to get my hopes up and not be eligible or get approved :(

Thank you for all your help!
