  1. Surgery was 4/24. Day of Surgery weight 298, today 263. Walking at least 1 hour or more 6 days a week, noticed that if I am not getting 600 - 800 cals intake per day weight loss stops cold. I also overdid it last week on a walk because I thought I was good and I was wiped out for 2 days. Walking works, walking too far or running or elliptical is a bridge too far at this point. Keep up the good work, the results will come

    I believe everyone has a different trigger symptom for when they are full. Some people get the sniffles,some sneeze, I personally get a series of hiccups and a tightness at the top of my sleeve and I know it is time to quit. I measure everything and eat very slowly, like my doc and NIT want me too and I rarely finish everything I have measured out because I get my symptom and know it's time to stop eating. Good luck with your journey.


  3. I followed a simple High Protein, low carb,(as low as possible), with one exception plan.

    My day looked like this

    BF: Atkin's or Premier high protein zero carb shake

    L: 4 ounces lean protein in lettuce wraps w/ some swiss cheese

    Snack: $ ounces smoked almond's or peanuts or a mix

    Dinner: LARGE, I mean like 3-4 cups mixed salad, lettuce, snow peas, carrots, radish, red grapes, asparagus, etc with italian dressing

    Exception: I allowed myself 2 small scoops of ice cream every night

    I walked some, not overly aggressive exercise, no gym time, just added 10-15 minutes extra walking per day

    I followed this regimen to the T and in the 5 month run up to my pre-op diet I lost 35 pounds and then another 7 on the 2 wee pre-op

  4. Please do not panic. Everyone loses at a different rate and for me lack of calories in led to a minor slow down because my body decided less than 500 cals was a great point to invoke starvation mode. I upped my intake to 800 and immediately started losing again. Most importantly, weigh once a week, not daily, do your weekly measurements so you can see the inches fall away and ....... not a single one of us put on all the weight in 2 weeks, we sure as heck are not gonna see it fall off in 2 weeks....no matter how bad we all want that. Keep doin what you need to, walk, sip and get your Protein in and the rest will take care of itself. Keep the faith, you are doing great

I totally agree, I 'fooled' myself for a long time and then did everything I could to avoid social engagements and now I look in the mirror and don't see what my wife and family are telling me, I still see the same 'big' me. However my wife was nice enough to prove to me what she was saying by wrapping her arms completely around me and touching he own hands together. Then I did an experiment and went into the closet and tried on my clothes that fit 'big' me and had to laugh when the pants fell off, even though they were buttoned. The struggle with how we perceive ourselves is real, but I think I will continue to use NSVs to remind myself that this is working.

    Same issue here, it is the gas leaving your body, coupled with the Clear Liquids only, once all the excess gas moves out and your diet progresses this will end. Walk, walk and more walking will help speed this process

I am very happy I am not running into alot of the issues others seem to be having with the nausaua or Constipation. I am getting down more then enough Water between Water, tea and Soup.

    I also find I feel better when up and walking then when sitting.

    One question, do your surgeons forbid you from having any pain relief other then acetaminophen ? I know all the programs are different and I am wondering if mine is overly cautious or not

    My surgery was 4/24 and I was getting the heavy pressure with swallowing, I started taking slightly smaller sips and paying attention to my body position when swallowing and as long as I was vertical, even when sitting, or just like you, walking, the Fluid went down just fine. If I was the slightest bit bent of slouched I would feel that pressure.

    I was given Oxy for pain but stopped that after the hospital and am just using liquid Tylenol as needed, walking 1 mile 2X per day seems to help alleviate the pain for me

    The Fluid intake seems to be the hardest. I am essentially doing the fluid challenge I had to do at the hospital 1/2 cup (4oz) an hour. It is hard but it has gotten a little easier with consistency. You can do this, just keep the bottle, cup, etc in your hand and remember 3 sips every 15 minutes should do the trick

    Surgery done, back home yesterday. Sipping and walking, never knew how hard it would be to swallow tiny sips, but getting through it
