  1. It’s been going well... but has been TOUGH!! I am totally fine during the day but at night I want to eat the whole house! It’s probably because I need to add more shakes- actually one of the hardest parts has been getting 4-5 shakes in!! I start my official pre op diet next Monday- I just decided to do a modified one with shakes during the day and low carb dinner on my own so I could ease into it. The shake above is some vanilla protein powder ( my co op sells it in bulk so no clue on the brand) blended with huckleberries
  2. Oy! Ok so that was harder than I thought it would be! Definitely going to have to make a schedule- my group says 4-5 shakes per day- I had trouble getting down three. I had a big salad for dinner and had some chicken broth for a snack. AND!!! I did not cheat!! Only one day but it’s going to be a one day at a time thing for sure.
  3. Michael S- Aug 12 in the house!!!!
  4. AnnieD78 We are surgery twins!!!! Aug 12 I am getting my VSG!!!
  5. Our office bases it on your BMI-I am required to do a two week diet with 6-8 shakes per day. I am actually starting out with the plan for the BMI higher than mine which is 4 shakes and a low carb meal for two weeks and then the two week shake only diet. ( I am also adding veggies for snacks for the first week) I have a LOT of bad habits and just thought it would be better to transition like this.
  6. Me!!!! Just got word a few mins ago of insurance approval!! August 12 is the date for me!!
  7. TurboTorrey It felt like FOREVER waiting- but was really only a week or so. Yes, they give you a surgery date before sending to insurance for approval- guess insurance needs to see that there is a date to approve. I was a little worried about insurance but the gal who I was scheduling with said that at this point it’s pretty much a formality because the office goes over all the info to make sure it’s in order before submitting to insurance and they know what to look for to make sure you have a good chance for approval. She said insurance has up to 2 weeks to approve it so we should hear about that probably sometime next week. Getting pretty excited!!!
  8. TurboTorrey I just got the call a few mins ago!!! My date is August 12!!!! Took about 4 days for Dr Rawlins to Review and that was his first opening- maybe we will be the same day!!
  9. VSGhopeful- I saw dr Rawlins too he was super nice and easy to talk to. I also loved the nutrition consult too, I was totally prepared to not like her cause every dietician appt I have ever had has been a rough experience- but everyone I worked with was awesome and super supportive. I over in Moscow (ID) so did all my pre reqs locally too. Maybe we will be surgery buddies!!!
  10. Hey Trudyt623, VSG is the gastric sleeve, one of the Bariatric surgery options. Your surgeon will go over what it means and any other options they provide. Good luck!!
  11. I think that may be for self pay. My total cost after insurance (UHC) is only $268!!!! (After my deductible is met- they have some agreements with some insurance companies that significantly reduces the cost and then I pay 10% with my plan) That is including the hospital fees... so depending on your insurance it can be pretty great. They will send you something about a week or so after your visit from the hospital that says what your cost is going to be. ( I just finished all my pre op requirements- just waiting for Dr Rawlins to go over it and then they will give me a surgery date.. they said that once you get everything done it takes a week or so for the dr to review and then they are booking out 6-8 weeks)
  12. Tell me your This is why story! Here is one of mine from this past weekend ( I am in the beginning stages of this journey) My husbands birthday is coming up and so I got us tickets to go see Jim Gaffigan as a surprise. We went to dinner before and were cutting it pretty close, the event was at the event center at a local college and by the time we were trying to park they were full. So we ended up parking about a mile away 10 mins before the show was starting. A little background on my husband, he weights 160 soaking wet and walks an average of 10 miles a day at work. I on the other hand am seeing 282 on the scales these days and sit at a desk working from home all day. So we are trying to hurry, and EVERYTHING is uphill, then once we finally made it into the event center we had to climb to the balcony. By the time we found our seats I was covered in sweat ( which totally ruled out taking any cute selfies before the show) I could barely breathe,my throat was on fire and my feet and legs were yelling at me... it sucked! I couldn’t even laugh at first because I was still hurting from breathing so hard. (Although once my body calmed down I had a great night) The whole walk there and the whole walk back I just kept telling myself THIS is why! I can’t wait to free my body of all the pounds that keep me from really enjoying life. Next time it will just be a nice walk we share together on the way to a great evening. Have you you had any This why moments? I would love to hear them

I am looking into the VSG, I totally understand the sedentary life, working from home sounds great (and in a lot of ways it is) but I swear i can go days with only getting in 200 steps. I can't wait to finally weigh even the same as my husband lol! I was super tiny up until I had my first kid, always around 135... now I am 284... looking forward to finding that body again. I hope you get to hold that baby in your arms soon!! That would be the best reward for such hard work!!

Oh man! I have been there- so many times just looking at that weight limit and wondering if I would really break the ride and whats worse, not playing with my kids or the embarrassment of having the park shut down a slide because I was too fat....I am so excited for us both to get to enjoy it all!!

So scary!!! My son has had type 1 since he was 3, so i know how hard it can be to stay on top of- way to go!!!
  18. This will be my first visit with the surgeon, I have already done the seminar. They are having me meet with the surgeon and dietitian as well as their coordinator all in one visit since I am from out of town. Thanks for all the info!! I am pretty sure I’m going with VSG. I don’t really have any co-morbibities just a BMI of 43, so hopefully there won’t be too much to get done I am really starting to get excited, I have not seen the scale at less than 225 since I had my daughter... who is graduating next year!! So ready to make this happen!!
  19. I am scheduled for my first visit May 6th!! I live down in Moscow ID- so cool to see some locals on here I have already completed my 6 mo diet for insurance- what other things will they require from Rockwood before a surgery date is set? I was thinking a GI scope but was wondering what else..
