I'm four months out (gastric bypass on Feb 13) and I, too, feel a difference at the 4-month point. I'm starting to crave the foods I used to really like and I'm frustrated that emotional eating might start. I find I can eat more than before and it's not good. I don't feel sick with chest discomfort anymore when I eat, which IS good, but I had a chocolate chip cookie yesterday and ate it all with no consequences in the gut department. NOT good. I definitely feel as if the honeymoon phase has ended. I am also frustrated because I severely injured my tailbone on Monday and am in a ton of pain...can't sit, can't stand, can't walk....not getting my steps in. Also, this morning I woke up and noticed I'm just starting to lose hair and my hair has always been thin--can't afford to lose any! I should NOT be complaining so much as my 50-pound loss is truly fantastic, but I am a bit nervous at the 4-month point I am praying there is no regression.
I am so proud of my Feb friends hearing about your successes, but also hearing about your challenges. I am so encouraged to hear that my struggles are not alien and that others are working through the same issues I am. Not that I want any of you to have struggles, but it feels good that I'm not alone!

Thanks, but I’m still over 185 pounds.
Goal is to land between 145-150.

I’m almost freaking out hearing some of you guys are close to goal because I feel as if I’m MILES away from that.
However I’ve been such a slow loser all this time so I guess it’s to be expected.
Wow I can’t wait to hear from you guys as you cross the finish line!

Mind you, I’ll be bringing up the rear, but I’ll get there eventually

I thought because I had lots of hair this wouldn't be a problem. WRONG! I'm losing tons of hair! I went and bought Vitamins, Shampoo & conditioner. I sure hope it doesn't get real bad.

I started losing hair last week. I am also taking Biotin. From what I understand, the hair died a long time ago - when we were in the starvation phase. Now the new hair is starting to come in and it's pushing the old dead hair out. That is good news! Our biotin won't prevent the loss necessarily, but it will help the new hair grow in healthier.

    I still fluctuate on this.
Some days it feels like the hungry monster has ahold of me and I want to snack between my 2 meals/1 snack daily.
When that happens, I go for things like a cheese stick or boiled egg or 2 tablespoons hummus and carrots, or a glass of milk. The key is to avoid carbs during these “hungry” moments.

The other day at work I ate 1 boiled egg, 1 cheese stick, 1 pouch tuna, 1 cup milk , 1 beef Jerky stick and 3 hot pickes in a 12 hour shift. This is a LOT of food for me still and I was starting to get upset at my hunger. Oh yea, and somehow I also managed to drink 56 ounces of Water during the same time period.
The incredible part was that my body was still craving “more”. I steadfastly refused to give it anything carb-y or lacking in nutrients and finally the cravings settled down. I would force myself to drink 8 ounces of water and wait 30 minutes once the hunger signals started before I would cave and eat something.

Today I’ve had 1/2 cup cottage cheese, 1 single meatball, and some milk in morning coffee and I just tried to drink water (it’s been 90 minutes since my lunch) and couldn’t drink more than 4 ounces water before the overstretched full feeling made me back off.
The thought of eating anything right now brings on a feeling of vague nausea.

No idea why I’m experiencing swings like this 2 days apart. 🤷‍♀️

On the upside, I think the weight loss is starting again. I’m down from 189.4 on Thursday to 186.6 today.
Thank goodness the 3 month stall is behind me.

I started losing a lot of hair daily. Luckily it’s thick, so I have some wiggle room. I’m taking double my Biotin and collagen, but it doesn’t seem to matter. I think it boils down to Protein and Water intake, which I’m sucking at. Had some major trigger events two weeks in a row and I noticed I had been eating carbs a lot more than I had been. The last three days I’ve hardly eaten anything, as my stomach is either upset or I just don’t have a desire to eat. Which is probably the cause of my feeling tired a lot. I’m also goi g to see if my Dr can run my labs. I’m thinking I might be a bit anemic.
Everyday is a new day to start back on track though. So here’s hopping tomorrow is better.
I did have a NSV. I now weigh well below the required weight limit to do indoor skydiving. I went this last Saturday for the first time ever. It was fun, but nerve racking as the flight suit was a little snug in the hips area. But never the less I did it! I also pulled out last years shorts and they are too loose on me! That is another positive NSV. Trying to stay on the positive side, even though the tummy is not happy right now.
Hope we all have a better June!

    Congrats on breaking that stall!

Today I hit my mini goal of 189lbs! Yay!!

I have not been sticking strictly to plan, bites here and there of things I don’t normally eat, not drinking enough, eating too many calories in nuts and eating too much in general. Today I’m committing to getting in 100oz of Water and cleaning up my eating. Getting back to serious business!!

I am happy to say my stall is broken! Weighed myself today and I dropped almost 10lbs this week!! 😱I went back and tried to focus on getting more Protein and Water in and I finally started back at the gym. Going to keep focusing on the protein and water intake and see if this continues.
Thanks everyone for the encouragement and ideas! Hope you are all having a wonderful week!

Water kicked me out of my stall. I just wasn't drinking enough, I knew I wasn't but I had no taste for it. I wasn't getting a lot of liquids in period. So I downloaded the baritastic app and set a timer for every 10 mins between certain hours to drink and since then I have been on a steady losing streak. I went from getting 48 to 64 Fluid ounces up to 96 to 120 per day and it was easy with the reminder to drink. Good luck with breaking the stall.

The scales say I have lost a lb this morning, though I'm not going to believe it till it's the same or lower for a few days. I'm starting to get the hair shed... 3 months, that's about right. Fortunately, even though I have fine hair, I have a lot of it. It's temporary - it'll grow back.

Hi Transforming_T--welcome to the group! I believe taylormom6 is correct. I'm pretty sure no one in this group has lost an average of 70 lbs post op. I had gastric bypass on February 13 and personally have lost about 35 pounds. I do not exercise much, but I do try to get out and walk around 5,000 steps a day. According to the Internet, that's an "underactive" person. Ha! It's much more active than before!
I think you're doing great, but it's a bummer about your stall since April 9...maybe you are resetting? You lost a lot of weight since surgery! Sorry about the Hair loss. Is it coming out in clumps? My hair is super thin and I am started to feel it thinning even more.... fortunately no clumps yet, just thinning more where the part is. So sad.
Overall I'm doing well, but still dealing with a lot of wind, some cramping, some chest pressure, some frustration...I guess better than some, as I know some in our group are wrestling with horrible nausea.

Just wanted to pass along tidbits I heard from my bariatric support group tonight. I have to go to three sessions and so one more to go. I have no idea if what the group shared is true or not, but I want to pass the info along to y'all in case it's helpful. First, vitamin patches. The NUT that runs the group says research shows it only provides Vitamin D and no other Vitamins. I don't use the patch but some of you may want to and look into this further. The NUT does not recommend getting vitamins through the patch. Second, my surgeon told another person in my group that the Ursodial reduces your chance of developing gall stones from 30% to 3%. Guess I'll keep taking those nasty capsules. Finally, one person who is stalling said she heard that taking in more Protein helps with stalls.

Ok y'all - I'm going to brag a little (not that my willpower had ANYTHING to do with this, but...) I'M AT A HEALTHY WEIGHT RANGE!!!!!!!!! Ok so this is unclothed, and in the morning, but still! First time in TEN years for me. Hoping it sticks because sometimes I'll drop down then bounce up and back down a few pounds. But this was my lowest weight yet so I'm celebrating!
I was supposed to have a follow up today, but it's almost a 6-hour round trip drive for me to my Dr and I totally forgot! I have SO much going on right now and I'm exhausted most of the time. Started a new job and that has been a huge adjustment because I was only working here and there before. House I'm renting is on the market and I have to show it every day and has to be in pristine condition or I break my lease. End of school year, end of school parties, buying a new house week after next, my daughter made cheer and has practice EVERY day, my son gets his driver's license in the morning, I'm selling some land in TX and we close on that next week... on and on. Always so busy!!!
My thing is the wine. When I get stressed or have all this going on, I drink. I'm looking forward to getting moved in June and all of this crap settling down. Hopefully no addition transfer and when I do drink it's not much (It does hit me harder). I think I'd rather shop or gamble than drink but either way... probably not good!

Hey welcome to the group as an official poster!
Secondly, CONGRATS on your successes to this point. So many times we tend to overlook the good things we’ve done because they aren’t “good enough” at this point to satisfy us.

Goodness gracious you’ve dropped TWENTY PERCENT of your body weight so far which is amazing progress! Give yourself a pat on the back and then go over any journals or food diaries that you have and see where things were going “better” and “not-as-better”. Maybe you can spot a trend?

For me, my biggest hurdles are stress and sleep and usually they hold hands together to try to derail me.
The studies on increased levels of cortisol and its effects on weight loss are downright depressing when you take a look at them.

Also, if you’ve been bobbing for 5 weeks, time to schedule an appt with your nutritionist/doctor/therapist/trainer just to be sure that there’s not something that you’re missing.

This week I redoubled my efforts to log food and Water and I even journaled in my personal diary for a bit this morning because I don’t want to allow myself to fall into a negative head space.
I also went out and cut some herbs from my garden and put them in a vase. It took about 5 minutes and it made me feel more positive about the day. Besides, I made hubs take the scale away for 10 days, so I got to save those 5 minutes by not agonizing on the scale this morning. 🤣🤣🤣

Take a deep breath, take a walk, smell some flowers. We will figure out how to do this thing.

Gaby: I had the same transfer problem when I was off for the 6weeks after surgery. Couldn’t eat so I was gambling heavily on sports. When I went back to work and was busier I slowly did it less and less. Not sure if there is something else to occupy your mind but I get your feeling of wanting to spend !

In response to the average weight loss question, my weight on Jan 1 was 363, operation weight on feb 12 was 347 and current weight 287. So I guess overall weight loss at 3months is 60lbs and since my heaviest 73lbs. I am a little younger than most (I think) 36yrs old and work in a very active field (construction). Although I am pretty loose with guidelines

Transforming, I don’t thing most Feb surgeries have lost 70lbs.

I’m a revision from sleeve to rny, 2/12/19, and I’ve lost 40lbs since surgery, 50 including the preop diet. I lost 28lbs in the 6 months leading up to the preop diet though.

Hi everyoneI I don't think I've posted in here before. I'm more of a lurker. I had surgery on Feb 6, 2019. I'm 5' 6". My HW was 323, SW was 305, and I'm currently bobbing between 268-273. I've been stalled at the bobbing point since April 9th. My question is, I see a lot of you have lost 70+ lbs. Does this seem to be the average for most all of us who had surgery in Feb? I know starting weight is a factor, as well as age and many other things. I'm being honest with my self here, I don't work out like I need to be (Low energy). i'm loosing inches though. I'm down 27 inches from my surgery. Which is what's keeping me somewhat sane. Also my hair started falling out two weeks ago 😕 I knew it was possible, so I wasn't too shocked about it.
Point of all this is; How and where is everyone in their journey?

Everythinganna--same for me! I have SO many places I wanted to go for Mother's Day but then I realized...meh...it wouldn't be worth it. I love looking over menus but hate wasting food so I usually just pick from my husband's plate and try to make eating 6 bites last as long as possible. I ordered a kid's quesadilla from Chili's the other night and it was way too greasy. I was good and ordered the steam broccoli as a side and got the chocolate milk so my husband could have it. I picked the cheese off and downed some broccoli stems and then I was like, I'm done! I was shocked at how much my daughter and husband could eat in that same amount of time. Don't the portions look so huge and overwhelming when ya'll go out to eat now? Amazing.

This is lunch today. Homemade egg drop soup! A cup of stock (vege, cause I'm trying to go back to vegetarianism) a little soy sauce, black pepper, pinch of turmeric, a little coconut oil, a pinch of nutritional yeast. Wait for it to boil then drop a couple of beaten eggs in slowly while stirring vigorously.

Warm, tasty, cures my ramen cravings and easy on the pouch! Yay, something I actually enjoy eating for once! Lol.

Hi All: Is anyone documenting their journey on YouTube? I love watching videos of weight loss surgery patients documenting their process. I'f you are, could you share your "channel" as I'd love to subscribe to you if you're doing this? I took a few videos first for myself as I think it will be great to look back on a year+ from now. Then, I decided I'd go ahead and share publicly as the ones I've watched of others have been a tremendous help to me. I'm not good at talking (much better with a keyboard) but oh well. It's kind of fun and I think will keep me motivated along the way.
