  1. 1 month out, on soft foods as well... for me its intense gas pains that start after the first swallow. It makes it so uncomfortable to eat that eventually I'm like screw it. Do these pains go away as well. It's making me HATE food. Now I know we are supposed to have a new relationship with food but I dont look forward to eating anymore to be honest

  2. Hey you look awesome!

I have a goal of getting down AT LEAST 125lbs. Starting weight was 320 so 200lbs for a first goal seems realistic as well as attainable. Once I get there I will reevaluate how i feel and look and then maybe I'll tweak my goal a bit. I was never on any meds like you, but I really like that goal you set. I just want to get to a place where I feel good and I can maintain it too.

  3. Yes. I’m almost 4 months out and just this last weekend me and hubs took my MIL to a bday party for a friend who was turning 80.
The food was amazing and plentiful and I went through the buffet line and put a smidge of almost everything on my plate.
One single bite of homemade slaw and potato salad and macaroni salad was delish and I was able to stop with the single forkful of each. Oh and the pulled pork and smoked turkey was the main course on my plate. I didn’t use any sauce and not one single person noticed and it didn’t feel weird.
I made sure to savor every bite and chewing slowly was a benefit, not a curse.

I even had 2 Cheetos which were quite honestly disappointing: my memory of them were better than the actual thing. 🤣🤣
When it was time for cake, I took a very small slice and ate half of it and I promise that I didn’t feel deprived or stupid or the center of attention. Everyone was happy to be here gathering for a dear friend and was having a good time and focusing on one random friend of the families eating habits was not on anyone’s agenda.

Quite simply nobody noticed and/or cared what I ate or didn’t eat at the end of the day.
    Thanks for this [emoji173]

So at about what point are we able to eat things like cucumbers, tomatoes, or raw zucchini? Of course with the understanding that everyone's tolerance is different.

My Bariatric Surgery Book (written/given to me by my surgeon and nutritionist) says that I can eat that one week after my surgery. I had my VSG Surgery on 5/13/19 and have been been eating all of those veggies and fruits since 5/20/19. Everything has gone smoothly for me so far. 👍🏻

Omg really?!?!? 1 week?!?! I'm still on liquids &3 weeks later pureed foods so still not solids. I thought it was cause your stomach couldn't handle it??? How did your pouch respond?

  5. The head hunger is real! And not being able to eat anything chewable (other than my multi vitamin) is trying. I keep reminding myself that this is only a brief season in my life. Each mushy/liquidy meal I consume is one step closer to being able to eat a scrambled egg. And I'm sure by the time the soft food stage is done, I'll be having to remind myself that I'm only a few egg/cottage cheese meals away from something with real texture. Distraction is good, hope is better. And every morning when I take my meds, I am reminded why I'm doing this... I'm down 3 meds already and my blood sugars have been super steady in the normal zone. That motivates me.
Just taking it one day at a time is hugeeeeee! Thanks for the awesome perspective.

I have no advice, only empathy. I still struggle 9 months out. I just haven't been able to master this part of the journey. 94 lbs down though which I'm so grateful for. I keep logging my food, even the crap food I unfortunately take in at times which keeps me aware of the choices I'm making and how much it increases my calorie and carb intake. I just keep working on managing it the best I can. I'm not giving up. Best of luck to you.

Thanks for the well wishes! &that's awesome about the weight loss! Keep it up

I think a big part of it is the actual chewing sensation. We have our teeth to chew something on after all, LOL.

How long is your liquid/mushy phase? Mine was 4 weeks and it tremendously helped to know that after 4 weeks it would be over. Limited time periods are easier on the mind than "forever" or "never again".

What I also noticed was a craving for salty things (the Protein Drinks are usually either sweet or neutral in taste).

    4-6 weeks

I'm SOOOO grateful that the actual hunger is gone or I dont think I would make it lol. I try to change it up from the Protein Shakes to the chicken broth to give me some variance. &it DEF helps that one day, one day soon I can have that burger. But of course a couple bites lol

  8. Oh, I know this feeling!
It's really rough the first month. food didn't bother me till the 5th day and was obsessed with looking at recipes.
I know if it was me, I would want to swallow that burger, so for me, I wouldn't have done it. Honestly, it probably would be really painful at this point. By the beginning of the 3rd week I was getting small amounts of Protein.
I'm 3 months out and can eat about 3/4 cup at a time.
I wish you all the best!
Hey Gabybab! Thanks for the insight it's really appreciated. I know I can make it, it's just sometimes your brain can really get to you lol! I like to feel full so I think just tasting the food wouldn't give me what I need either lol

  9. So I am sitting in my bed and my head hunger is whining about a cheeseburger. I am 7 days PO and a thought crossed my mind.

Do I crave the cheese burger's taste? Could I satisfy this craving bt chewing a burger and spitting it out?

    Or

Do I crave the entire act of eating chewing and swallowing.

Has anyone ever tried the first method? Again just curious, its 1130 where I am and I am NOT getting out of my bed to test the theory.

  10. First, If your story is real, and you are not a troll,
please get help. You are dealing with some deep seated mental health issues that need professional help.

  11. I think it would be helpful to seek professional help at this point. It just seems as if you needed the bypass you weren't loosing weight by yourself &couldnt. You must see what you GAINED and not what's lost which seems to be alot of grief about food(which clearly was your issue to begin with)
