That's good to hear, @Losingit2018! I was getting pretty nervous. I even called my hospital where I had surgery to ask, but since its the weekend, the specialists weren't in the office. I am still going to call Monday, though. I am not sure if I should be sticking to 100ml or if its okay to do 100ml-200ml per half hour.

Tomorrow will have been a week since surgery. I've lost roughly 7.5lbs so far! *happy dance*

    Wow!! You are doing great!
Early out it is good to keep in mind that there is still a lot of healing to do. Many times it just takes patience to heal before we know exactly how things are going to be for us in the long run. Always a good idea to call dr with any concerns that we have.
    keep up the good work!!

sometimes it feels like the VSG full pressure and sometimes it feels like everything could come back up with one more bite.

Exactly the same feeling for me. Plus if I dare take even a sip of liquid after a meal it causes pain for me. I learned quickly and now I wait at least 45 mins to an hour.

So I went to Sams yesterday to buy a box of Premier Protein shakes. $17 and some change for a 12 pack. I spotted Fairlife Protein Shakes for $15 and some change. I bought the Fairlife choclate with 30 gm of Protein and it is pretty good stuff. I will be drinking this brand from now on.

I am staying in the 600 to 700 calorie range and getting my 60 gm of Protein in each day. I am not having any issues getting in my liquids . I am also on a Vitamin regimen which is going fine also.

Still having pain on right side. If I stay still I am fine. Coughing or laughing hurts.

I had all of those weird pains in the first few months too. I was fine after I healed. Until what feels like a sore stomach muscle started up. Hoping it is still part of the healing process and not something like a hernia.

  4. You are doing well. I really wonder if the lack of full sensation could still be that your nerves need to heal. I get full quickly now on one scrambled egg and definitely feel it. If I eat 1/2 slice of bacon I am only able to eat 1/2 egg without feeling horribly uncomfortable.

You just had surgery and already thinking of eating crap

If you had taken the time to really read the post. The ricotta bake may taste like pizza as the poster mentioned but the ricotta bake is healthy and surgery friendly.
why not try being positive with people for a change rather than always making negative or bashing posts?
Believe it or not the day may come when you need help or encouragement. People here may end up treating you just as you have treated them.

  6. These work really, really well for me but they just went up in price. I have been taking one in the morning and one at night.

What kind of diet are you doing
? Still all liquid or soft too!?
I have had an issue with Water my entire sleeve process. I hope this isn’t that bad. What foods do you find issues with? Does it pass right thru you? That’s what I’m worried about ... eating and then running to the toilet etc.
how does one take pills now. Does that get better.
I cannot do liquid meds. Makes me gag and I’m on lexapro liquid. Two nights not can’t do it. Had to cut my pills in 1/4 and do it that way for now.
I really need to set up Vitamin regime too.

I am 6 months out now and on a regular high protein/low carb diet. I do not have trouble drinking and food does not go right through me. I have always tended to have Constipation problems anyway. I take Miralax every day. I have had maybe twice in the last 6 months that I needed to get to the bathroom quickly. Usually movements are normal though.
I still have trouble eating things like steak, pork or smoked sausage if it has the skin on it. Nothing horrible or too hard to avoid though. I get very full on small amounts of dense Protein. If I eat too fast and/ or too much it makes me sick.

remember that your pyloric(sp?)valve is no longer intact like it was with the sleeve so you should not have trouble drinking with bypass.

one word of advice is to take Probiotics. I take them daily and could be another reason that I am able to stay regular.

My surgeon said no lifting more then 20 lbs, which I thought was a lot. Patients didn't have to wear masks, just the staff .

Now you are the first person I have spoke with that has known someone with covid. Glad your family is okay and didn't get all the horrible things the media talks about.

There is a person that lives in my neighborhood that has covid. Now you know two :)

You are giving people bad information about the bypass when it was your 2nd surgery not your first.

I had the RNY BYPASS and had not one issue and below my goal weight already and doing amazing!!

Since when is stating facts about ones experience considered bad information. I call it facts and like to hear all sides. Not everyone has perfect experience like you did.

Being her second surgery means squat.

I hear you, I know we both are. I'm reading some of the challenges and they're a bit scary. I'm considering bypass and I didn't know I'd be on supplements the rest of my life. And the Hair loss. Lol. But anything that helps will be worth it, I think.

Wow. I hope you don't mind me asking. Since you were able to lose that before surgery, did you reconsider having the surgery? I think if I'm able to get on a good path and lose a bit on my own, I might keep on going on my own. Surgery just seems so drastic to me still. But again I've been doing this for so many years, it prob is time for that step.

Taking Vitamins each day is not hard at all. If you did have some Hair loss, it would only be temporary.
You need to do this for your health. The health issues that arise due to obesity can be quite serious and even deadly. At the very least it will shorten your lifespan if you choose to stay in the obese range.

Do it while you are young. You will not regret it. ;)

  11. Having wls is not at all giving in. It takes courage and the strong desire to be healthy to put yourself through major surgery. We have all struggled with yo yo dieting. Losing the weight only to put it back in plus more.

This is not your fault. Some of it has to do with genetics. Plus once we put weight on our bodies reach a set point. It thinks this is the weight we are supposed to be so will literally fight us to get back to original weight.

it is great that you are already in therapy. A good bit of our food issues are in our heads. You will do well to get your head straight before surgery. The surgery is just a tool. There is still a lot of work to be done on our part to not only lose the weight but also to maintain.

hang in there. You got this and we are here to support you.

I am home, showered, and taking it easy. I am going to be on full liquids for 2 weeks. I am going to go slow as far as food and progression because I have read where quite a few by passers have problems with different stuff in the beginning. Hope that I can still drink premiere Protein Shakes and will be finding out within the hour.

Also I can already feel differences in the 2 surgeries. The sleeve had restriction from the start and I could not even drink but a few sips. This by pass is not like that at all I can drink with no problems. I just taking it slow though

It was odd for me. I had no problem with premier with sleeve. I could not tolerate them after bypass at all. It was like they were too fizzy ( if that makes sense) and made me very nauseous. Hopefully you will be able to tolerate them well.

You are correct to take things slow. 7 months out and I am still finding food that I can’t tolerate but did fine with before bypass. Nothing quite like getting that sick feeling after eating something that does not agree with you. The first 2-3 months were hard when it came to finding foods that I could tolerate. It does get easier though.

another odd thing was that I could feel the mesh. It didn’t hurt but I knew it was there.

My drain is still in and made a bloody mess on the gown and bed. Thank you for your words of encouragement. I am just lost on how to do this and they gave me Yoplait yogurt with 20 grams of sugar so I am confused

I never had a drain with either surgery. I am familiar with them as I took care of my sisters drains after breast reduction surgery.

Did you get a diet to follow from your dr?

Hang in there! It will get better.

My first night after revision was awful as well because the pain management sucked (that's the difference between ICU and IMC I guess...). However, after the drain was out the next day, things got better at once.

Right. It just infuriates me that drs and hospitals will not manage pain very well after major surgery. It’s not only hard to deal with but it impedes healing.

  15. Walking will help with the gas. You are doing good to do 3 laps! I didn’t have enough breath to barely make one lap after my revision. I am so sorry that you are in so much pain.
They did give me the injections in my stomach that kept my stomach numb and I think that helped a lot.
Hang in there. As you know from past experience it will get easier as you go.

  16. I have hypothyroid and have had sleeve surgery. Had to revise to bypass because of severe GERD.

I have had much more success with the bypass although I did lose weight with the sleeve. If I had it to do all over again, I would go straight for bypass. Mostly because of the high rate of gerd among people that are sleeved. I also believe that the bypass is just a much better surgery as far as losing weight. It has been for me.

Those are what I have - they might grow on me lol ;) they were gross last night

I read in some of the Amazon comments in my link that a few people got a bad batch that tasted horrible. Maybe that happened to you? They taste like sweet tarts to me. I like them a lot. Of course your tastes could be different than mine as well

I do not have to take any other Vitamins with these like you see others posting. My blood work is perfect so far.
