    Questions about eating

I had conversion from sleeve to bypass on 11/22. I have also had a hard time finding things that will sit well in my stomach. I am not even able to drink the same shakes that I drank after my sleeve. I saw my dr at the 4 week mark. He said not to worry as long as I can get my fluids and at least 60 grams of protein in. I do this by making sure that I drink two shakes per day. I have never been one to eat dark meat poultry but I did break down and try a drumstick from a rotisserie chicken. That ended up being the easiest meat that I have tried so far. try to get your protein and fluids in even if by shakes. Hopefully you will be able to tolerate more meat at a later time. I do eat a few bites of meat at dinner with my husband but I really can’t eat much at all. you are not alone

Sleeve to bypass weight loss concern

That’s not true at all. I did choose to revise to bypass partly because I had not lost enough weight with sleeve. However, I was excellent candidate for linx procedure. I opted to do it then changed my mind a few days later. My original surgery was sleeve. oops I now see that you were speaking of lnf and not linx. Sorry
  4. Awesome! I really am sorry that your mother treats you this way. I know that it will all come back to her in the end when she is old and lonely. concentrate on yourself and try to forget about her and any other toxic people in your family. Sadly you can’t change or control them. Only yourself.
  5. Those 3 months will pass quickly. I know that you must be disappointed but you have to believe that the surgeon knows best. You definitely don’t want complications if you can help it. Hang in there.

    Gastric sleeve 12/13/19

This list may help you if you weren’t given one. Sure enough rice is listed under soft foods. It is not recommended on my plan though. https://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/gastric-bypass-surgery/in-depth/gastric-bypass-diet/art-20048472

    Gastric sleeve 12/13/19

Maybe but it is also a carb with little nutritional value. I personally would not eat it in weight loss phase.

    Nicotine. Tests

Not true. I quit after a 37 year habit. Took mic test about 30 days later and passed. nicotine is an addictive substance so I guess you could say we were poisoning our body much like most here were doing it with food

    Lost it all

So sorry to hear this. Any chance you could afford to cobra your insurance long enough to have surgery? If not and you are able to get another job soon, the hurdles you have already jumped through to get approved will still count on your next insurance. Still very sorry to hear this.

    Help

Trying to be as delicate as possible but it sounds like you may be plugged at the end of the colon if you are feeling pain and like you should be able to go. An enema really may be your best bet. I am a long term chronic pain patient and have dealt with this issue for years. I understand how painful and scary it can be. Once you get sorted out you may want to stay on the stool softner

    Help

If it’s only two days, try some milk of magnesia before you go to bed. I had horrible issues with constipation. I take miralax in my coffee every morning and also take dulcolax every few days. You may also want to start on a good probiotic. I went for 5 days no bm. Dr told me to try the milk of magnesia. Enema and magnesium citrate. The enema worked well. If you try several options and nothing works, give your dr a call on Thursday. Good luck!

    Red jello

No red because it shows up as veins in X-ray I specifically asked about this.
  13. Yay. Glad to hear that you are doing g well. I had mine ( sleeve to rny) on 11/22. It was a little rough at first but getting better by the day.

    Coughing after eating

I had Vsg back in March 2018. I got a dry cough afterwards. Didn’t pay much attention to it until I had a very bad reflux episode. I then found out that cough was actually food particles coming up into my esophagus. Very common with gerd. Not that this is what you are experiencing but it may be worth mentioning to your dr if it persists. the best way I can describe the cough is that it felt like I had breathed something in and my lungs were trying to expel it.

    To Whey or Whey not?

Hmmmm I don’t think that I have. I do have arthritis in several areas of my body. Not sure if whey makes it worse or not. Have you noticed this to be true?

    OOTD

Umm...... could you tell me where you are swollen? If you are swollen here, I can’t even imagine how good you must look not swollen!! 😁
  20. Not sure about food but, I used vitamin e oil after my sleeve with good results. This is what I plan to do since my recent revision once incisions are healed enough as well. The oil is pricey. I just get the bit e vitamins and cut one end of the gel capsule to apply. Much less expensive this way.

    Second thoughts

You will be able to eat those foods again at some point. Once you lose the weight and are feeling great, you may choose to pass on the unhealthy stuff though.

    I'm so upset, I'm a slow loser

I agree. I am a slow loser and still have plenty of saggy, baggy skin.

    I lost 202 pounds in 12 months!

Wow!!! You did an amazing job and look great!!! Big congratulations to you!
  24. I am not in nj but, have you looked on vitals and healthgrades site? There are real people there giving honest reviews of drs and surgeons. I have had much success choosing medical professionals just from the reviews. Hooefully someone from your area will chime in here soon. Good luck to you!

    Recurring Hunger (2 Weeks Post-Op)?

This is normal at this stage. We are not able to eat enough at each meal to keep us satisfied. I saw my dr at my 4 week mark and was told that I will feel like I am grazing at first. Once the swelling goes down I will be able to eat just 3 meals per day and 2 healthy snacks when needed. I feel that it is best to eat when truly hungry rather than let appetite get out of control and eat something I shouldn’t or eat too much.
