    What are you BINGEING????

I don’t know anyone who hasn’t watched it! I was late to the party and binged 4 (I think?) seasons in 5 weeks or so until I caught up halfway through the final season. My husband and I were going to bed sooo late, we’d finish an episode and find ourselves having to watch the next one to see what happened. It was weird when we caught up and had to wait to find out! @BayougirlMrsS I agree Mad Men was/is a great show, it was darker than I expected. The decor and fashion, which I love, remind me so much of my Mom when I was a kid. (I was born in 1960). I really love mid century modern furniture.

    Cancer Weight Gain

First of all great news on beating cancer! Were you are are you currently on steroids or any meds that can contribute to weight gain? I had surgery 6 years post cancer, so it’s different than your experience. I went from 150 lbs at breast cancer diagnosis to 225 Lbs, 5 years later. I gained at a quick pace and while the (hardcore) treatment saved my life it zapped me for quite sometime. I’m only mentioning this so you can ask your Doctor, it’s frustrating and it helps to know what you’re up against. Here is what I would do. Talk to my Doctor Take vitamins Research any current meds and talk with your Doctor about any concerns. subscribe to a fitness routine or app at home Journal everything you eat in My fitness pal. Limit your calories wear a Fitbit or a comparable device Drink water until it’s coming out of your ears stock up on lean meats, fruits, yogurt and veggies. Acorn squash is my go to when I want something starchy. Keep yourself accountable. Congratulations again, You’ve proven your tough, you’ve done this before and you can do it again. It will probably take longer since you have less to lose but you’ll get there. Im rooting for you!

I thought everyone watched Breaking Bad? Yes, it is an excellent show.

    What are you BINGEING????

I forgot, one of the best documentary-series on Netflix is Cheer. It is soooo much more than Cheerleading. It’s perfect for anyone including sport fans. It has cut throat competition, hard work, real kids that you end up rooting for individually so hard, heartbreak, frustration, joy and determination. It’s great.

I had not seen him in anything before and I thought he was so handsome. I fold very easily on shows, I give up after 1 episode a lot more than I care to admit.

On Prime: The Night Manager ( seriously have no idea why this isn’t more popular) New series out on Epix by the Downton Abbey peeps. Belgravia . It just started and is on episode 2, airs Sunday nights in the US. Netflix: *Mindhunter, You, Ozark, Broadchurch, Gilmore Girls, Schitts Creek, Great British Baking Show, Virgin River.. (meh, but mindless) and Queer Eye. I’ll watch anything Ted Bundy and Serial murder related.... *LOVED Mindhunter Thanks for the tip on The Innocence files! I had to stop watching Handmaids Tale, felt like it was getting to close to reality and freaked me out. I loved Unorthodox too! It made me think of another one. This is on YouTube for free; Becoming a Nun. Think mean girls meets a convent... lol

Trust me on “The Night Manager“ guys... it’s so well done and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Tom Hiddleston is gorgeous in it, Hugh Laurie and Olivia Coleman are fantastic in it too. It’s very James Bondish. Trust me is the wrong phrase since you don’t really know me.... Give it a try and check out the ratings on Rotten Tomatoes!

Tried so hard to get into Outlander but it just didn’t grab me. Loved Sopranos, watched it when it came out. Tiger King was insane.

Have you watched Night Manager? I LOVED that show, it’s on Prime. I can’t figure out why it isn’t at the top of the list. It is a mini series more than a show since it is one season. *The Night Manager is an espionage novel by John le Carré The other show I really liked was Broadchurch.

    When does energy return?

Taking iron supplements seemed to help me, particularly this specific brand. Someone recommended it and it doesn’t bother me like other iron supplements.

    Food Before and After Photos

My husband is quite the carnivore. He usually smokes brisket but couldn’t find any, then he ran across recipes for Chuck roast and I like it better, however, I don’t love smoked beef in general. I can’t eat a lot of it because it’s so high in fat and calorIes. I almost always make something like this or carnitas with the smoked meat, that way 3-4 oz goes a long way. My favorite thing he smokes is pork loin, it never disappoints, chicken is ok, I prefer that baked. He bought this about a year ago, he doesn’t mess around lol.

Barbacoa made with Frontera Grill marinade. I piled it on 7 tortilla chips and it was amazing. I apologize for the extreme close up, it is my attempt at hiding my messy plate. My husband smoked a chuck roast and I took it from there.

@sillykitty Thank you for that link, I will be making a version of that soup once I buy some wild rice. I forwarded the recipe to my oldest son, we both love wild rice soup. btw, one ingredient I have found that makes a really subtle, but big difference in creamy soups is dry white vermouth. Instacart has a swap agreement, but not for a better deal. I gave the ok for the swap, I didn’t look at the nutritional information when I did. I’m one of those people who refuses to shop at Walmart because they don’t provide benefits or decent pay. (Damn liberal) 😂 But I shop on Amazon, so I’m pretty much a hypocrite!

READY TO THROW IN THE TOWEL

You’re welcome. I was 100% convinced I was going to be one of those people that dropped weight quickly. 6 months post surgery I was at my wits end (February 2019), I think I lost 2 pounds that month and I was so frustrated. I joined a gym in March and it really helped me mentally and physically. I did have many pity parties along the way, mostly whining to my husband lol. I refused to fail at this, it was harder than I thought it was going to be. In hindsight, I’m glad I lost it slowly. I don’t take one pound for granted. It also helped prepare me for my current life. I have to watch what I eat and chart everything because I gain very easily. I prefer this to being overweight. Keep going, you won’t regret it.
  19. I also got prescribed Ursodiol, they were huge! I had zero gall bladder issues and I stopped taking them because I lost weight so slowly. I had zero issues and it’s been over 17 months.

I love bucatini, I think it’s because one of my favorite things as a kid was Beef-a-Roni. (With Fritos on top) I was a thin child with an awful diet! Crud, now Beef a roni with Fritos sounds good.

    Food Before and After Photos

That soup looks fantastic, I need to find a good recipe, feel free to share! No picture of tonight’s dinner because I forgot to take a picture. We had burgers and oven fries. *Heads up when ordering Instacart. They have to substitute a lot of items right now which is understandable. I ordered burger patties from Costco which were sold out and replaced with a different box of burger patties. I was planning dinner and plugging the numbers into MFP... lo and behold one patty is 330 calories! No bun, no cheese just the meat and It wasn’t even that big. I had half a burger, since 330 is a lot for me considering I’m maintaining on 1300 a day, plus I REALLY wanted oven fries! It was a very good burger, fat=flavor is true with burgers. Anyway, be ready for substitutions!

READY TO THROW IN THE TOWEL

No, I’m sorry it doesn’t. Crying out for help involves wanting help, I don’t think you want help. You’ve declared many, many times in many many ways on this forum how unhappy you are, how much you regret having surgery and how somehow after a whole 2 months you’ve decided that it didn’t work. We get it, you hate it, you seem to enjoy complaining rather than listening to people who take the time, effort and their personal experiences to try and help you. You self declared/diagnosed that this surgery didn’t work for you. You believe that 2 months and 14 pounds later. *The surgery is working, you’re just uncomfortable. Someone mentioned therapy earlier to you and your response was something like: “That would be like spitting in the wind” (not verbatim) Why are you spitting in the wind here? There are a lot of people that had their surgeries canceled due to Covid, are heartbroken and would trade places with you in a heartbeat. You gave up from the start. You don’t need permission or an excuse to fail at this, and you certainly won’t get it here.

READY TO THROW IN THE TOWEL

I’m confused why you are posting. If the surgery doesn’t help you and you want to throw in the towel nobody is stopping you. People are trying to help you but you already have it figured out. Best of luck.
