  1. Hi I had BPDS Switch on April 2. I have lost 101 pounds since surgery and around 140 since starting the process. Main issue I am having is I have swelling in my lower legs very day due to low Protein and pre albumin levels. I am now taking additional supplements for Iron along with my bariatric Vitamins. Glad to hear everyone checking in!

I I am doing good. Definitely still learning. I find I can tolerate some foods sometime nd then the next day...they make me sick. However, overall pretty good.

    How are you doing TTAshton?

I can imagine that is frustrating to experience. I am good feeling a little low energy this afternoon while on my pre-op diet, but only two more days after today of this diet and 3 days till surgery.

I believe the pre-op diet is more for shrinking the liver, then for weight loss. Obviously with the reduction of calories, weight loss in inevitable however, look at it more that your liver is shrinking and your body will be in the best condition for surgery.

That is a good mindset. I have been trying to think good thoughts that my liver is shrinking!

Whoa, I am feeling it today. This is the fourth day of the pre-op liquid diet, and it is hitting me today like a ton of bricks.

On the plus side, my morning weight this AM was 340.2 (my pre-diet weight fluctuated from 345 - 352, which was a 25+ drop from my peak weight of 376).

I was feeling pretty rough on Day 3-4 last week. I am on Day 11 and it is a bit easier but I have been getting more sleep too. Congrats on the loss maybe that can be motivation when you aren't feeling the liquid diet.

Not as well on my end, but not too bad, either. I'm on day 6 of the 2 week liquid diet and some days, I experience true hunger, which in my opinion, is a wee be torturous. LOL. I have supplemented with a few ounce of mahi once per day, but will eliminate the practice altogether once I'm 7 days out.

The one thing that surprised me is that I'm not craving sugar/carbs.

I agree the true hunger is torturing! Your post made me realize I am also not craving sugar and carbs which I thought would happen but kinda forgot about.

    Day 2 of liquid diet.

Day 1 went surprisingly well. I did pretty well all day up until around 4:30pm when I started having head hunger. My stomach felt fine so I know it was all in my head. This morning I feel great. I plan on doing the same thing I did yesterday. Alternating broth, sugar free Jello and lots and lots of Water with a shake for Breakfast and a shake mid afternoon.

How s everyone elses diet going?

I am having that head and stomach hunger too on Day 8 of mine. I think lots of Water helps.

I'm on day 5 of the pre op diet, and some days are easier than others. Yes, I think more Fluid helps, and also sugar free popsicles and sugar free Jello. Im also allowed low carb Protein Shakes. I'm hungry all the time, too! We will persevere!

I agree some days are better. I have some of the sugar free pops but have not gotten any Jello yet, I may do that. What’s you favorite thing to eat on the diet so far?

Yes, I am having VSG on 4/2. Starting to get very nervous. i had dinner with friends last night who did not know about my surgery plans. They we’re not very supportive. One is a nurse and was really troubled by my decision. I was up most of the night worrying.

ita nice to see so someone else at the same starting point. How are you feeling?

Do not worry too much about your friend you made the decision based on your health. I feel as long as you have information you need to succeed then it’s no one else’s business.

    HI there

I think pretty good! It took me a LONG time to get here, and now I am ready! What about you?

Yes, it has been a long path for me as well. I am ready also. My surgeon called on Friday saying there was a cancellation for this Tuesday if I wanted to take it.that threw me for a loop, I am sticking with orginal date since I had all my family obligations scheduled around that.

  10. Hi All! I am on day 7 of PreOp diet. My surgeon allows food but low cal, low carb and small meals. I woke up in the middle of the night last night with a growling stomach. I am not used to being hungry so I is hard. I appreciate now what it feels like for people who don’t have enough to eat. I am not sure how to go the next 7 days maybe drinking more fluids will help? Any tips?
