  1. I am so sorry for your loss. It's not easy, but just know you will have that family. You look incredible! I too hit a 100 pound loss this week! I wasn't expecting it my goal weight for myself was 140. It would a 95 loss. But I've been sleeved and bypassed ( with in 17 months) it's been a rough journey. But even through all the craziness, I would do all of this all over again. I love reading your journey. And hope you keep at this! Thanks for sharing, even through the tough parts. I've been there too. We miscarried, took a year to get pregnant, very rough pregnancy and 70 hour labor, and then were unable to conceive a second time. Fertility treatments failed, and by 29 I had to have a hysterectomy. But despite I have an incredible smart 15 year who keeps me busy!
  2. I hit 100 pound loss this week! Whoop! HW 235 SW 227 CW 134 Sleeved 10/12/17 Bypassed 03/04/19 (severe gerd, esophageal restriction) Weight loss has slowed despite being bypassed. I'm actually trying to maintain right now. My personal goal was 140. I think since the end of feb to my 6 week on Monday I've lost 10 lbs.
  3. I was at 227 I was 235 when I started the process and was told not to lose any weight. I was on the lower end of qualifying. I'm 18 mos post sleeve, 6 weeks post bypass and had my bypass follow up today, I'm literally 1.6 lbs from 100 lbs down ( 136.8). I expected 60 lbs. I'm completely amazing to be where I am. But it hasn't been without complications and struggles. You'll have times were you will stall, and it's gonna be frustrating. Remember just because the numbers aren't moving, you're still losing inches. You got this.

    Breast Lift with Implants

My boobs where huge! They look decent after my 100lb loss. I'd love to get my belly done. It's not horrible but it would be nice. All of us Texas girls need to get together! Seriously! I'm in college station. Meet up somewhere and have lunch!
  5. I had it due to severe gerd, I had an edg that showed it was causing a restriction in my esophagus once they submitted it to insurance I had an approval in less then 4 days and surgery in less then 3 days
  6. I have BCBSTX no problems getting approved with sleeve or bypass

    Gerd

I just got 5 weeks post op today for conversion to bypass for GERD (severe with esophagus restriction) and I've had absolutely NO reflux! I ate a little salsa yesterday, and had no problems with or after. It's amazing. I wish I hadn't waited so long to consult with my surgeon on the issue. Good luck guys! It's gonna get better!!!

    Multivitamins?

I am now, I take the bariatric solo with iron it just has a nasty nauseating taste. Maybe one day there will be a gummy one out

    Gerd

Same issue as @katebruin we did an edg and found really bad inflammation to the esophagus causing a restriction where the pouch was meeting. Once the results came back from GI and I met with my surgeon, I was schedule in 72 hours (because he doesn't do surgeries on Friday I was scheduled that Monday and preopped that Friday) it was extremely fast. Since it's considered a medically necessary procedure there aren't any hoops to jump through other then just getting insurance to approve. I've been taking 80mg of protonix for years. And Zantac 300 was added about 9 months ago. I'm nearing 18 mo post sleeve- the severe reflux had been going on for about 9 months. I also would go thru alka seltzer chews about a bottle and half a month. I'm 4 wks post conversion today, and have not had any reflux, but am still taking my current meds.
  10. Is this what you are talking about? The surgeon who was posting this was in Houston I believe. I wouldn't trust this procedure. I would be too scare the sutures would pop. https://www.facebook.com/sandiprungta/videos/10213191729882796/

    Multivitamins?

My dietician does not recommend flintstones, vitamin patches, or the vitamin kreurig thing. She recommend the bariatric advantage chewable and then 2 cal chews- i take the BA solo with iron and then 2 hours later a cal chew and then a few hours later another chew. She said your body won't obsorb the calcium if you take right after the pill. After having the sleeve I developed a horrible texture issue and couldn't do the chews. They were like a super thick flintstone and made me gag

    Weight Loss Meds???

I've actually tried them all. Only thing that actually worked was phentermine. The others costed me about a $100 a month as well. But I was willing to try them for 3 months at a time. Currently my PCP only prescribes me the phen. He only does a low dose of 15mg, never writes for the 37.5 because of the side effects, and it's safe enough for long term use. I've currently been off it for a few months and when I went to pick up my ambien cvs filled so I went ahead and picked it up. I'm currently at 139.6, I'm only 4 lbs shy of 100 lb loss. I'm debating on starting it at the moment.

If you could close one fast food chain

Never been a fan of chipotle- free birds is ok, it's always the last on my list so it's been a few years since I've had it, but right now I could go for a bowl! I'm not a fan of McDonald's unless it's thanksgiving and custard pies are back, the only thing besides tea I will get off that menu. I boycotted CFA for 3 years but I got t craving some of their nugguts and fries, and as I got my bag I said I still love my gay friends! Little girl at the window says I do too! I think she miss heard what I said 🤦‍♀️😂 or maybe she is a supporter ( I'm a proud Christian gay supporter!- but I support everyone!)

    Breast Lift with Implants

Hey fluffy! I'm In college station! Small world!
  15. Mj77803

    Yup. I regret this.

I think there is a misconception with wls. I had a friend go from 285 to 130. I think I was told I'd lose like 60 lbs? My goal for myself was 150. I said I'd be excited to hit 140. Which is where I am now. I didn't really put any expectations on this, other then I just wanted to be healthy. I have a chronic lung condition, I was mid diagnosed as a teen with a condition and was put on steroids for 3 months on a very high dose- I gained 80 lbs in 2 months. And could never get it off. A few years ago I had a lung mass found and because of the location and size no surgeon will remove it since it's considered "stable" so they choose to treat it with steroids, 5 months of that cause weight gained again I couldn't get off. I was diagnosed with svt in 2015 and had an ablation at 33.So for me it was important to try to do everything I could to get the weight off, just to be able to give my lungs a fighting chance, and to avoid a pacemaker. I'm 36. I have a 15 year old that I want to see graduate high school, so I knew I needed to consider what my pcp was suggesting. It took me a full year to consider gastric surgery. At 230, I wasn't sure I was "fat enough" to qualify, but I had enough co-morbidities that got me approved. You may be in a stall right now, but keep going. Trust me I've delt with fair share of complications from it too. You're going to get there. Some journeys are tougher then others. But I bet in a few months you'll be one to tell someone who is doubting " you got this! I've been in that same spot!"
  16. Mj77803

    Yup. I regret this.

So things are better? Do you still regret it? I may have misunderstood throughout the thread. I wanted the bypass to start because I read I'd lose more weight, but when he told me they don't do that, they do the sleeve and convert if needed because they can't revert, I was like well it's better then nothing! I lost 85 with the sleeve in 16 mo. I stalled for about 3 months it was so frustrating. But I was only 230 when I was approved which I barely qualified and was told to no lose any weight. Sometimes I feel like I should have lost more- but I have to remind myself I was on the low end and barely made it. But I still see that "fat girl" in the mirror. So I'm working on that.

    Yup. I regret this.

Interesting. My doc said that they couldn't do that, which is why they do sleeves, and only do by pass if medically necessary ( and I've done both) I wouldn't say I've regretted bypass I'm only going on 3 weeks, and my acid reflux has resolved, but the dumping syndrome is no joke. I only had it twice in the 17 months I was sleeved. Adjusting to bypass has been harder, while recovery has been much easier. Would I do bypass again? 90% sure, my acid flux was pretty severe, and the restriction the inflammation caused was pretty painful. It did the job it was suppose to. I was in your same boat after I had my sleeve, chronic nausea, my surgeon didn't know what caused it, and it eventual resolved on it's own and I was able to eat and drink normally and had no reflux. Until about 6 mo ago. But everyone is different. You're still fairly new out. Did they give you any zofran? Reglan is what I usually take for my nausea. I also take it for onset migraines, works wonders!

    Yup. I regret this.

Gastric bypass is not reversible. They are separating your intestines from your stomach Gastric bypass, also called Roux-en-Y (roo-en-wy) gastric bypass, is a type of weight-loss surgery that involves creating a small pouch from the stomach and connecting the newly created pouch directly to the small intestine. After gastric bypass, swallowed food will go into this small pouch of stomach and then directly into the small intestine, thereby bypassing most of your stomach and the first section of your small intestine.

    No weight loss

I telll myself even though the numbers don't always move, I'm still losing inches. My clothes and scrubs are still fitting looser and looser.

    Once daily multivitamin

Bariatric advantage just came out with a one a day, you can get it with or with iron, we are recommended to take two calcium chews daily just not within two hours of this (with iron) for better absorption

    Cheated a little...

I'm on ambien- so I tend to "sleep eat" I had bypass 3-4 (a mon) and that Saturday night I apparently decided to go into the kitchen and take a bite out of 4 slices of pizza. I sent my dietician a message and she said I should be fine- if something isn't going to go down or cause an issue I'm probably going to puke. True enough, 3 nights later husband said I got a hold of popcorn and puked. A couple of days later I called my surgeons office and left a message. He never called so I assumed I was in the clear. He's usually pretty good about getting back if there is an issue. I seen him Monday for my 2 weeks and he said I was probably fine, maybe have some edema but he isn't concerned. Just listen to your body. I too advanced a few days early on my stages when I had my sleeve, this recovery has been much easier then that one.

    Alcohol

I never asked/ was never told ( when I had my sleeve 10/2017) but I heard 6 mo from a coworker who had it done so I waited till then. I always got a "burning" sensation going down so I really never finished them. But maybe I will give it a shot again in a few months ( I just had bypass- I'm not sure how long to wait with this one)
  23. I've been doing biotin for 6 months ( post sleeve 17 mo, bypass 2 weeks) honestly it's done nothing. I did the monat shampoo for a year as well- and my hair still fell out at a ridiculous rate. I've since stopped using it. It did grow out pretty fast. Although I'm debating on cutting it all off.

    Constipation

Mag citrate will work, took me about half the bottle. But i just can't handle the taste. I just do stool softener. I've tried milk of mag, it's just not as effective. I've always had bowel issues since I was a kid. I was on citracel for years. Usually I just do a softener every other day.

    March Bypass Buddies

I actually feel better and feel like I'm recovering better from bypass then the sleeve. Maybe it's because I lost half my stomach already 😂. How are you? How's your recovery going?
