  1. Well I had my rny surgery yesterday. I have 6 incision spots and they also did a hiatal hernia repair. The gas is the worst part in my opinion but still have surgery sight pain and so they have me on pill for ohycodone every 3 hours. Dr says I can only drink 1 oz medicine cups of Water every hour. I also go diluted apple juice, chicken broth, bottled water with lemon flavor lemonad. Same rules for drinking that stuff too. Now I can smell people’s breakfast being delivered and man it smells delish!!!!! I should be able to go home tommorw. My stats are 224 lbs day of surgery. My highest weight was 281 in 2011.
Glad to hear. My surgery was yesterday morning as well sleeve to rny with hernia repair. No gas, 5 incisions, no liquids until after x-ray this morning. Hoping to go home tomorrow if pain is tolerable.

  3. I chose the sleeve over bypass 4 years ago. I cannot say that is was wrong choice at that time in my life. I know WLS saved my life. Now, I am getting revised for múltiple reason including never getting to a healthy weight, GERD and a hernia plus my sleeve was never a sleeve.

  4. Hello- I haven't posted in many years. I am about to get my bypass scheduled. It's been a long road!
I have my sleeve 5 years ago, and due to not loosing very much weight, I want bypass. I started out at 268, and for the past several years, I've maintained 238. Last may, I went to a surgeon, who I really liked, and I asked to be re-sleeved. He suggested bypass, and I agreed. He did a scope to check how things looked, since my sleeve was done in Mexico (which was a super good experience). All looked great, except he found I had a hiatal hernia, which explained all the heartburn I have had.
Now, when it came to the insurance, that was a whole big battle! I changed surgeons, hoping that the new surgeon would submit new info to insurance, and this would be approved. He did find my sleeve was a little dilated (large), which was a criteria for insurance, even though they did not pay for my 1st surgery. A very long story short, at the very end of Feb 2019, an outside agency found that my surgery IS medically necessary, and the insurance will have to pay. Fortunately, I have already met my out of pocket max,m so I won't have to pay a dime for the surgery (same as last year).
In two days I go back to the surgeon for the group class, and get my surgery date! I have been battling so long, now I have to get back into gear for what is actually going to happen after surgery.
Anyone else have a similar story? Anyone else been defeated, and then the surgery is back on?

Exact same medical issue. Sleeved 4 yes ago. Hiatal hernia present, mild weight gain, surgeon recommended sleeve to bypass conversion on March 19th

  5. I'm scheduled for Sleeve to Bypass revision in two weeks due to GERD, and I don't feel peace about the surgery, nor I'm I feeling gung-ho about starting the liver shrink on Thursday, or going through all the post-op food steps and watching every single thing I put in my mouth.....I'm 5 years post Sleeve and I'm at goal weight. I just don't think I want this surgery. With my sleeve I don't have to take a steady stream of Vitamins nor do I have to think of maybe never eating Ice cream again due to dumping...
I also don't want the big bill from my medical deductible that the surgery will leave me paying.....I probably sound like a big baby....Sigh....the thought of surgery again is just not appealing to me right now....but Dr. says I can't keep taking the GERD meds, as they can cause harm to my kidneys....What's a girl to do?
    I guess I'm just venting....
My sleeve to bypass is set for Tuesday March 19th and I too have my doubts about the procedure. I have reached goal weight and regained almost 40 lbs with a hiatal hernia present. My doctor recommended this procedure. Good luck with your decision. It is ultimately ours to make. If I could live comfortably with the hiatal hernia, I would opt out.
