Day 10: What are you most grateful for in your childhood? The big answer- my parents. It would take a book to really try to explain why, and even then it probably wouldn't be enough... So I'll just leave it with the fact that I will never stop being grateful for the gift of being raised by both of them.

#8 Lesson I am most grateful for learning: The lesson I am most grateful for learning is one I am still learning, and relearning, and probably always will be. It is the lesson of really being in the moment, whatever that moment holds, be it good bad or ugly. I think everything in life can bring me a teachable moment, but I am sometimes distracted or I fall into that "wishing for the next thing" deal instead of really sitting with the moment at hand. When I slow down and am really mindful I learn so much more, about myself and the world, than when I am on to the next thing without taking a pause or acknowledging what is placed right in front of me. #9 I am not very well traveled- never even left the States! @ms.sss - so jealous of your Australia adventure! (Australia is on my bucket list.) Sounds awesome! I do love Estes Park in Colorado. I also lived on an small island off the coast of Florida that was really beautifil for a few years. B Side question: The Hubby has been nothing less than amazing since WLS. He really is my biggest cheerleader and is super supportive in whatever way I need, often before I could even voice it. He is the best. 💕

Favorite book: This might be the hardest question yet! I love The Call of the Wild by Jack London. The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath is pretty amazing too. The Road by Cormac McCarthy is a tough, but great, read about the way love always prevails. Ray Bradbury and Steve Matheson are favs- so many others, too! I usually tend to gravitate to contemporary thrillers and science fiction in everyday reading though.

    Share your gallbladder removal experience!

I had mine out 8 weeks after my RNY surgery. It was a super easy recovery and I felt 1000000% better right away. It had messed with me for years. I only wish I had done it sooner! Get that sucker outta there!

Day 6: What I am most grateful for in nature. The stars in the sky. Such a beautiful reminder of the enormity of nature, and how fleeting my place in it really is. Makes me grateful for the gift of my life.

Day 5: So far so good. Though, I seriously suck at drinking water! It isn't a taste thing. Water is the only thing I do drink, with the exception of a morning cup of herbal tea, but I am just NEVER thirsty. Like, never, ever ever. Even when I should, by all rights, be really, really thirsty. I can actually forget to drink any liquid all day long at all (and have) if I am not really being mindful. I have to approach drinking like I treat taking vitamins almost. So weird... Not like I am eating soups or anything with liquids either- (maybe the yogurt 1x per day counts fluid wise some though?) Otherwise, it is lean protein/veg. Perhaps I am part camel. 🐪 😉 I do force myself to drink, because, well, death. 💀 lol! I have gone back to a timer like early on, just to space it out better and get it in more as a part of my challenge here. I don't want to grow that back hump, even a little. Item in my home I am most grateful for: Like most people, my dog is the best! He is funny, loyal, and a huge part of our family. The house would not be the same without his sweet, sweet little face. 💙

    Cigna - Denial Due Location??

While this did not happen to myself, I have seen others post with this exact same issue. Keep at it and coordinate with your Doctor's office. I am sure you can get it resolved. Good Luck!
  14. I couldn't stand the chewables either. It wasn't just a bad taste while taking it thing for me, either. Instead it was HOURS & HOURS of gag worthy burping/ stomach upset and therefor tasting it all. day. long. 😱 I don't know if you are early enough out to require "no pill" type options or not. I actually used these pictured below, even early on, by emptying the capsules and chasing them quick with water. It was still briefly pretty nasty, but it gave me a lot less in the way of tasting and burping it for hours later afterward, at least. I just swallow these whole now, so MUCH easier. I got the OKs from both my Doctor and my nutritionist to use this formula before I tried it, but check with yours to be sure works for your situation if you decide to try them. You can also check the store here on BP for some really good vitamin options! Hope you find what works for you- hang in there!

Day 4: Memory I am most grateful for- Oh, boy! This is a tough one! Of course, some things that come first to mind are my wedding and the births of my children. For irreplaceable blessings like those... gratitude is just too small a word. However, after thinking a bit, one little memory sort of sums up a lot for me. When I was in college, I was living in a dorm two hours away from my now Husband. Every Friday night he would leave after work and drive all the way up to the school just so he could take me back to my folks for the weekend so we could spend time together. One Friday night, during a huge snow storm, I called him to tell him not to try to come. I was afraid it was getting too bad out and I didn't want him to chance the long drive. He agreed it wasn't a good idea and we hung up. Four hours later, to a soft knock on the door, I picked up the bag I had already packed- knowing he would come anyway.💕

I am so sorry that is happening! That stinks and has to feel terrible. I hope you will reconsider the whole not posting pictures on social media thing though... While I totally get why you would feel the pressure to do just that, I don't think you should for a couple of reasons. If the pics are truly making your friends stay away more I would hazzard a bet that they are not going to "forget" your weightloss, no matter what they do/don't see on your social media. (I know you were half- joking when you said it, but the thought crossed your mind that you should become a bit less visible for their comfort level.) The biggest reason to post any pictures that you would like to though is that you should not let ANYONE diminish your joy. You worked very hard to accomplish what you have, and you have every right to feel good about it. You shouldn't have to make yourself into "less" of your authentic self to make your friends feel like "more" of their own. So be your own awesome, badass self and let those pics fly when ya feel like it! The rest will sort itself out. Better to lose a whole "friend" than little pieces of yourself. 💙 ((Hugs))

I think I am always very careful to frame everything as "wonderful" to others (outside of family), even when it is not, for this very reason, though I hadn't actually made that connection it until just now. Huh... a bit of subconscious self protection from outside judgement maybe? IDK... maybe it is just because I am not a sharer and it is the fastest way to change the subject when asked!

Day 2: Technology- humm... I have a bit of love/hate with most of it. I guess I would have to pick my phone, just because it makes so many things easier throughout my day. (Logging food, getting directions and keeping up with the Fam etc.)

    RNY for Children - Thoughts?

I gotta agree. I do get that lifestyle factors play a part, obviously. However, if a person is morbidly obese (not chunky, overweight or babyfat, but quite literally deadly overweight) at 12(!) the outlook long term of that resolving for them for a whole LIFETIME via some simple family changes is not good. Making changes in the household could, no doubt, help some- maybe- for a period of time. (And that is if the child is lucky enough to be in a family that is willing/capable of making those changes long term. Many can't or won't for complex reasons of their own.) Now, that said, not every 12 year old is the same emotionally and in maturity level. I agree some 12 year olds are not able to grasp the commitment/ considerations we all wrestled with when, as adults, we chose this option. I am also willing to bet those same 12 year olds are not able to grasp the ramifications, lifelong impact and damage to their mental/ physical wellbeing that years of morbid obesity starting in childhood causes either... I guess I would not want to leave my child with years of long struggle with a disease, all the while damaging their health, just so they could make that choice possibly later as an adult instead. Morbid obesity got its name for a reason.

Post op ladies who wear nail polish

The polish lasts that long (and longer) for me almost always, though it may start to wear a bit at the tips if I am really hard on them. You can, if you want to/need to, take off the polish and re do it before doing a new dip set without any problem though. You would maybe need to buff very lightly again to smooth a bit before repolishing is all. Easy! I have tried the colored dip some, but I like the polish over clear option the best for myself. (Though I can see how other people would like it as it saves nail polishing steps and would not wear off color wise at all, ever.) I just don't like being "stuck" with one color once I dip and it's much easier to find the exact shade I like in a traditional polish. I like to use Essie brand polish and I clear top coat it twice. If you "cap" the outside edges of the nails with clear top coat the polish job will hold up much longer too. If you decide to give it a go, post a pic. Hope it works well for you!
