I had RNY on Wednesday. Pain has been manageable. The main issue for my continues to be pain around left ribs which is pretty common I’m told. And getting out of bed is still excruciating. But once I’m up I feel good - hardly any pain walking the halls. Hoping to go home tomorrow. But I have work on getting up without assistance. I’m not going to be able rely on my 85 year old mom to haul my carcass out of bed 😊. All in all things have been really good. So grateful for that!

Good luck with all those who have ops coming up this week. Stay strong and think of the future you.Good luck! I’m having bypass on the 24th. Now that it’s so close I’m just so eager to get thru the next few days. liquid diet is not so bad for me now. But still struggling to get all the Water in. Really going to focus on that this weekend.

Any pay for the surgery out of pocket in the US? My insurance won’t cover it and I’m not comfortable going to Mexico. I’m wondering what happens if I have any complications. Does the insurance refuse to cover any issues related to the surgery. Planning to ask my doc and the insurance company. But I’m interested in any info from the group too.

Any one have some good suggestions for a non-alcoholic cocktail? I’m going on cruise in September with girl friends. I’d like to feel that I’m part of the party at the bar but don’t want to have alcohol.

I’m worried that I’m not being realistic about time off from work. I realize that it can’t be predicted because of possible complications and I can go on FMLA leave if something does happen. But I’m trying to get a handle on whether I’m going to need more than 10 days total before I go back to work. That’s what I have avail in paid time off. I have an office job, no heavy lifting, some walking around (which I think will be good for me). I’m a pretty tough cookie - not a wimp when it comes to pain or discomfort. I was back to work less than a week after laparoscopic gall bladder removal. Does that compare at all to how recover from bypass surgery might be?

Congrats! I’ve got one cruise scheduled next month, before surgery, and one in September. I’ve been wondering how I would handle the one in September. You’ve inspired me by your success and that you still enjoyed it. Great picture!

Hi. I’m new to the forum. Still in the testing phase (blood work, Upper GI, etc.) - no surgery date yet. Feeling excited about the possibilities and nervous about doing the diet correctly for the rest of my life. I’m a rules girl - I love coloring between the lines - so I think I’m a little overwhelmed with the do’s and don’ts. I’ve been doing lots of research. Anyone else get paralysis by analysis?

Thanks for posting. The pain you described is exactly what and where my pain is. Glad to hear it is easing for you. Gives me hope. I’m 1 week post op.
