    Hello,
So I was at the hospital getting my IV and injections for surgery that was 30 minutes away. The nurses were having issues with my IV and they ended up trying 3 different times. As she was telling me how much the Heparin injection was going to hurt I started crying uncontrollably, shaking, turned ghost white and was having a major panic attack. I ended up telling them that I couldn't do any of it and I just wanted to go home because I was so overcome with emotions and felt like I was going to die at that moment. Before they gave me an IV I explained to them that I have really bad anxiety and they did not give me anything nor even offer it until I couldn't control myself and wanted to not be touched.

I ended up going home because no one could reason with me in that state and I really regret it because it would have been over and done with but there was no logical thinking in that moment. I spoke to my bariatric program coordinator and she told me I have 6 months to make a decision and get anxiety treatment. I made an appointment with a psych to both talk and seek medication as well. My panic attacks are so random I never know what is going to trigger it and it has been a long time since I have been in a situation that caused it. I want surgery because I have unexplained infertility and have a bmi of over 45. I am 27 as well. Has anyone with anxiety issues chickened out and ended up getting it done eventually.

I think I understand how you might have felt. I didn't have as serious anxiety attack, but did have a lot of self talk reminding myself of the greater good. Fortunately I was already on the operating table when it hit the hardest. I recall telling the anesthesiologist I was feeling anxious..... Next thing I know, I'm in recovery with my husband by my side. That was February 11, 2019 and about 45 pounds lighter.

  2. I am at 3 weeks post open today and feeling really well. I am in the mushies phase and not having too many issues. I have to really focus on chewing well and slowing down. Otherwise I'm in pain and the foaming occurs. I went into a stall at my 2nd week and finally after 8 days may be beginning to move the scale. 21 days and only 11 pounds lost. I had this surgery at the suggestion of several specialists due to abnormal cells on my liver which were also removed. I also had my gallbladder removed in December. The lap sleeve for me is a tool that I will use to not continue to yo yo which sickens my liver. I need to remember that and try not to focus so much much on the losses. But it is so hard after being told over and over that I will lose 30-50 lbs in 3 months.

I am trying to drink Crystal light vs Water. So far.... not any easier. Th nurse called, my surery was the 25th and told me I had to get in Protein along with water! It feels daunting.

In the beginning it is difficult. Take heart, it does get easier. My nutritionist suggested getting an unflavored Protein Powder to enhance any beverages and any foods consumed. I purchased Isopure zero carb unflavored whey Protein. It has 25 grams of protein per scoop which I mix with 20 ounces of crystal lite. It's really very tolerable. It can also be sprinkled on yogurt and cottage cheese, eggs to elevate protein. I measure out a scoop for the day and use it up throughout the day.

Congrats on your 27 lbs! That's amazing1! I just started puree stage yesterday too. Every so far is making me nauseous. I'm down 11 lbs. I shouldn't be disappointed wit that, but I am. I think I understand why the worrying. This is a huge opportunity to get healthy and an investment in ourselves.

  5. On my first 2 days, I was on a clear liquid diet, and truthfully had to force my self to ensure I took in enough fluids. You will likely feel the same. I was not the least bit hungry. After moving on to a full liquid diet, I continued to conscientiously focus on ensure I met my Protein intake goals and Fluid intake as I still have no appetite. I mostly drank Premier Protein shakes (30 grams protein) and (Isopure drinks (20 grams protein). I've found it helpful to sometimes microwave 1/2 a shake and drink it like cocoa. I don't do a whole one though because it takes me 2 hours to drink 1/2. I've had a couple of sugar free jellos and popsicles are my new favorite. I journal every thing to track my intake of protein and liquids. You'll find your groove. Good luck

  6. Hi. I had a sleep apnea test as part of my insurance approval process because my BMI was too low to qualify without 2 other co-morbid issues. Maybe that's why they want you to be tested? In my case I did have mild sleeve apnea which qualified me. I did get a CPAP, which actually helps me sleep better. Good luck. The process is a roller coaster.
