  1. Hi. If some of you guys are afraid of dealing with emotions before and after surgery there is this really good book called The Weight Loss Surgery Coping Companion: A Practical Guide For Coping With Post-Surgery Emotions By Tanie Miller Kabala, Ph. D
Hope you guys get a chance to buy and read this book.
I think my surgeon recommended it too. I'll have to check it out!

  2. DS on June 7, yesterday was my first day really tracking Protein and I made it- was sure all drinks first part of day had protein managing day pain with Tylenol and just using the “good stuff” at night to sleep - it really it about refilling and refilling and refilling a medicine cup and making each one a goal ALL DAY LONG everyday the pain is a little better.
Who has a tasty option for b complex cause the one I got is awful
Anyone else having to do blood thinner injections?
I had to do blood thinners. Thankfully I'm done, because I'm covered in bruises. Today is my first day with protein. So stoked for variety! I've been doing a half dose of pain meds in the morning and a full dose at night -- just enough to stay ahead of it. Today seems better. Hope yours is too!

  3. I had revision from lapband to ds on June 7... 2 nights in the hospital and I’m home and I’ve even worked from home nearly all day today. This is way harder than lapband or csection ( I had 2 of those ) I had 2 week pre op diet, week 1 was 2 shakes 2 Snacks and a lean green dinner week 2 was all shakes and I was down 13lb when I went in for surgery. I’m so puffed up now from IV fluids the scale showed back up 10lb so I’m staying away from that thing a few days.
Surgery sibling! I had the sleeve on Friday. And heck yeah, I was caught of guard by how much it hurts. Today has been a bit better though and it's good to be home. Happy healing to you!

  4. Did anyone not lose that much weight during their preop diet?

I’m on day 5 of 10 of a 5 shakes/day diet and I’ve only lost 4.6 lb! I have my pre op testing tomorrow and am worried what they’ll say, esp. b/c people here seem to lose 10-15 lb (or more!) in the typical 2 weeks [emoji33]

Part of me is a bit disappointed too, b/c a bigger loss pre op seems like a good kickstart to the whole process?
Sorry tough are frustrated. Have you added exercise? My pre-op required 30 minutes of walking a day. Maybe that would help?

  5. Happy Saturday Everyone,

Day 3 of being stuck inside. I have kept the time by watching some of the movies I recorded during the week. Like the Misfits, Curse of Frankenstein and Cat on A Hot Tin Roof. Yup, the Purpledva is into Classic Hollywood. The Golden Age of Hollywood had its problems but they had style and class too.

I must be honest clear liquids are becoming quite old, quickly. And the need to have something more substantial is becoming rampant. I equate it to being a vampire during the series of True Blood. The hunger is fierce and will sometimes not make you such a nice person. I checked my blood sugar levels earlier today and they had dropped to 65 which is not the greatest. So, I opted for some fruit juice and now my readings are back to normal.

I am starting ask myself did I make the right decision by opting to have surgery. I mean, I am a social creature and the weather is so nice outside, etc. But I have to keep reminding myself that Rome was not built in a day. So I will gradually look to Soup to ease my fears/hungers. I haven’t been out walking, etc. Because I wanted to give myself time to really heal. So over the next week, I will be still taking it easy and gradually incorporating a walk or two in the coming week.

The Struggle is Fierce but the rewards are so worth it!!!

Same on the questioning. I was doing great until I wasn't. Why did I choose this? I know it will get better. I'm just impatient.

  6. Had sleeve surgery on June 4th. I’m 39 years old, mother to a 8 year old boy and 3 year old girl. I am diabetic, have PCOS, HTN, and Hyperlipidemia. High weight was 239, surgery weight was 227. Glad to be on this journey and super excited for what the future holds! Ready to reclaim my health!!
How are you feeling? I got sleeved yesterday. Not too bad but am trying to stay ahead of the pain.

  7. All done! I was pleasantly surprised how it went. Have been able to walk, drink, sleep a little bit, pee, etc! No real nausea or weakness. Just some sharp pains where the drain is placed if I move too quickly. Staff here have been incredible. Get to go home in a few hours. I hope everyone else is doing well.
    Speedy recovery!

  8. I drank bottle wine and ate tub Ben and Gerry ice cream - 5 days prior to my surgery. Was totally weak with hunger. Busy day at work. Kids crazy evening time. All I could think is never able to have those foods again post gastric bypass. Woke this morning. The Guilt. Back to plan today

What's done is done. No use sweating it. Pick yourself back up and get ready for the "losers' bench." You can do it!
