I had my EGD yesterday and the paperwork will be sent to CIGNA (State of TN) so now the hard part starts! The waiting to see if I am approved. I am worried. The physc eval was denied even though they say it is mandatory to have the surgery. I am appealing that. How long does it normally take to get an answer?

Hey there fellow Tennesseans! I don't live in Memphis but I live just down the road a bit. (between Memphis and Nashville) I will tell you from my experience that the bigger weight loss clinics may not be the best if you want one on one. I went to the one at Centenial hospital in Nashville and it is supposed to be one of the best but I was unimpressed because I felt like a number instead of a paitent. So I am using Dr Huerta in Dickson. Smaller town, smaller hospital but I feel l am getting one and one and the staff as well as the Dr know me by name! It has been a long 7 month journey for me. I am just now starting the waiting process for insurance approval! I will you good luck in finding the right Dr!

Hello fellow Tennesseans!:cursing: I live about 55 miles west of Nashville! I am having my surgery in Dickson by Dr Huerta. Hopefully in July! I am in the final 2 months of the 6 months of supervised weight loss that my insurance says I have to have! :rolleyes2:I have a question about the Realize band that was mentioned. What is the difference between that and the standard band that is used?

Hello fellow Tennessean!! My name is Becky and I live in Centerville (60 miles w of Nashville). I understand what you are saying about arrogant Dr's. I went to a seminar at Centenial Hospital in Nashville and the Dr who hosted it ( he will remain nameless but he is one of the 3 that performs surgery) was very cocky! I asked a question during the Q&A part of the seminar and he acted like I was an idiot! I just asked how people who had gastric bypass fair as they age! He answer was they are alive aren't they! What a jerk! :cursing:I am going to a surgeon in Dickson who is the nicest man! He's name is Dr Huerta! His staff is awesome too! I have about 2 more months and my 6 month wait will be over!! yeehaw!:biggrin2: Becky

Hello y'all! I am in the process of deciding what surgery I want to have. I am really leaning toward Lapband versus RNY. What I am wanting to know is why you choose this surgery instead of the other. I am shooting for surgery sometime in July! I am finishing up the 6 month Dr supervised diet!(have lost but maybe 5-7 lbs) and go for my physc eval next week! Any feedback that can be provided will be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!
