I am on Day 6 of the 2 week Pre-op liquid diet and I've done exactly what was prescribed, 3 Protein Shakes a day and lots of Water and sugar free Jello or popsicles a couple times a day for a snack. The 2nd day was pretty rough and I still have a mild headache at times, but I'm getting to the point that I'm just not hungry. I drink the shakes at certain times of the day but only because I have set reminders, not because my body is telling me that I'm hungry. Has anyone else experienced this?

I’m also having surgery on the 27th. I’m so ready for it and the benefits of life that will come after.

It depends on your doctor but a 2 week pre-op diet seems to be pretty common.

I'm on Day 3 of the pre-op diet. My blood sugar this morning was 150 and that's with me still taking my diabetic meds. My doctor said about a week in I may have to stop taking them so my sugar doesn't get too low. He also said it would fluctuate up and down, so I don't think 170 is too much to worry about at this point. It never hurts to call you doctor and check though.

I'm on Day 3 of the Liquid Pre-op diet. Yesterday was a bit rough for a few hours, but today seems to be much better so far. My surgeon told me on Tuesday at my pre-op appointment that the first few days would be the worst and after that I would probably just be bored with consuming the same things everyday.

My pre-op diet is Protein Shakes, sugar-free Clear Liquids, sugar-free, Jell-O sugar-free popsicles –that’s it. I am on day three, it is easier than day one. I know I can do it, it’s mind over matter. This is a lifestyle change. If you can’t hang with the preop, how are you going to manage the post op. 🤓
Mine is the exact same. I am on Day 1. It's not been too bad so far but I know tonight and tomorrow will be challenging. I think by Friday and Saturday I don't think it will be bad at all.

My doctor did not say anything about loosing but the nurse was happy that I lost 1lb in my last vist but so far I've lost 5lbs. My insurance ask for 4 doctors visit and 3 nutritionist visit. I am keeping it on the safe side to at least loose a few lbs.
Check with your surgeon to be sure.
I have Aetna as well and I gained 4 ounces from the time I started until the last Dr visit before they submitted. I still got an approval. I think I had actually lost a little but I was wearing heavier clothes and shoes at the last appointment.

I am also having surgery on March 27th. I go in for the preop appt on the 12th and start the liquid diet on the 13th. Not really looking forward to that but it will be ok. I'm just going to embrace the suckiness of it. I'm not nervous, yet, but I imagine some nervousness will set in once the day comes closer. I am so ready to get this done and start feeling better and getting off all the meds I am taking.

I’m also scheduled for gastric bypass next Wednesday, the 27th. I’m on Day 8 of the liquid diet. I’m not really hungry, and haven’t been for a few days, but I sure want to eat something other than drinking shakes and Water. I’m sure it’s all psychological but I was really craving chips and salsa last night.
One more week! It’s a bit surreal that it’s this close but I am so ready to get it over with.
