    Newbie in CT

Hi Shortgal & Sharona, Thanks for your words of support. Shortgal, your weightloss is great! Anything "lost" is always a plus. It's the up and down that I couldn't take anymore. I had did Jenny Craig for about 2 months, but besides being expensive to stay on, when I stopped I gained all the weight back, and plus some!! That's when I started thinking that the smaller portions do work, I lost 15 lbs, but when I stopped, like I said it all came back as usual. That's what really got me thinking about the band. Two of my friends had done gastric bypass about 8 years ago. One did and is still doing great! She follows exactly how she is to eat and drink and watches her portions. The other has stretched her pouch to where she is eating as much, if not more, than when she began. Watching both of them, I feel that I am ready to take on this new lifestyle. I think I'll be more careful about my choices and I do realize this only a TOOL to help me lose the weight. It is not a guarantee. I have about 100 lbs. to lose. You both are doing so well, and are a great inspiration to me to know that it actually can be done!

    Newbie being banded in June!

Thanks for the advice. Any advice is great appreciated. I hate to say, but right now, I'm enjoying all the things I won't be having for quite along time! But, I need to stop soon. Saturday starts my pre op Optifast! :cursing:
  4. Just wanted to come out of hiding and say hello to my soon-to-be fellow bandsters. My surgery date is set for June 20th. It didnt' take long (5 weeks) to meet with all the necessary requirements and got the ok from my insurance within 5 days! I am nervous but very anxious to have it done. I am dreading the 2 week pre op diet of Optifast, but hey, that's what this is all about. Good luck and best wishes to you all! I won't be "lurking" anymore, I'll actually be posting and looking forward to hearing from you!!

    Sharing that you're having surgery

Hi Greythope and June Bandsters, I'm new to the board but have been "lurking" around for quite some time and when I saw this question decided to come out of hiding.:huh2: I also have told no one. The only person who knows is my husband. He is my rock and my motivator. Many of my friends and family members are very judgemental and some have loved sabotaging my diets in the past. I just said that I was having epigastric hernia surgery to my family and work! I am scheduled for June 20th and am excited and nervous at the same time. I would have preferred to share my journey with others, but I'll just keep them wondering how I finally lost my weight!
