Great plan! I lost 24 pounds in the first 12 days post-op (and that didn’t include the extra 2 pounds from the hospital stay) and in the last 14 days I’ve lost a grand total of 2 pounds.
I’m weighing once weekly at the most, but the most important thing I did was take a lot of measurements.
Even though I’ve “only” lost 2 pounds in the last 2 weeks, I’ve lost almost 2 inches in my waist, 1.5 off of my hips, 2.25 off of my lower abs, and many many other inches off of arms, thighs, etc....

The scale is only one single tool to measure progress and I’m going to assume that when the scale isn’t going as fast as we would like at times, our bodies are still changing.

Measurements, I need to do that! As depressing as the numbers may be at least I will see them reduce! Thanks.

I'm doing great otherwise. I've lost 27 pounds and people notice. I have bags under my eyes and they have dramatically reduced. It seems all around inflammation reducing. It's a wonderful feeling.

I don't think it was the sugar. The Dr's have sent me home with laden sugary pain medicine that is liquid. I've not had one problem with it. I honestly think it was way too thick and it expands. I also think I ate too fast.

Thanks so much for asking Goody! I hope you are doing great too!

I am getting there! No regrets yet. i just started walking the treadmill (sadly at an icredibly slow pace). itis more than I was doing before and I Know i Will get more fit. Cheers to slow thin meals. We got this Gabybab!

I know I shouldn't but I weight myself every morning and a few times during the day. 6-7 days after surgery I was down 8 lb. but the last 5 days I am bouncing around and basically only lost 2 lbs. Ugh. I am estimating I am burning 1500-2000 calories and only getting in 450-500 calories. I know it's early etc and tomorrow I could wake up and suddenly be down 2 lbs but I am feeling frustrated. I see the NUT and MD Wed. and am anticipating advancing to soft foods and thus my calories will probably go up so I am already thinking this is going to be so slow.

It iseasy to focus on the scale. we all want to lose weight and see scale progress. Going to try to stay off the scale the rest of the week. i am afraid that I will have unrealistic expectations ! Try not to doom yourself already. We have a long journey ahead of us.

  4. Gabybab you just Scared me! That doesnot sound fun. I havenot Had that experience Yet and would like to avoid it(i know probably not realistic). Hopefully, you can isolAte the culprit/cause. otHer than your recent scare, how are you feeling one week post sugery?

Please know I have been thinking of and praying for you. I hope your gastroenterologist visit is helpful quickly.

Thank you so much...I truly appreciate that!!! My appointment was very helpful. Turns out there is sludge in my gall bladder and they feel that is what caused the ulcer. So my gastroenterologist is sending me to a surgeon and has suggested that my gall bladder be removed.

So glad to read that they are working on a solution. Surgery us not ever fun but I hope that it provides you with peace and the ability to enjoy your life and all of your hard work. Will continue to pray for your healing. Please keep us updated .

Sleeved 2/22... 7 days post-op and only down 9 lbs. feeling a little doubtful on this weight loss journey.

My doctors office said not to step on the scale until the two week follow up. In my case I am sitting in their office right now getting fluids. I can’t seem to drink enough so they are tellingmegive my body some time to adjust and then I will start losing weight. I totally understand after a major surgery, you want the scale to show weight loss. I am not weighing myself to avoid disappointment. They say the weight loss picks up. Fingers crossed.

In the beginning it is difficult. Take heart, it does get easier. My nutritionist suggested getting an unflavored Protein Powder to enhance any beverages and any foods consumed. I purchased Isopure zero carb unflavored whey Protein. It has 25 grams of Protein per scoop which I mix with 20 ounces of crystal lite. It's really very tolerable. It can also be sprinkled on yogurt and cottage cheese, eggs to elevate protein. I measure out a scoop for the day and use it up throughout the day.

Thank you.i will try the protein powder. I Appreciate the Encouragement,

I know it’s different but it worked. I had all those electrolytes in my system. The only problem was that I held a lot of fluids like 13 lbs of extra weight. It took three weeks to get rid of that

Thanks for the heads up on fluids I am not stepping on the scale until my two week check in. No need to disappoint myself.

I felt good after surgery. I did a enhanced recovery protocol before I drank 32oz of Gatorade night before surgery and 32 oz a couple hour before surgery. I felt pretty good because of that.

You’ll feel better day by day and when the scale moves even better

I got to drink 100% grape juice!!!

I had the same enhanced recovery and had to drink a Gatorade type drink the morning of surgery along with a nausea medicine.

  10. Did anyone else wake up from surgery and think Oh my goodness, I actually just had surgery ? For a moment I was chastising myself for not being able to lose the weight without resorting to surgery. Reading all these post reminded me, this is a very effective tool. However, I still have to work to lose it and maintain the weight loss. Thanks everyone.
