  1. It sounds like things are getting better for you. I’m so glad to hear that. It should only get better from now on I pray. Your pouch will be different from others, At least that’s what I understand...some can tolerate more than others. Enjoy the wedding. My son is getting married in September and I can’t wait!

  2. Tracy, try to get as many of your Vitamins in liquid form if you can. I’m not sure but I think there are some you can take that way. I know it’s been years since I had my surgery but in regards to them putting you on puréed foods so soon is very strange to me...I guess conversions are very different from straight sleeves or bypasses. Just do what your doc says and don’t worry about what everyone else is saying. I’ll bet later down the road, you’ll tolerate cereal better...just not now. Did you ever watch the Mini me in Tennessee YouTube videos I told you about? When you have time, watch them...I promise it will help, she shares her food ideas and struggles, etc, and she’s very insightful. Start from the beginning of her journey...she’s now three years out and takes you all the way through. You’re going to feel much better soon...you just need to get past the first few months. The bypass is very different than the sleeve. I had the bypass and my friend had the sleeve and I was WAY more restricted because of dumping and fact we don’t absorb nutrients as much , plus the pouch Is smaller. Take care.

  3. I changed surgeons (possibly). I had a first opinion, decided to go with my second opinion, then decided to go back to my first opinion on the advice of my gastroenterologist. I’m waiting for my insurance referral, then I have a few questions to ask him. I want to make sure he either shortens or lengthens (not sure which) the RNY so I don’t have the issues I hadwith the first bypass. All I wanted was the Nissen Fundoplication for my reflux but because I have a 10mm hiatel hernia and a mass I have to have the bypass and stomach removal to fix all issues. I told doc if they can’t do it in July, then we have to wait until end of September or October because my son is getting married in September and I don’t want to be in pain or sick, or in case there are complications, I don’t want to ruin his wedding.

  4. Hopefully it’s not. Hernia, and most likely just blood and swelling. Try the premiere shakes in the morning, then later when you’ve healed more watery oatmeal or something. You may not be able to drink milk so soon or at least if you do drink skim or 1%. I drink almond milk unsweetened and I love it...I hope my pouch likes it after my surgery. Have you had a chance to check out all mini me in Tennessee a videos...she’ll inspire you.

  5. Goodness... it’s so soon. I’m betting it was a combo of the cereal and antibiotics. My motto is going to be this too shall pass haha. I hope the acid is not an issue for you. If they fixed the hernia then it shouldn’t be. Give it a bit more time and see what happens. I’m still waiting for my surgery date.

  6. I’m glad you’re feeling better😊 keep us posted. Granted my bypass was 17 years (now reversed) ago but being able to eat an egg, half piece of bacon and 1/4 biscuit does seem like a lot so soon out...your pouch should be 30 cc if my homework is correct. Ask your doc how big your pouch is.

  7. Good Luck. I’m still on the fence but my situation is unique. Had a bypass 27 years ago and reversed it 5 months after due to malabsorption issues. I literally had a nervous breakdown. I was 345 at the start and 250 at reversal. I’m now 275, 5 ft 8 and 54 years old. Doc says I have a mass in my stomach from PPIs and a 10cm Hiatel hernia which is super large...he says bypass only option To fix all but I don’t want it. I’m so scared and feel like no one can help. Want to lose weight on my own, just lost 40 lbs. but even if I do, the hiatel hernia need to be fixed and Nissen Fundoplication I hear is not 100%. Can’t believe my predicament.

  8. Christina,

I am in the exact same position. I literally had to get a sedative from my doctor yesterday because I too am so afraid. I just want my hiatel hernia and reflux fixed. I’ve successfully lost 40 lbs (75 to go) on my own...but I have to do this for the same reasons as you. Please reach out to me as we can benefit from one another I think. Good luck

  9. I pray this resolves tour issues. I do wish there were other options. I personally would rather have the Nissen Fundoplication but my BMI is still 40 so they won’t do it . I asked if I just went on a liquid diet and lost the weight so my BMI would be lower but the tumor could turn into cancer so they want to take it out.

  10. Hello,

just wanted to share my story. It’s quite unique, and I’m hoping I hear some positives because I’m so depressed.

17 years ago I had a gastric bypass. I was 345 lbs and due to terrible back, I decided to do the surgery. The bypass went well, no complications. When it was time to introduce solids, I simply couldn’t. Everything made me dump..soups, eggs, everything including shakes. I stopped eating and ended up having a reversal to save my life. The reversal happened 5 months after bypass. Since then I’ve suffered every single day with gerd. Now I have a hiatel hernia that’s 4 mm with a benign mass and an ulcer. I just saw a surgeon and he said no other option than to do a gastric bypass. It’s that or I could die from the growth of the mass and hernia. I think I’m most scared about food not agreeing with me again.

Can those of you out at least 6 months and up to a couple of years share your diets with me?

  11. Hello,

Just reaching out...I’m worried because my doctor is recommending a gastric bypass and I don’t want it. I had one 17 years ago and had to reverse it due to malabsorption issues. Now I have a very large hiatel hernia and he says there’s no other option. I can’t believe I’m back here 😢
