Approved!!!! 2 Days To GO!!!!
Shanda_2019 replied to KimB7811's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations !!!!!! -
Hi there, I was submitted for approval last week so now I'm just waiting on insurance. I just wanted to check and see how your liquid diet is going. Do you have any suggestions on this process, since I will be starting my liquid diet soon ( fingers crossed ).

Tomorrow will make a week that I had my last weigh in at the surgeons office. Today I sent an email and left a voicemail for my insurance advocate inquiring about my file being forwarded to the insurance. I even sent her information from my last dr visit, which was the day before my last weigh in, just Incase she needed something extra. NO answer, do these people not realize how inpatient “we” are once you have completed everything that was asked of us. I’m hoping she gets back to me before the end of the week, because I can’t go another weekend waiting just to be submitted for approval. #prayingforpatience

Good morning, so my advocate emailed this morning saying that I was submitted to insurance last week. Yay !!!!!! Now the WAIT really begans

That’s the problem I don’t know when she’s going to submit for insurance approval. I understand the insurance company may take 7-14 business days. I just don’t know if it’s been submitted.

Well today was my last weigh in appointment. Upper GI, Psych eval, sleep study, dietician appt , 3 month supervised diet all complete. 1st weight 257 lbs. 2nd weight 259 lbs. 3rd (today) 255 lbs. I have Aetna Choice POS ii and from being on this forum and from what my insurance advocate says I need to stay at my original weight or come in 5 lbs under for the finally weight. So with those above #’s I’m hoping I don’t have to start over with the supervised diet. Anyway I feel good about the next step which is submitting everything to insurance. We are still waiting for sleep study results that should be in by the end of the week. I’m praying that I can have my surgery next month so keep me in your prayers. Thanks 😊

Why do you have to do Weight Watchers? Is the 6 month supervised diet basically the same thing, except it’s with a physician. I’ve heard of people using WW as part of the 2 year weight loss history. Just wondering this is new to me, what insurance do you have ?

PLEASE - any recommended DR's with 4 hr drive of Dallas-Ft Worth area?
Shanda_2019 replied to KarenLR75's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Texas Bariatric Specialists they have several locations around central Texas. I’m in Austin but I have to travel to San Antonio for surgery because that’s where the hospital is my surgeon use. Good luck !!!! -
How long did you have to wait after gaining the 3lbs ?
-
They did tell me 6 hrs each night and that it will automatically shut off after 6 hrs.
-
I picked up my machine this morning to do the at home sleep study. I was told that I have to sleep with it for 3 consecutive nights for accurate results. For those of you who did the at home sleep study, how many nights did you have to sleep with the machine ?
-
I can relate...... my husband works the nightshift so I should be able to complete this with no interruptions.

congratulation!!!

So my advocate called today and said my insurance requires 2 years of weight history. I can only provide 1 year from the dr which is 2018 because I didn’t have a PCP in 2017. So she suggested that I write a letter and send pics explaining my reasons for wanting the surgery. So my question is has anyone submitted pics to the insurance for your 2 weight history? What was your your outcome if you did ?

2 yr weight history
Shanda_2019 replied to Shanda_2019's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to piece together the places I went to and got weights from all the different people! I had 2 dr visits in 2018 so I was able to get that, but my advocate said write a letter and send pictures for 2017. Since she is the insurance advocate she should know what they will accept. I'm just praying that works. Do you have Aetna insurance ? -

Shanda_2019 replied to Shanda_2019's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So what did you have to do to satisfy the 2 year weight requirement ? -
My last in weigh in is in 2 weeks and I need to loose 10lbs. This is really stressing me out because I gained 3lbs on my 2nd weigh in. If I don’t loose then I will be denied and have to start all over. I recently quit smoking and that contributed to my weight gain. OMG !!!!!!!

Thank you

Wow!!!! What insurance do you have ? My advocate basically told me if I didn’t have dr documentation that I could always use pictures and write a letter. -

Thank you for that suggestion, Aetna POS II. -
For those with insurance did you pay your portion of the hospital bill up front or did you have them bill you ?

Psych Evaluation
Shanda_2019 replied to Shanda_2019's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeons office scheduled my Psych eval with a company that they work with. I live in Austin TX and my surgeon and Psychiatrist are based in San Antonio TX , but they travel to Austin once a month for services. -
Psych Evaluation
Shanda_2019 replied to Shanda_2019's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well my appointment with the Psychiatrist went well. I spent most of my time answering a 370 questionnaire and listening to the Dr speak to a group of 10. After that we each had a one on one visit that lasted about 30 minutes. I also meet with the dietician and say the surgeon assistant to go over my labs. Next month will be my last weigh in and the last step is my sleep study. I did gain 3lbs. so hopefully that want cause any issues with the insurance approval. My goal is to loose 10lbs by my next visit and hopefully I will be approved for May. -

That’s the thing I believe a lot of this is just that Human feelings and thoughts. I’m a 44 yr old woman so yes my body is feeling many different things and I don’t want Psych Dr. telling me I have issues when I know better. So how about I just answer No and move on .
