  1. I listened to The Weight Loss Surgery podcast. It is great! It gave me all kinds of information I never would have thought to ask about. Check it out you won’t regret it. It really focused on understanding obesity, the mental/ emotional challenges pre and post op. Physical changes and physiology of the surgery.
  2. Call me crazy but I am practicing for my liquid pre op diet. My doctor requires a two week liquid diet pre operatively. The list says no fruit or yogurt😐. I don’t want to go into the two weeks cold and set myself up for cheats and extreme bitchiness. Has anyone prepped for the liquid diet by doing a few days here and there leading up to surgery?
  3. The test runs did prepare me for the pre op diet. I am on day 5 and doing well. I have been able to not be hungry and extra cranky. I have been low energy and my sleep has been off but aside from that things are going well.
  4. And keep in mind that you have no idea what your energy levels are going to be like. It is asking a lot of your body to be stage ready and be able to give a good show so soon from surgery.
  5. I have tried a bunch of shakes the syntrax nectars are really tasty. They have a wide variety of flavors like fuzzy navel, red grapefruit and even cappuccino. You can order the variety pack or even get one at a time.

Starting my 2 week liquid diet today. 🥴
  9. I just discovered that peppermint tea is an awesome appetite suppressant! I have been drinking it in place of coffee in the morning to cut back on calories (heavy cream) and caffeine. Late into the morning I wasn’t feeling hungry and was shocked. It was the tea.
  10. Google is your friend. There are plenty of recipe ideas and meal plans on the internets that are for the purée stage of recovery. I made a ricotta bake without meat just sauce and cheese and it was great. My kids even liked it. Do you have a blender? You can make your own purées as well.

    Progress!!

I love it! The best part is that you are both getting healthier together. Those are some #couplegoals
  12. I feel you on not doing it too early if you don't have to because of the food restrictions that follow the procedure. I just know that the easier I make it on myself the better off I will be for the two weeks before. I haven't done full days just cutting back on my solid meals through out the day and learning how my body feels when it is truly hungry and not just wanting to chew.
  13. Thank you everyone for your input and ideas. I picked up some sugar free popsicles and will be trying them as a snack.

  18. I am a little over a month out from my surgery (3/18) and I am going through a range of emotions. I am nervous about the pain and discomfort following the procedure. I am anxious about getting on this weight loss journey (yet again) and I am trying to wrap my head around how my relationship with food is going to change. Any words of wisdom are appreciated.

  21. This is the same for me. I am bone on bone in my right knee. The left knee isn't too far behind. I am currently 268lbs at 5'5" The knee has slowed my down a lot. I have gotten orthovisc injections in my knee which help temporarily but I know losing weight is going to help a great deal. I go in for surgery 3/18/19.
