I hope it doesn’t offend anyone for my “hearts” on your posts. I’m a stalker of this thread. I keep thinking “this will be me in a year “. Thank you all for inspiration.

I bet if you bring something health-ish your friends will thank you! What about doing fruit skewers with strawberries, watermelon and grapes. You could make a sugar free (sweeten with Stevia) yogurt dip and add a little food color to make it pink. There are tons of ideas on pinterest.
A good old fashion veggie tray always seems to be a hit! Pink or not!
If you don't want to drink alcohol but want to feel like you are celebrating, bring some pink crystal light!
Stick to your plan and try to focus on the companionship versus the food!
Good luck and have a great day!

8 months post-VSG here, and officially 100lbs down (286 to 186). Weight loss still going at about a pound a week, but am way past my original target (219), off all BP meds, and feeling good. Still not spending enough time in the gym - got to focus on that next!

Today (well depends on the time zone I guess!) is my one year surgiversary. So glad I made this decision. I’m enjoying my life so much more, and I was reasonably content before! 😊😊

I am five months post op and only down 43lbs. The scale has not moved in over two months no matter what I have done. Exercise, Protein, sleep the scale won't move but I have lost a lot of inches because I was in a 26/28 pants and now in a 16/18. I still think I should be past 50lbs. My surgeon wanted me to have the bypass and I refused. At my three month check up he said I was right where I should be but I don't think so. I really am just glad that I am not out of breath anymore. I am doing more things and not coming home from work and getting in my bed to veg out and watch tv. I haven't changed my ticker because I barely come on here. Just being nosey I guess. lol I lost my mom in October all of sudden for no reason so I really have not cared about much of anything else.

Some people lose some of their hair. Search for the term "telogen effluvium." This happens at 3 months up to a year, but seldom lasts for over 6 months. It can happen after any major stress or surgery, from a hormone imbalance, and low calorie intake, amongst other things. I'm at month 4 with no Hair loss.

Hopefully bringing back this thread because I enjoyed reading through it so much! At almost 10 months out, I've lost 100 pounds and have another 20 to go! My latest non-scale victories:
-Had to get my license photo retaken at the DMV because airport security at DFW airport would not let me through as they did not believe I was the same woman on my license!
    -Bought size 2 jeans
-My skin has been significantly clearer
-Can now share clothes with my 11-year-old sister 😂

Hope to read about all the amazing things you guys are doing!
    Best wishes to all

You can do it!!! The one thing I wasn’t prepared for was the lethargy and complete lack of energy. I was on full , Clear Liquids so I couldn’t do Protein Shakes. I used Protein waters and found I really liked the fruit flavored ones. I find them too sweet now but at the time they were great. sugar free popsicles were a God send. I liked the broths but they had a tendency to go right through me. But no, in answer to your question. I didn’t do any trials beforehand. You got this!!!

That's great!!! Just a word of advice, don't overbuy. What you think you're going to want/need before surgery is not the same as what you will actually want/need after surgery. Of course, have your Protein Shakes, gas tablets etc. lined up in advance, but I spent a few hundred on stuff I didn't need/use--don't make the same mistake. If turns out you want/need something you don't have, Amazon can get it to you in two days (one day if you want to pay a few extra dollars).

I lost 16 lbs in the first month, and 12 in the second month. The biggest lesson I learned is to never compare yourself to others. We all lose at different rates for all different reasons - age, gender, starting BMI, metabolism rate, whether or not we lost a lot of weight pre-op, etc. Your commitment to your program will have MUCH more impact on your eventual success than your rate of weight loss will. I was a slow loser from the get-go, and I lost every last pound of my excess weight. I just kept my nose to the grindstone and followed all the rules..

So, I shared with my mom that I would like to lose another 78 pounds, but she doesn't think I need to. I mean, I've never been this size even, let alone smaller than this, so I don't even know if 175 is a do-able goal for me, but it seems like it should be. BMI-wise, I'll still be overweight. I'm super happy with where I am, but I want to keep going. I guess I don't really have a question; I'm more just getting this out there. I guess I really won't know what my body is capable of until I get closer to that weight.
I was telling a coworker this, and she said that she thinks that I need to workout to tighten things up. She's right; I do need to workout, but things on me will never be tight, and I told her that. I will have lost close to 300 pounds when I get to goal, and people that lose that amount of weight aren't going to have tight skin; that's just the way it is.

I had lap band surgery in 2010 and it worked amazing until 2016 when my band slipped. My band was removed and I was told I would probably gain all the weight back and have to do another weight loss surgery.

I've been so depressed the past two years as I watched the scale go up and felt powerless. In August I decided to look into the Gastric Sleeve. I had my surgery on 2.7.19 and in many ways, it feels like starting over again. I am motivated to be successful and to have this be lasting weight loss this time.

Went for my first postop app with my surgeon yesterday. He asked if I had tried chicken yet and I said no I didn't think I was allowed. He told me that at this point it is fine to eat foods as tolerated. That it is actually good for the healing process to eat solid foods that stretch everything slightly as this helps to prevent contraction, over tightness and eating problems .
So dinner last night was roasted chicken (from the supermarket) and veg. It went down fine. This morning I ate a small bowl ( approx 120ml) muesli. That was fine as well.
    Loving my bypass!

Don't worry about anything at this point except Water. Just keep sipping water all day. Dehydration is the #1 reason for ER visits directly after WLS. Your body has enough reserves to keep itself going for a long time without consuming Protein. That will get easier as time goes by. You're not failing, what you're experiencing is completely normal. You got this!
