  1. It has been 6 weeks since my gastric sleeve. I am down about 22 pounds on a good day. I have had two stalls already one around 15 pounds and now another and it is driving me crazy. Is it a stall or am I a slow loser? How do you know the difference? I am exercising more but nothing too intense. My nutritionist said that because my calorie intake is low not to push the exercising too hard. I drink lots of Water, I get my Protein, but have not always eat perfectly. I ate Cookies at my Uncles memorial service and have eaten breaded chicken quite a few times.

22 pounds in 6 weeks, to the experts out there how does that sound, normal, slow, etc? Should I stop weighing myself every day?! I kinda already know the answer to that.

One thing is that I can eat anything, Noting upsets my stomach. I guess that's a blessing.

I'm 3.5 months out. My cycle is all over the place. First cycle was 5 weeks apart, then 3 weeks, then 6 weeks, then 2 weeks. And they are heavy - much heavier than before. And worse cramps. Maybe it'll even out?

That sounds awesome. =( My cycle is already not normal. I hope it evens out.

  3. Hi, for all you ladies out there who are still visited by aunt flow every month, how was it affected after surgery? I feel like a mess in that department and am not sure what is going on. My mood is sour and I want to bite everyone's head off so that seems like PMS but could just be that I'm a !@#$

If you don't mind sharing something so personal than I would appreciate the advice.

Do you have a recipe for the Soup? I would like to make that......

    Vegan, Gluten-Free

    Ingredients

    • 1 tablespoon coconut oil (or oil of choice)

    • 1 medium onion, diced

    • 2 cloves garlic, minced

    • 1 1/2 tablespoons freshly grated ginger

    • 2 teaspoons curry powder

    • 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric

    • 1 cup red lentils

    • 2 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into large dice

    • 4 cups low-sodium vegetable broth

    • 1 teaspoon sea salt + more to taste

    • Freshly cracked black pepper

    • 1-2 teaspoons maple Syrup (optional)

    • For serving: coconut yogurt and fresh cilantro

    Directions

    1. Select the Sauté setting on your Instant Pot and heat up the coconut oil. Once it's shimmering, add the onion and cook for 3-4 minutes until slightly softened.

    2. Add the garlic, ginger, curry powder and turmeric and stir until aromatic, about 30 seconds.

    3. Add the lentils, sweet potatoes, vegetable broth, sea salt, and pepper. Stir to combine all of the ingredients. Select the Cancel setting.

    4. Secure the lid of the Instant Pot and seal. Select the Pressure Cook (or Manual, depending on your model) setting and cook at high pressure for 10 minutes.

    5. Once the 10 minutes is up, allow a natural pressure release for 10 minutes. Open the Instant Pot and give the Soup a stir. Taste for seasonings. You may want to add more salt, or to balance the acidity, you may want to add a teaspoon or two of maple syrup or sugar.

    6. Once the soup has slightly cooled, top with coconut yogurt and fresh cilantro.

I added carrots and celery. It looks kinda gross but it was really tasty. I added a lot of salt...he he and I did add maple syrup

  5. I saw the nutritionist 2 days ago and confessed to my egg, chicken, and lentil eating. I was scared but she said that it was fine. If I can tolerate it then no problem. I am staying away from carbs and I've heard chips and crackers are easy to eat with a sleeve and can mess up weight loss so I am staying far away from them. Tonight I made lentil Soup in my instanpot and it was delicious. I like lentils because they have Protein and also a lot of Fiber so a little is filling and can help with going potty. Eating a lot of protein is supposed to satisfy hunger longer than carbs.

  6. I had surgery on 1/27 and I felt what you are describing when I got home from the hospital. I had a full on panic attack and had to take a Xanax. Losing food as a coping tool is very hard for me, it's truly been one of the things I can count on my whole life. It's a major life change and that is scary, fear of messing it up, not feeling like myself...there was a lot of crazy emotions. Once I got a routine and felt like I was getting all my vitamin's, Protein and Water in I felt better. Also, I have a therapist and she answered my calls when I was flipping out and talking with her really helped. Also, though my husband didn't understand what I was going through he was very supportive.

It will totally get better, I am sorry you are feeling this way.

  7. I'm new here. I am a 44-year-old Graduate student earning a masters in Social Work. I have 2 kiddos and a hubby. I am obsessed with my Pomeranian, Rocket. I love traveling, going to amusement parks, the beach and the mountains. I watch too much TV and used to go out to eat and stuff my face until about 2 weeks ago when I suddenly lost 70-80% of my stomach. Weird.

  8. Hi, I have been looking for the January 2019 group, finally found it. I had my surgery on 1/27/2019. My Highest weight was 253, I think my surgery weight was 248 a week after surgery I was 235. Now, a week later I am still 235 and the scale is not moving. I feeling frustrated about that. How can I be consuming so little and the scale does not move? I've heard about stall's but I was hoping they wouldn't happen to me...j/k

  9. I'm not making any assumptions but were you an emotional eater? I have found that since I am not able to eat as I used to that I am having a lot more anxiety. I realize now that I used to eat to help deal with my anxiety, now without food I am having to feel it. It's not comfortable but in a way, I feel good that I am not using food to cope right now.

  10. I am not a good one to ask because I've gotten so hungry I had an egg and last night I ate some of my kids chicken breast. I know I'm not supposed to, but the chicken breast is the first time I felt full, not stuffed but full. I don't know how many Protein Shakes I should have. By like 1pm I've had 60 grams of Protein. I have my follow up next week so I'll see what they suggest.

I have a coffee Protein Shake for breakfast-20grams

    A Premier Protein water-20grams

Premier shake for lunch-20grams.......so by 1 I'm at 60...can you have too much protein in a day.

    Good luck

  11. For those of you that have done the sleeve surgery and started exercising, when did you start? I am 1 week out today and I feel like I would like to at least get on a treadmill or stationary bike. When did you guys start to exercise and what did you start with?

  12. Hi everyone. I am glad to find this forum. I had my surgery last Thursday. I am 6 days out and I feel hungry...almost all the time. I have yet to feel super full. I have not been nauseous at all and no heartburn, I am grateful for both of those things. The first 2 days after surgery were painful but the last few days I've felt good. I have heard people say that they are not hungry in the beginning but I am. My stomach feels empty. I ended up eating an egg today and I was able to eat the whole thing no problem. I have also heard people say there was no way they could eat a whole egg. I am starting to think that the Dr. didn't make my stomach small enough.

Anyone else hungry their first week and able to eat more than you thought you'd be able to?
