I can absolutely relate! I had my first ricotta bake last night just because I had to have something with substance, not just liquid or slimy yogurt. It still amazes me that it can take me 45 minutes to an hour to finish something the size of a half baked muffin. Just the act of chewing something was great. I’m not advocating not following your Doc’s plan, but I do agree that 24 hours may not make a huge difference as long as it is something from the next phase.

It’s my first day back to work and my one week post op appointment. 14lbs gone since surgery which is unreal. No more pain meds so I can drive. Thought I’d be more “on” at work but, man o’ man, am I dragging. I’m at an office so no heavy lifting or excessive movement but still just wiped out. Hope everyone else is doing well.

I started the same thing yesterday! It cuts the sweetness of the Protein Drink and ups my total liquids. I never thought that I’d crave Tomato Soup and organic applesauce...hurry up Thursday!

Anybody noticed the taste bud changes? I’d heard about the possibility but was surprised that has happened to me. Things are much sweeter than pre-op. It also seems that my sense of smell has kicked into high gear. I can’t even have chilled Water from the fridge if there is uncovered food in there. I can taste it in the water.

I have to admit, I’m having a hard time getting my Protein in. Doing my walking and sip sip sip. I still have gas pains in my forearms, of all places. So weird. Hope everyone else is rocking and rolling.

I’m surprised by the amount of pain. I just got home from the hospital and am really looking forward to the gas pain leaving.

Luckily, my liquid diet isn’t required to do until 24 hours before surgery. I’m still on the high protein/low carb. I do use the Premier Protein drinks that I get from costco. I had my preadmission testing today so everything seems to still be on track.

I don’t know about you, but I almost feel like I have VSG fatigue. By that, I mean I think I’ve looked at every video on YouTube dealing with guys going thru this as well as read this site for the past 12 months. It almost feels anticlimactic getting to the end of my pre-op journey and starting my post-op. (Funny side note, my auto correct changed “pre-op” to “Oreo”...oh the irony).
I’m not complaining, just pontificating on a Saturday night.

Nice, we will literally be going through things at the same time. Are you on full liquid diet now? Mine is high Protein, no carbs until 7 days out.

Meet too. I feels a bit surreal that it’s about to happen. Sure has taken long enough to get here. Good luck. We share the same surgery date.
Just got my date! Now what?!

No regrets from my perspective. Honestly, if I went back in time to a month before surgery, I’d give myself one weekend of food funerals (just not within the 2 week pre-op diet). I know that sounds weird, but there will be times after where “head-hunger” is real even though you could not eat more than a bite or two of whatever you are craving. I have stuck to my eating plan and the restrictions are a huge help but sometimes I do miss a big burger or pizza. Btw, I’ve had burgers and pizza since surgery, just no more than a couple of bites. I’m no self control guru either, it is like I just finished Thanksgiving dinner...I feel so full. Good luck!
