Binglebug1977 got a reaction from Krimsonbutterflies in Help! Relief for pain of over-filling my sleeve
Hello all. I was sleeved on 12/17 and, for the first time, I think I over-filled my sleeve. Not with food but with medication. I take several pills in the middle of the day. I took them one at a time but I think too close together. I'm in such pain. It's like waves of pain through my chest and radiating to the back. Any way to ease the pain??

Hello. I am 8 days post-OP and I've weighed myself once. I had a 20lb loss, which is incredible. Any thoughts on how often I should weigh in? Does it matter?

Binglebug1977 got a reaction from GreenTealael in No protein shakes! Possible or no?
Hello! I have not even been scheduled for surgery yet but I've been doing lots of research and lately have been thinking a lot about my diet post-surgery. I hate Protein Shakes, powder...anything like that. I cannot overstate how much I loathe them. Is it possible to have a healthy diet without them? Would anyone be willing to share examples of daily food that doesn't include them?

I stopped using shakes before I hit 3 months post-op. I can totally get all my Protein from food. I keep a few around in case I have a rough day and need to augment, but I no longer have them in regular rotation.

Binglebug1977 got a reaction from IcySupreme in Gastric sleeve and fibromyalgia
Hello all. I am new to the forum and am in the beginning stages of the surgery process. I have chosen the sleeve and have seen the required psychologist. I will still need to see the nutritionist.
I'd like to know if there are any fibromyalgia sufferers who have had the sleeve surgery? I am worried about how living with this condition may negatively impact my success. Any thoughts and experiences are greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

I had my sleeve surgery on 12/20/18 and I had many concerns with my fibromyalgia as well. For the first 2 weeks or so, I felt great. I take tramadol for pain daily and was able to cut my dose in half. I was walking daily and everything seemed to be okay. I was worried about getting exercise in because everyone said it was key to success so I went to the gym a few times. Mind you I did not work out prior to surgery because it always put me in a flare up. Well even though I exercised for sometimes only 15 minutes I hit a wall and have had a major flare up that has lasted for weeks. I am back on the full dose of my Tramadol and no longer feel "great". My pre surgery weight was 204.4. After pre-op diet I was 194.2 and am now 6 weeks out and am 180.4. Everyone is different so don't compare yourself to others. I have never found anything that relieves my pain in over 25 years so I had no expectations going in to this. Taking pills was never really a problem for me after surgery. While I couldn't eat much, the pills went down fine. As far as recovery I think I did just as well as anyone else. I still have problems getting in the amount of Protein, calories and Water so I think that is why I stay so low energy all the time but who knows it could be the fibromyalgia. This is not meant to be a negative post just a summary of my experience. Positive attitude is everything when you are healing from a surgery. You will do great and it just takes a little coordination to get your meal prep in.

100% normal right now. Oh honey, your body is already running off of the fat cells just to keep you upright, so you are getting a big old hormone dump.

Since we hardly get any nutrients early on, we are using way more calories than we take in just to think, breathe and keep our organs running. So our bodies are just throwing fat cells into the furnace and those hormones are raging.

It WILL continue to get better, bit I know that doesn't help now. Vent here. Rant here. Let us support you, cheer for you and Celebrate with you.

If you DO want to journal, don't think of it as a "dear diary" type thing. It can be your thoughts, song lyrics, doodles, or even a giant profanity scrawled across the page! LoL

Whatever you feel, feel it. Your experience is valid and real. Allowing yourself to feel thos stuff now will help you beat cravings later because you will know that you can live through the feelings without food. And you'll be a rockstar!

Well you do have us, you can vent to us, because even if you feel in your ❤you are the only one to feel this way, we all at sometime had our own " swampy" moments, where all you can see is Dismal Swamp all around you. We did get better and I am sure you will too. Its a little like producing a baby. They hand you this small human, well the hospital SAID it was human, floppy, small as a loaf of bread, a loud noise at one end , no sense of responsibility at the other, and they tell you just to feed it well and raise it to maturity, but seldom do they give you an Owners Manual. And you return home, a little sore in the belly, a little light-headed, a little WTF did I have done to ME? But it gets better, you heal, you come to terms with what these new innards can do, and gradually you will reach your New Norm. Th8s is a Promise!

I too live with Fibromyalgia, and also RA and Lupus. I am 2 weeks post-op. I had the sleeve surgery and I am so happy I did! I too was very nervous and I have to say I’ve ready lost 20lbs and I can feel the difference! I’m so happy , I wake up with a lot less pain after only 2 weeks and 20lbs. I am pleasantly surprised at how good I feel and how much better my chronic pain is. I know this will not be a cure , but without a doubt only good positive things can come from carrying around 100lbs less of me 😊. I wish you all the best on your journey.

I also have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and am 2 weeks post op with my new sleeve. Since the start of my journey (I weighed in yesterday) I have lost a total of 45 lbs. and can definitely feel a different. My pain levels are not as high and I have reduced the use of anti inflammatorys and muscle relaxers. You are going to feel soooo much better. I wish you well on your journey. Keep us posted!
