    Low BMI Surgery

You can do it in the US with a 30 BMI no comorbidities as self pay. I am pretty certain for insurance to even consider it you have to be 35
  3. Dr Ganta. I think that’s who I talked to. The people in his or her office basically convinced me I needed single incision surgery if I ever wanted to show my abdomen again (think bikini). I found that this was not accurate. At least these little scars don’t bother me at all. I was self-pay so the $6K was a factor in my decision making. Here are pictures of my incisions five weeks postop. I think a spray tan would cover the suckers up easy peasy. Just sayin.
  4. There is another single incision surgeon in Austin. I am from Texas but I live in Florida. I almost flew all the way to Austin and spent an additional $6000 on the surgery to avoid the other laparoscopic entry points on my abdomen. I decided just to go ahead with a traditional sleeve and you cannot even see the tiny incisions.

    Low BMI Surgery

I’m “low BMI” 5 weeks post op. I would say yes, compared to others who are not categorized as “low”, my weight is definitely coming off slower. That said it seems to be somewhat consistent. It slowed to a crawl during week three but never officially stalled. At that point I was losing .2 pounds every day or every other day. now I seem to be losing about .2-.4 pounds a day at this rate. My BMI is already back down to a 27. I’m not dissatisfied with my progress until I start comparing my stats with others losing 10 pounds a week. I’m wanting to lose 60 pounds. I have already lost over a third of my excess weight and I’m only a month and a week out.

    February Sleevers - Help!

Oh yeah and that includes my pre-op weight loss. So I’m down 17 pounds from surgery in 5 weeks. Now I’m starting to feel disappointment in myself. I’ve been strutting around feeling all sexy and self confident over 17 measly pounds.

    February 2019 weight loss buds

My Dr said to avoid alcohol for the first month. I have since reintroduced it, but to my (pleasant) surprise- I don’t really like it! Wine was my favorite thing on the planet. Very stressful year last year and even without the stress I was known to regularly drink an entire bottle (or more) every night. I have tried a few different types of wine and I just don’t seem like them very much anymore and it takes me over an hour to drink 1/2 a glass. How wonderful is that!?! Tried one cocktail didn’t like it either. And I attempted to drink a sip of beer which I found to be completely intolerable. I went to the pool on Saturday and some of our (drinking) friends asked me what I had in my water bottle because it was pink. I told them Crystal light. They were like “you’re not drinking?”... Felt good to be on the other side and more importantly not to care. I don’t really miss it at all at this time.
  9. My doctors office told me to do ensure max. Higher protein lower sugar. But I did use the Premier protein waters until they just got too sweet for me a week ago... About three different flavors. They were a lifesaver during the first few weeks.

    February 2019 weight loss buds

My weight loss had really really slowed (0-0.2 pounds a day) but then this week I lost a pound in 24 hours. I am taking in more calories and it seems to have boosted my metabolism and I’m much more “regular” now as well ( Im consuming more fats so maybe that’s why?). I’m starting to settle in and understand how much/what I can eat with no problems so I’m having less and less issues. About 3 tablespoons and I’m DONE.

Let us know what happens with your appointment please. That’s crazy and very dangerous. I had never realized that dehydration could have those results. They did not advise you to go to the ER I guess?

    Breast Lift with Implants

I’m in Florida now but I am from Livingston/Jasper/Nacogdoches/Lufkin/Midtown/the Woodlands/KLEIN - Go Bearcats!! I used the Baylor residence program for a lot of cosmetic surgeries/Botox. I had liposuction and breast lift/ implants in 2008. My implants are way too big for me now but at the time they seemed like a logical idea. Looking to get those removed/ revised. I have since had two accidents and now suffer with back pain. Baylor did a great job with my lipo (Of course I gained back all the crap that I had liposucked our and ended up having a sleeve years later). But it’s a great program if you haven’t looked into it yet... I paid like $3400 for boobs and $4000 for the rest - 2 different surgeries. Would have been cheaper but I opted for the overnight hospital package at Methodist. I just wanted to comfort of staying in a hospital bed overnight with 24 hours care. Anyway, just my 2 cents...

I told the nurse in my doctors office that I’m not eating so I shouldn’t be having bowel movements and they said no, absolutely not. Protein should be enough for you to have a bowel movement. So if I was getting adequate protein I should definitely be having bowel movements. That’s when they told me it was “my responsibility” to take care of this. It can be dangerous not to go to the restroom for so long. You should try some Dulcolax with me!

I don’t think you should be discouraged. You had such a difficult start that I would assume you probably have lots of fluid retention, swelling and adjustment your body is going to have to go through. Just try to stay positive. Are you having bowel movements? Not to get personal but just wondering if that could be part of the deal. Also I found this article about a week ago that talked about the liver shrinking diet we do before surgery. Says that our liver naturally wants to return to its original size which means growing in size and weight. This happens week two- week three, according to this thing I read. Considering your circumstances I would definitely say your body has some healing to do.

Not to be negative because overall I feel good. But I feel you when you say you want to eat but can’t.... I started cooking again and made chicken enchiladas on Friday. Ate about 3 forkfuls. That was very good. Then I made a massive quantity of chicken salad on Saturday. I have been eating that too because there’s really nothing too bad in there. I use light mayonnaise. I’m able to cut the chicken and really tiny pieces or shred it before I put it in the recipe and then I chew the hell out of it. The second I eat anything I can hear my stomach gurgling so I probably shouldn’t be pushing it but it doesn’t make me sick or nauseated anything negative just lots and lots of gurgling. I can live with gurgling I suppose.

That’s me, after using the restroom, usually with no heavy clothes. It’s how I weighed the first time, and ever since. Im losing 0 to 0.2 pounds a day. I’m still only able to eat 1/2 egg in the morning. Night before last, daughter had a slumber party and I ate a whole breadstick (took me 2 sittings but I can eat larger quantities later in the day) so thought surely I had blown it but I’m down .2 pounds this morning. I do think eating (and pooping!) are important. The more I seem to eat the scale surprises me. Of course this is within the bounds of eating Tablespoon quantities. Dr. told me that my bowel movements are “my responsibility”. Ever since then I have been taking Dulcolax every other day. I don’t go every day but as long as I go once in a while I feel much healthier. Another fun time I’ve been having is that my car was broken into and someone stole my Percocet, which I have been taking daily for one year, since an accident I was involved in where I was ejected on to the concrete. I have such bad back pain, broken vertebrae, Multiple herniated disc’s and they are looking towards finally doing surgery now. So not eating food, Being in pain, (and to some degree) going through minor opioid withdrawal’s has been a blast!! Good times, good times!

    Hair Loss. Gastric Bypass.

Now that I have made it successfully through the sleeve surgery and I am almost one month out, my new greatest fear is losing my hair!! I wish there was some sort of survey available to us or study or something that I could read that would give me some relief from the anxiety I have about this. I worry about things that haven’t even happened yet! I’m just wondering the type of surgery, age of the person, protein, vitamins, or perhaps other factors are at play. I have had numerous surgeries in the past and never lost one hair. My nails and hair have always grown long and thick. Just hoping that it is not noticeable if it happens. I read one article it said people typically lose 5 to 15% of their hair. I’m sure this varies person-to-person. I have seen photos of people with large bald spots or very thin hair on top. I wonder what percent of people actually lose their hair after weight-loss surgery.... anyone know?
