  1. I keep thinking that I can eat steak.. and i am NOW positive that it will no longer be part of my diet again.. the pain that I feel now and I cannot even keep liquids down.. what I need to know is where does all this Mucous come from! I feel like something that you need to call Ghostbusters on! here is the good part .. i will be back on liquids for at least another 24 -48 hours , which i will no doubt be able to drop another two pounds. it is a vicious thing.

  2. Maincat - it is so funny because i was just stuck on your pic profile and it looks like you took twenty years off.. You look amazing. And the side shot.. The camera almost missed you .. You are so slim. I never knew i had a collar bone and my dimples in my cheeks are more noticeable now. It definitely is a change in the right direction.

  3. Well ladies - I have to say that next to my band, my breast reduction was the best thing I could have had done. I went from a 44F/G to a 40DD. It was not a drastic jump because I was still somewhat heavy and Dr. did not want me to be out of proportion. I had no loss in sensation to the breasts and after completely healing , you should go to a specialty shop and be measured for a good fitting bra.. you will look fabulous if you have on the right undergarment. with the reduction I also got a lift. so ' the girlz" were standing at attention even without a bra.. I felt like Zena Warrior Princess - lol - Good luck

  4. I was also told to give "limit" caffeine prior to surgery.. but i do not recall having to give it up all together. I now drink about 2 cups a day. I was not sure that i was going to be able to drink coffee without cream and sugar. but now the thought of sugar in my coffee most days makes me sick. . you will be amazed at the things you think you will miss but eventually not miss at all. good luck

  5. Denise.. the best that they can put it as is a bad case of Gerd or gastritis..hormornal changes blah , blah.. however, since I have gone back to liquids for a few days and have taken meds for Reflux, it seems to be doing better.. Thanks for the concern.. I will keep you posted. BTW.. I suffered from GERD prior to the surgery and felt like I was having a heart attack.. i have always been High DRAMA.. lol.. and I do recall eating a lot of highly acidic foods prior to this attack. and drinking alcohol. ( which the doctor asked me as well) I have to rule out whatever caused this attack and make sure I do not repeat it!!!!

  6. I am going through a similar feeling now. I can swallow liquids but I have been sliming after anything solid.( which has also had some pain in the esophagus).. It feels like it is getting stuck and then the mucus follows. I went to the doctor because I have not even had a fill... So I was placed on liquids for a few days and told to stay away from solids.. I have also been told to stay away from Caffeine, picey foods and also take Aciphex. It is the strangest thing. because I did not have this problem a week ago.. Although I do miss solid foods, the pain was unbearable , not to mention sliming and pbing after two bites of food.. Has this happened to anyone else?????

  7. Well - I think I have a dilema... I have been sliming after every meal for the past two days.. At first I thought it was because my first drink of the day was a cold glass of Crystal Lite. waited and when I felt better drank some coffee. I have not been able to eat anything other than Soup and Gatorade without major sliming episodes..and it still feels like something is stuck in my Esophogus.. if this does not clear up by tomorrow. vacation over.. I am making a dash to my doctor..........

  8. wow ...that's deep... sorry this happened to you.. at least you were in the hospital and not out in public. for some reason , i was not able to move my bowels until 3-4 days after surgery.. but i will be warned now because the gas is a real problem with me.. I am about 7 weeks post op..

  9. You can do it Melissa.. I agree with the poster about Atkins .. no carbs.. Protein , Protein.. get rid of soda and ALL sugar.. and it will happen for you.... You are going to have to modify and change your diet anyway after surgery. I wish you all the best of luck.. I know you will be successful....I was the biggest sugar fiend and now i cannot tolerate it... sugar gives me violent stomach cramps.. even Splenda.. go figure..

  10. Hello Claudine. I think that if you commit to the new eating habits and have a positive attitude, you will succeed. For me, once the weight started coming off I became even more motivated and it becomes almost obsessive.. I have been setting goals for myself and I also have a great support team. Letting people know that you are getting banded can work in your favor, if you share the information with those that will make encourage you to stick with your new lifestyle. That is why it is important to join groups like this .. I have been blessed with having so many good support systems.. Take care and good luck.. Side bar: If you get a great surgeon and regular fills , you are guaranteed to lose.....

  11. I hear you Mick - and maybe it is just my ignorance because I do not know what the gay community has to go through on a daily basis or how they are perceived - yes I am a heterosexual mother ( but I do have gay friends who are parents as well so the ID should not be an indication! ) - but it frustrates me to know that anyone should have to feel uncomfortable relaying their sexual orientation , religious preference , etc. .. we are all Human beings.. Period...

  12. At times I feel extremely hungry as well, especially if I miss a meal and working from the road. But you have to give this thing a fighting chance. . so instead of burgers and fries. i get the same effect eating a veggie burger and believe it or not. veggie chips are just as satisfying as real potato chips. Pirates Booty is a good brand. I still can eat a lot, but I make better food choices. I still eat a cookie or two on the weekends - and I do not beat myself up about it at all..

instead of going to Wendy's or McDonalds .. go to Subway and get a tuna wrap... good luck to all..

  13. My co worker was telling me that she purchased one recently and it is a GREAT workout.. a lot of cardio and she and her kids love it .. She loves the cross country running! Down side. she said her weight pops up on the tv screen for all to see.. YUCK. - From what i hear it is a good investment if you are like me and find all excuses for not going to the gym.... BTW . she said the yoga is great as well..

  14. First off.. congrats on losing almost 40 lbs .which is almost 10 lbs a month. . i think the carb issue is what type of carbs are you eating. change everything to wheat flour, not white flour.. and every now and then switch back to liquid Protein. Are you exercising as much. Now that the summer is here , you may want to get into swimming and Water aerobics. I think ( and this is just me) that our bodies have gotten used to the weight and get to a slow point. we have to do everything to keep our metabolism tricked. so for each bad carb , we may need to counteract and do a few extra reps at the gym. Do not beat yourself up, it defeats the purpose! just know that we have to work a little harder to reach our goals. I have switched to everything sugar free. the other night i at three regular chocolate chip Cookies and thought i was going to die! i cannot believe that i - the original cookie monster - have turned away from the sweet treats.. it does not bother me to go to dunkin donuts and just get a fat free muffin and eat half.

keep me posted and good luck.... Mona

  15. I feel great.. no more gas or bloating.. I am watching every calorie that i put in my mouth and trying to make wise food choices.. It is not so bad.. but i think i need more restriction. first fill is not until June 19th..

i have been walking a lot and hope to hit the gym next week for some serious exercise..

  16. I never had any real problems being heavy.. i was lucky that my weight was somewhat distributed evenly and many never even believed that i was 270 lbs.. my problem is that my sister is treating me differently now that i have had surgery. She had GP approximately 3 years ago and went from a size 26 to a 14.. She loves the attention and hates the fact that i am now starting to lose weight and have been getting compliments as well.

She says things like , you will not lose as much weight as me and even discouraged me from getting the band.. she also talks about food constantly now, in an attempt to see if I will break down!! - that is my sad story.. but I feel good about myself.
