    February 2019 weight loss buds

I don't have a marco breakdown, but here's what I consumed yesterday. I am embarrassed about how much of my diet is coffee, but hey. Blue top milk coffee, barista style 1/2 Bullet coffee (butter + coconut oil added) 1/4 of a bill-tong bier-stick (regurgitated, only about 10g but my stomach sucks sometimes) A cheese stick An optifast shake A coffee with a little cream added Greek yogurt pot -- coffee and cacao nib A coffee with a splodge lacto-free milk (because that's all we had on hand) A couple bits of roast lamb... probably about 20g, and I felt sick afterwards. 500ml water *** I tend to stick to liquids on days when I feel super restricted, like yesterday. I KNOW I shouldn't be drinking so much coffee... but because sugary drinks (even low sugar drinks) are more or less out, coffee is, like, liquid heaven. It's also the middle of winter here - sun's down around 6 pm, it's cold, I've lost almost 100 pounds so I'm cold all. the. time. Aaaaaaannnd that's my list of excuses for how poor my diet is. Lol.

Totally wish I had a "normal" weight to work off. I blame puberty! Haha 😂 *sigh* this is probably one of those 'don't have expectations of your body, just let it do its thing, it will tell you when it's where it wants to be' things, isn't it? I'm such a control freak, though! I NEeEeEeEeEd to know what's going to happen so I can prepare myself! Lol.

Yes, sugar seems to be the thing that just plain makes me sick if I eat too much of it! Fat doesn't seem to be too much of a problem for me, and I guess I'm kind of scared of losing much more... thus maybe why I'm mucking around with higher fat? Perhaps it's a stalling tactic? *shrugs*

Thanks Sheri! Gosh, don't you look lovely 🙂 I guess I've always, always struggled with my weight so I find it difficult to set a 'goal'. Here's kind of where I'd like to get to (I used to play the electric violin in a reggae band). I have no idea what weight I would have been here, though! I'm guessing somewhere between 150-170???

Also: I've convinced hubby to try out Keto with me! Anyone want to join? I mean, we're pretty much all following some kind of LCHF/LCHP diet anyway 😂 TBH I'm kind of scared about consuming more fat, but I'm MORE scared about how quickly carbs started to creep back into my diet... so I'm going to try to eliminate them entirely. Sounds like a 'carnivore' diet can be reasonably good for head problems/depression, and I have eczema/skin issues too, that might benefit from the extra fat (I'm having particular problems around my sugar glider wings and side boobs... thanks, loose skin!)

Question: How did you set your goal weight? I was mathematical about it... initial info said with RNY 'expect to lose around 75% of your EXCESS weight'. I calculated that from my top weight (138kgs) which co-incidentally worked out to be 84kgs; which is where I was when I started uni, and what I managed to lose down to when I started gymming pretty hard in my second year (I'm turning 30 in October... it's been many years since I've seen anywhere close to the weight I am now!) Just asking 'cause it looks like I'll have to set a 'stretch goal'. I never really considered what it might be like to *actually* be small or within my HWR. And to be honest, the idea scares me a little (especially with the loose skin I have now... I can't imagine what it will be like if I lose another 20 or so kgs!) So, what's your goal weight based on, peeps? How did you go about setting it? ❤️

I'm three pounds off a 100 pound weight loss. Eight until I'm under 200! Four months from surgery day tomorrow. Legitimately thought I'd be around here at the six month mark, if I was hella lucky. Feeling super-grateful for getting the opportunity to have WLS right now... even if I do have one heck of a bill to pay 😬

Sounds like you're doing amazing, Gotta! So pleased for you! ❤️ Does anyone want to join me on some kind of 5K training program? I need some accountability as I'm falling behind on my exercise...

It's my exact 3-month surgiversary today! And I almost missed celebrating it due to annoying life dramas I got going on at the moment. Wishing a happy surgiversary to our triplets (quadruplets??) Marine, Gotta, and... oh, dear. Who else was on the 14th?? My bad! I'm hoping to break out some before and after pics and potentially some measurements, too. (Probably tomorrow, though... I need hubby to take some pictures!) I'd love to celebrate some more 3-month surgiversary stats and NSVs with everyone! How're you all going?

    February 2019 weight loss buds

Hey Mishu! I haven't seen you here before - welcome! Man, I really wish I had all the answers you're looking for, but really I'm just muddling through -- getting some stuff right and other stuff wrong -- just like everyone else. I've had some issues with hunger and I've 'grazed' and eaten when I shouldn't. I'm by no means perfect, so every now and then I sit down and look through what I should be eating and make a plan to try to get back on track. (That being said, yesterday I had honey-roasted nuts for lunch! Not the greatest choice. Doh!) Do you have the support of a nutritionist? And/or a psychologist? Might be good to seek some advice and support from people with the right skills/knowledge. This is our shot to turn things around, it's up to us to make the most of it. Wishing you success! ❤️

Yep, I seem to have a similar pattern! Plus I've had a couple of wee stalls in there, too. Biggest was around 2-3 weeks... but after that stall, I lost super-quick for a little while. It's all swings and roundabouts! I know we really all know this already, but the most measurable things to control are our habits and behaviours, not our scales! Work on the habits and the thinking and the scales will catch up eventually 🙂

I have no idea if my problems are behavioural or physical. It'll be interesting to find out when I get this hospital appointment. Still no word on that yet. Sorry about your phobia! I'll try to reduce my regurgitation talk, haha. Really happy that you had a lovely experience eating out, gotta! [emoji5] Something to aspire to, for sure!! This is lunch today. Homemade egg drop soup! A cup of stock (vege, cause I'm trying to go back to vegetarianism) a little soy sauce, black pepper, pinch of turmeric, a little coconut oil, a pinch of nutritional yeast. Wait for it to boil then drop a couple of beaten eggs in slowly while stirring vigorously. Warm, tasty, cures my ramen cravings and easy on the pouch! Yay, something I actually enjoy eating for once! Lol. Sent from my CPH1719 using BariatricPal mobile app

Howwwwwwww are you able to eat pizza? *cries sad, pizza-loving tears* I tried pizza and threw it all up (several times). Anything carb-y -- breads, crackers, etc. I'm likely to throw up. Carbs were my everything pre-surgery and now I can't look at them without feeling nauseous. Happy Mother's Day to our resident Mamas! Hope you spend some lovely time with family ❤️

    February 2019 weight loss buds

Hehe, Anna! This journey's bloody frustrating sometimes!! Do keep in mind that I started out almost twice your size, I was that crazy-person who went on Optifast about 3 weeks early, and I've been throwing up most of what I eat (even if I ate as little as you did, I wouldn't be able to keep it all down). In all likelihood you'll always be smaller than me. And if I could take a magic pill that would get me to where you are now? By hokey It'd be gone before I could swallow!! #mygoalweightisyourstartweight [emoji13] Sent from my CPH1719 using BariatricPal mobile app

    February 2019 weight loss buds

A massive milestone for me today... finally I'm double-(metric)-digits! 99.9! 38 kilos lost, 84 pounds. Almost three months down and my surgeon says I'll reach my goal of 84kgs no problem. I have to admit, it's a little scary! But it's awesome. I never thought I'd be this light again... I never thought I'd be lighter than my husband (I am now!). If you'd talked to me in November last year, I would have told you that I'd given up hope on ever being able to get pregnant. What a crazycakes journey we're all on!

Froufrou, I vomit clear mucus. Until I gave up on food (more or less), I would vomit after food, all the food in my pouch plus around 1/3 to 1/2 cup clear mucus. As an example, on Saturday I picked the cheese and crust off of a bread roll. Spent the next 10mins on my hands and knees on the floor vomiting that mixed with mucus. Maybe you have a potential stricture? Seems strange that you'd vomit mucus without food, though... Obviously the food is going somewhere! Sending you a big hug! Oh, yeah... I'm losing hair. It's hard to quantify, but, like, a good ping-pong sized hairball every time I have a shower and more in between times. Had my hair cut shorter and I dyed it black. Pic attached. Still looks like I have plenty when I puff it up with sea salt spray, but believe me, it's thinning! I'm feeling okay. I don't get anywhere near my protein goals - I'm lucky to get 30-45g per day. Lots of what I eat I vomit, so I'm mainly existing on coffee and the odd protein shake and maybe one 'meal' (sometimes a handful of peanuts, sometimes half a heaped cup of food). I see my surgeon today, so goodness knows what he'll say about that. I try to get 7k steps in on a normal day. I have a new position on the executive of Romance Writers of NZ, and I'm practicing being more assertive and less introverted. It's a challenge! Sounds like you're doing well, gotta! Just have to take this thing one day at a time. We'll get there! [emoji4] Sent from my CPH1719 using BariatricPal mobile app

I've been MIA (and I'm still trying to catch up on the forums), but since December (when I started the WLS process) I've lost 81 pounds 🙂 Half of that is probably hair **sobs into my hairbrush** but I'm closing in on 100kgs and that's pretty awesome. Great to see everyone still chugging along and supporting each other! ❤️
