  1. I know several women who had bypass that did exactly that. They were denied because they weren't big enough and didn't have the comorbidities. So they gained weight to qualify. I don't know that it was a good idea, but they did it and were happy about it.
  2. I've been on a plateau for about 3 weeks. I've tried everything but upping my calories. That sounds crazy doen't it. Congrats on your success.
  3. How wonderful. You have to be so excited and happy. And I know everyone here is happy for you.
  4. Nothing so far. I haven't gotten a PM or anything from my Secret Sam, so maybe it is in the mail.
  5. It was 5 to 7 days for me.
  6. You have a wonderful 4th as well and best of luck to you.
  7. I've never watched the show, but I think Star was a much prettier woman when she was heavy. She looks spooky now.
  8. My insurance and the hospital just stated "stomach surgery" on all the paperwork. The weight loss is so much slower than bypass that you can just let everyone think you have gotten this great will power and are working really hard to change your life.
  9. Mrycrltn, I had your name. There was supposed to be a gift card included. Happy 4th and have a great summer.
  10. Fig Tree - pretty close.
  11. I had absolutely no problems transitioning to solids. You just have to be careful and chew your food. Take small bites and take your time.
  12. I had my pre-op testing done a month before the surgery and I didn't need anybodies clearance. My primary never had anything to do with my getting banded.
  13. I have a 10cc band. First fill was 2cc, then second was another 1cc. Waiting for my 3rd in July.
  14. My doctor tests for smoking and will cancel surgery. I had to quit 2 months before surgery. Unfortunately, I'm right back at it again.
  15. Congratulations, that is wonderful. Best of luck to you, hope it's soon.
  16. My surgeon has done my fills. I know he has a nurse practitioner who is certified to do them as well.
  17. I had mine done in the US. The biggest thing, if you choose to go to Mexico, is making sure you can find a fill doctor and follow up here in the states. It can be a problem if you would have to go all the way back to Mexico for follow ups and fills. I have heard both good and bad about the Mexico doctors. So I couldn't really say which is best.
  18. Mine is on it's way to the great state of Texas. Yeeha!!!

I used to take melatonin but read an article once that said it isn't good to mess around with. So I quit it. I've been having terrible insomnia and the doctor gave me a prescription for ambien, but it doesn't seem to help. My boss was telling me that you can get cammomile (sp) in a tablet and that I should try that. I have started a routine of taking a warm shower with lavender an hour before bedtime, reading for awhile and then trying to sleep. Sometimes it works sometimes not. I will go to bed at 10 and still be awake at 4. I have to get up at 6 for work. Wish I could find something that really worked.
  20. Funny, but I had surgery in March and by the end of April, I had to get new glasses. My prescription changed quite a bit. But I did have some complications after surgery including high blood pressure which I'm still taking meds for. The doc says I should be able to be weaned off of them after a while.
  21. You act as though you're the only one. I think most of us have our weeker moments, but that's why we got banded. Without this tool, those moments would be able to take over a lot more. Forget it and move on. I think that every now and then we deserve a treat as long as we don't go overboard and sabotage our journey. I think we can all relate.
  22. My dog is a rescue also. She is the sweetest thing. I think they need love so badly that when they finally get it they are just so grateful they'll do anything. Congrats on your new baby. A beautiful dog.
  23. My doctor also said no ibuprofen! Tylenol only for pain. Although I have a list of drugs that are acceptable. For severe pain problems, things like Vicodin, and such are OK. But for everyday pain, only Tylenol.
  24. My surgeon required OptiFast for 2 weeks. That was the worst part of the whole process. It was to shrink the liver. Unfortunately when he went in my liver was not shrunk. But everything went OK.
  25. Wow, what a feeling that must be. Can't wait to join you. Congratulations!
