WOOOHOOOOO. I love to hear this not because i recommended them because its going to help you in the long run! Theyre great for a Meal Replacement and so good. Also, idk if this is a mental thing for me, but i find the COLDER they are the more filling, So sometimes ill put one in the freezer for 30 mins before i know im going to have it lol. Then its really like a shake. But im glad you like them. They have banana (which i think taste like egg nog, which i love) and vanilla (taste like melted vanilla ice cream). i usually get all 4 at a time and then drink two a day. People say isnt that expensive?! Well lets see. i use to spend $15 on Breakfast and $20 on lunch. Now im spending $2.75 and $2.75.....lol....have a great day. Sorry just drank my morning coffee and i got happy fingers.

They taste better nice and cold! I’m going to try putting them in the freezer. I tend not to eat much on the weekend even when I’m hungry (I sorta forget) but these will be great on those days. Such an easy way to get Protein in! And definitely worth the money!

  2. @JAKE H so I ended up buying the fairlife Protein Shakes and they are delicious! Thank you so much for the recommendation! They don’t taste like any of the ones I’ve tried before. So far I’ve had a sip from each just to try but I plan on having a whole one tomorrow and I’ll see if I get a reaction from them since other Protein shakes make me throw up.

    Thanks again!!!

    ..also homemade Chicharron FAIL :(

It started out ok, until someone (um, me) totally forgot about it and ended up rendering ALL the fat out (oopsies) resulting in a yield of a measly 1/2 cup (barely) of reeeaaaaallly crispy pork meat. Mr & the Kid crumbled it up and sprinkled it on their salads, which I guess is a win since they normally don't eat salad.

Dinner: Seafood Shiratake Soup (1/3 package of shiratake noodles + 2 shitake mushrooms + 3 shrimp balls + 1 oz imitation crab meat + 1/3 cup Chinese broccoli + 1.5 cup bonito broth + green onions)

(will likely eat the rest for a snack later tonite, will toss if don't...)

Soup looks amazing! I love Chinese broccoli. I could eat it everyday all day and without anything else.

It hasn’t been hard at all. I’m vegetarian - have been for 49 years, so the switch is not that hard and I do add a bit of dairy here and there. It actually forces me to be a better vegetarian because I’m cooking from scratch and a lot of the recipes I use are well balanced.

I was finding I was getting really bored of the food that I had in my freezer, so I was reaching for quick easy things like carry Snacks because I just didn’t fancy what was on offer.

49 yearsss?! wow thats a long time. Good for you! I know some people just enjoy it more. I usually make everything from scratch anyways but I feel like being a vegetarian helps keep the cals down. Something to potentially look into again...

    Ok try this!!

    2oz nf plain grk yogurt

    6oz ff fairlife milk

    1oz baby spinach

    1oz frozen blueberries

    liquid vanilla stevia to taste

    ice

    blend til smooth.

you can also add 1oz avocado or frozen nana. But if u add nana, add more spinach! 😋

see if that either wakes ur appetite or if you can tolerate this! If you can tolerate it, then u can also add a pasteurized whole egg for more and better protein!!

Oooo this sounds good! I’ll give it a try! Thanks! 👍🏼

Can you maybe try switching up what you eat completely? Is it boredom? How about trying Vegan for a bit. I lost my appetite for a lot of foods (except bad things, of course) so I decided to get some books by the Bosh! guys and cook mostly vegan - at least from scratch and then add an egg or cheese here and there.

I don't think its bored but maybe I could use a change. Ironically last night I was watching YouTube videos about the vegan diet. A couple years ago I was a vegetarian but it only lasted a year before I caved.

How long have you been vegan? Has it been tough after wls?

The answer lies in dilution, pure and simple. Also in changing your mindset. Self-fulfilling prophecy is a real thing. CHANGE your tape. CHANGE your game. Dilute the **** outta it and either make it super ice cold or super warm-ish...you can DO this!

Hell, make a Protein 1 minute cake if you have to. Eat it as a Protein pudding mixed with sf instant pudding and some Peanut Butter or almond butter. Hide it in a piece of cheese...get creative. LOL.

I tried diluting the waters too but it doesn't help..... well it helps the taste but it still makes me sick. There must be something in these Protein Drinks that my body is rejecting. I havent tried diluting the milks or baking the protein so Im still willing to give that a shot IF I continue to go on an eating strike.

I have no problem consuming something I don't like if its beneficial to me. Heck, Ill force whatever it is down if my health is at risk but theres no point forcing something down when my body continues to reject it.

But like you, Im a full believer in changing ones mindset! Thanks for the reminder :)

I agree to embrace any hunger free time frames you have. It is unlikely to last long term. So you can minimize your cals at this time and ramp up your weight loss.

I don't think there are any short term issues with missing your Protein goals, but longer term it very well might be.

I second the suggestion of Protein H2O, it doesn't have that weird protein flavor to it.

I became whey intolerant for a while post op, so I had to try out a lot of different Protein Shakes and powders. My favorite was Medifast Dutch chocolate shake blended with Fairlife and ice. If you use 1.5 cups of milk, the shake comes out to 33 g of protein, so a nice boost for the day. It's ridiculously overpriced and the autoship program is scammy, but at least I didn't dread drinking it!

I’ve tried protein Water as well and it’s worse. Tastes like medicine to me. I’ll try mixing a milk one with coffee and see if that does it but I think no matter how I cover up the taste I will still throw it up because they just all make me feel so sick.

What kind of Protein Shakes have you tried? i struggled to eat at first as well, and i would have never hit Protein goals without my shakes. i drink the fairlife power core shakes, i highly recommend them and they taste amazing to me. I have one for Breakfast and lunch till this day. Good luck!

I’ve tried Atkins, Premiere Protein, Breakfast Essentials, GENEPRO, Muscle Milk, Orgain, Owyn, Proti, and a few other whey powders. I can’t tolerate any of them. I went through this whole process without drinking Protein Shakes. Pre op I chugged them because I wasn’t crazy about the taste but I didn’t think they were that bad. Post op I couldn’t even drink them, I threw up and gaged just looking at them. Idk what happened.

I drink plain fairlife milk but never tried the power shakes. I’m willing to give it a shot. Is it super sweet? I tried the chocolate milk (not protein shake) and it was too sweet for my taste.

So I think this is normal...but it might not be normal for you? I would check with my doc and RD, but it kinda sounds like you are deep in ketosis and that's what happens when you are in ketosis. It's ok to have food apathy.

It's actually a good thing. And you will recognize it as such once you have moved beyond that stage and hunger returns.

Thanks! Never knew that was a side effect of being in ketosis. I’m getting around 15-20 g of carbs a day so that could be it.

Typical as can be... I lost my appetite the day i had surgery and to this day have to force myself to eat, I look at it this way - Better to set a timer to eat then be hungry all the time. I would let the doc know but mine said sometimes when the nerves and Hungry wires are removed it just does not come back for a long time.

look at it as a advantage No hungry No food Faster weight loss

I don’t mind not eating much it’s just the forcing myself thing that bothers me and the fact that I’m not getting much Protein in. I think it would be easier to just no eat lol

    @FluffyChix @AJ Tylo
I’m glad to know it’s normal though. The problem is that I’m experiencing slower weight loss because I’m not eating. My body is thinking I’m starving it... and I guess I am.

  12. Hi everyone!

So I'm not sure whats going on but for the past few weeks I haven't been hungry. Some would say that's great because its preventing me from over eating but the reality is I've been under eating. I've lost my appetite completely and I've been getting in 200-350 calories a day. I'm not sure what to do at this point. I'll have a few bites of my food then I'm done for the day and I don't want anything else. Yesterday and Sunday I had to force myself to eat something even though I really didn't want to and if I didn't force myself, I would have ended the day with 224 calories and 15 g of Protein. I've been trying to eat foods higher in calories so that my macros are higher but so far that's my only solution. I cant do the Protein Shakes because I throw up every time I have one.

I don't know what happened. Before this, I was eating without a problem. Every meal is forcing myself to eat and its really driving me nuts. On the weekends its worse because I'm always so busy I forget to eat. Because I'm not eating how I should my weight loss is slowing down.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a phase? I just hit 6 months so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it?

  13. Hi everyone! Id love to hear how everyone is doing and holding up, whether it be with weight loss or just anything really. Has anyone experienced any kind of struggles with losing weight?

    Here are my stats:

As of today I am 6 months 5 days post op and weight 270 lbs. Pre op I weighed 375. It feels so good to be down 105 lbs in a little over 6 months. I heard the weight loss slows down once you hit 6 months so I'm hoping I can at least get to 200 lbs by the end of 2020. Fingers crossed!

Hey ladies, I hope you're all doing well! I'm sitting at 290 almost 13 months out. I haven't been under 300 lbs in so long and my lowest recorded weight of 289 was in 2009/2010. I've been in a stall for a little while but hopefully it's broken for the moment.

Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

Hi @Nic C! Congrats on making it under 300! I hope you're doing much better. Its crazy your lowest recorded weight was a decade ago. I love reading accomplishments like this :) Are you still stalling or have you been able to lose consistently. I just hit a small stall.
