  1. My first post-op was at 6 weeks. I had lost 36 pounds since my before-surgery weight. The other patient who had her surgery two hours before mine had lost the same amount. You should be just eating liquid foods. Breads and such don't start until four months. Foods with skins, seeds, and so forth. You should still be on sugar-free food as well. I was eating around 500 calories a day those first few months. I lost 20 more lbs after 12 weeks then 10 more at 6 months. Carbs and sugars have made me slow down. Your surgery wasn't even two weeks ago. It's probably too early to think pounds yet. I didn't see my doctor until 6 weeks. I was bedridden those months I lost 36 lbs, too.

  2. I cut my hair. That has helped. Don't wash it often. That helps. I use supplements for hair. That includes copper for graying hair because the top of my head has whitened. I'm getting some drops soon that I can put on my head after washing and leave in. The reviews say I will have thick hair in a few months. I plan in having my dr check my blood for nutrition levels.

  3. I agree with the others that you should start at the beginning again. I go onto liquids when I feel I've been eating too much. Protein Drinks and broth. I've learned that if I eat bread or Pasta, which I technically am not supposed to eat for another week yet (4 months post op), and other empty calories and higher-calorie foods, I will drop less weight. Have you been sticking to your quarter cups, increasing 1/4 cup every 3 months? STOP at 1 cup per meal and NEVER go beyond that for the rest of your life! Also, drink 30 minutes before eating, then you can drink again 30 minutes after your last bite. Chew a lot and eat slowly. Space your meals 2 hrs or more apart rather than just eat again when there's the least bit of room in your stomach, eating kind of constantly all day. Schedule and space out your drinking and your meals, eating Protein first. Write down your schedule in a food diary. MyFitnessPal is an excellent app for keeping tabs. You should be at around 1/2 cup-to-3/4 cup of food at this point. Don't reach 1 cup until one year; you still have six months until you'll be at 1 cup!

  4. I lost 36 lbs my first 6 weeks after surgery then 20 lbs my second 6 weeks. We're supposed to have no bread until after 4 months, or Pasta or rice. I do sometimes as of late, though (no rice yet). My stomach pays for it by feeling achy in the low abdomen and feeling full even through the night and into the next day. I have to take laxatives. So don't follow me but DO follow the written guide from your surgeon. 1 cup at 1 year and the rest of your life. Increase 1/4 cup every 3 months till 1 year. I do throw up when I overfill my stomach. I feel much better. Always after Taco Bell.

  5. With liquid diet, then soft foods diet, etc., how did you not lose wt? We're not even allowed bread or Beans or fruit with skins or rice until afterc4 mos. The average is to lose 30 lbs in the first 6 wks. Having sugar and eating everytime there's room in your banana stomach will stop wt loss. You need to wat 2-3 hrs between meals. Log your 1/4 cup meals with MyFitnessPal app.

  6. Hi everyone, I’m glad I found this forum! I’m never quite sure about posting on the Facebook pages because many people don’t know that I’ve had surgery.
I’m 3 weeks post op tomorrow, and feel better overall than I expected. I sometimes forget that Imcant take these big bites of food, and to slow down. I was having a terrible time with diarrhea, but figured out it was the Vitamins, and so I switched. Problem solved but now the scale shows I’m up 6 pounds since Sunday! It could be Water, I’ve been having a hard time getting in all that I should, plus adding soft foods the last few days maybe? I was down 40 since Dec 5th (pre-op) but now it’s 36. Still, a good problem to have
My first follow up with the Nutritionist is Friday morning. I’ll ask her about it, plus about some food ideas. I’m still working on getting used to all of this, so I keep reminding myself to be patient. (Not my virtue, but I’m working on it.)
I live in the Seattle area, and I have a big family.
Just thought I’d introduce myself. Hope to be checking in and participating regularly! Oh! My name is Stacia.
I read somewhere to take child Flintstone chewables after the surgery.
