    December Bypass Twin?

Agree about the protein shakes. Week 4 of all liquids for me, mostly protein shakes for convenience, but they are really getting tough to take. So tired of no texture. Looking forward to that first piece of fish or a scrambled egg. One more week to go...sigh.

    How long on liquid diet

The post-op surgical instructions vary significantly from surgeon to surgeon and program to program, but in my case the liquid diet was 2 weeks pre-op and 3 weeks post-op. The cream of wheat option is that it is mixed with skim milk (or unsweetened almond milk) to a loose, 'pourable' consistency. I add 30 grams of unflavored Genepro powder and it works fine. No problems with taste or digestion so far.
  3. 53 here and had my RNY on December 14th. Feeling fine (except for 2 more weeks of drinking my meals).

    December Bypass Twin?

Hello everyone. RNY on December 14th. One day in the hospital. Only complication in surgery was a very low heart rate which apparently gave everyone pause. Not doing too bad otherwise, although that first sip of water in the morning is still painful. Incision sites are healing well. Shakes and protein powder are working so far (3 weeks down, 2 more to go), but I can see how this would get old. Now the long road back to work. My job has extensive medical requirements which results in a minimum waiting period of 60 days post-op before they will even review my case for consideration. Looks like I'm out of work for a minimum of 3, maybe 4 months total. Kind of a bummer ($$$) but I knew that going in. So glad I found this forum!
