Band aid in frozen dinner?? What to do????

Oh my god, that is disgusting. That reminds me of a story my friend told me when he found a bloody bandaid in his omelet at Waffle House. Definitely call and complain....and make sure you let them know that you are on this forum and you are in contact with A LOT of people who previously consumed their products, and tell them that you are spreading the word about what happened. That will probably scare the s**t out of them and I'm sure they will give you something for your disgusting and unpleaseant experience. Let us know how it turns out.

Has anyone found their grocery bill.....

So it seems that if you are single, then you end up saving money because you arent spending the money on eating out and extra junk food. And, if you have a family then you are spending more money because you have to buy all the healthy food for people with "normal" stomachs too. I'm just glad I fit into the "single" category! Hehe....well, hopefully I wont for long!
  3. I understand what you are saying Colton. I just hope that all of the veterans on this site remember what it was like when they were taking this journey on. There are things that we dont know or understand yet, and those things might seem silly for you. For instance, all of the information that I read says that I should be drinking protein shakes and taking vitamins to make sure that I get the correct nutrition. But, the person who posted this thread says that it drives them batty when people are worried about protein intake and drinking protein shakes. I dont understand why they think that is abnormal when this is what I've been told time and time again??????????

Why are people afraid of atheism?

I'm quite inclined to think that there is something that physiologically causes me to be a non-believer. Its just not in me. I think there must be some substance to that argument.

    who supports right to choose

Ok, so I just stumbled across this thread and I thought I would just share my two cents. I apologize if this has already been said (I didnt read all of the 126 pages of posts....sorry). Abortions will happen anyways. Whether they are legal or not, they will happen. The only difference is that if they are legal, they will be safe. If they are not legal, then (pardon my frankness) women will use a coat hanger or throw themselves down the stairs or douche with bleach....and if these happen you will likely have a dead woman + a dead fetus. If they dont succeed in the abortion or suicide, then the baby will just be discarded after birth. Nobody LIKES the idea of abortion. Nobody has an abortion for fun. Its a difficult decision for a woman to make, but its important that women have options. And trust me, a safe abortion is a much better option than the others.
  6. Hmmm....The reason I am here is to learn, ask questions, meet people in the same situation....am I wrong? I just think that people are always needing to feel superior to others. It seems there is a heirarchy even in this forum of people feeling superior to those who are "newbies". Get over yourself.

    Twenties Chat

Hey all! I am Abby and I am 23...will be 24 in August. I am getting banded on May 24th. I am not married, but hope to be soon. I also want to have babies one day so I am hoping that this band helps with that. I am so glad that I found this forum. It is such a great resource for information for anything from sex to clothes, recipes to anecdotes.

    Watch your Sodium Levels

Wow, I didnt realize that sodium was such a problem. I am not a food salter either, so its something that I never really think about. I will definitely add that to the list of things I check nutritional labels for!

    Need SEX ideas!!!

As soon as I am around 150lbs I am getting one of those swings. Just like Kathy, I'm afraid that I would cause serious structural damage to my house if I got one now...haha! I like the idea of getting "The Joy of Sex". There is also a book called "Kama Sutra" that has lots of great ideas. Find a book that is artistic and sexy (rather than cheap and sleazy). Then look it over with your husband. You can look at the pics and get some ideas of things that you might like to try together. Tell him what positions look like they would be fun for you and suggest that you try it. Looking at all the sexy pics will get you and him in the mood, and my guess is you will be having sex right then and there!:woot:

    Telling the kids

I dont have any children, but I remember being a child. I remember times when my parents didnt tell me what was going on, and being absolutely paralyzed with fear. Because I was never actually TOLD what was happening, I couldnt ASK for reassurance. I think you should tell your children (simply, with diagrams, no gory details) and just reassure them about how you will be fine, and much healthier and happier. Its much better to be honest, because trust me, they already know anyways. Just my two cents.............

    Need SEX ideas!!!

Cook him his favorite dinner. Then when he is eating it crawl under the table and start pleasuring him....ahem....orally. Thats one of my favorites. Seriously though, men just love it when you tell them what you want, even if you are too shy to act on it. So things like "touch me on my (name of body part)" or "I love it when you do that" or "Harder/faster/softer/etc". They will just love when you tell them what you want and how you want it. Once you master that, you can start getting naughtier and dirtier....hehe. Good luck! I cant wait to have sex when I am skinny....so much fun stuff to do!

    Fat Clothes

Seriously, I cant wait until I can go and buy bras at Victoria's Secret! I am thinking red and lacy....its been so long since I've been able to wear a bra that has any less than four hooks in the back!

My Friends/family need me to be overweight

This whole journey is so difficult, and even more so when you have a family that is not supportive. Mine is not supportive at all. I wasn't planning on telling anyone but my mother. And the only reason I was going to to tell her was because I felt that I had too. I am going to Mexico for the surgery, and I felt that I needed to tell her where I was because she would know that I was gone for the 4 days. She was so against it, she decided to tell my entire family about it and convinced them to call me and encourage me not to do the surgery. I've had an influx of phone calls and emails from my siblings and my father as well. They are all against it. I am just so angry at my mom for telling everyone. She says she did it because shes just so concerned for me. Just dont know what to do.......

    Cautiously optimistic

I will be flying from San Diego to Washington DC, then DC to Ohio. Its an eight hour journey in total (including a layover)

    Is surgery in Mexico safe?

Such an annoying reply... I have heard excellent things about Mexican surgeons, and all patients seem to be very happy with their results. I am having surgery on May 24th in Mexico, and have done extensive research. I found that the docs in Mexico have done MANY more surgeries than the surgeons I researched in Ohio. Also, my surgeon has lower rates of complications, and higher patient reviews than US docs. Just be prepared to educate all of your family and friends on this topic if you do indeed choose to have surgery in Mexico. People are afraid of what they are ignorant about, and they will make judgements about you and your choice (ie: the post above). Just do your research and make the best decision for yourself, and then stick with it! This is for you, and as long as you inform yourself and are happy with your decision, then thats all that matters!

    Cautiously optimistic

Congrats on being banded! I am nervous about the journey home. I have a 7 hour plane ride!!! Yikes!!! I should be ok though, will just ask the doc for some gooood pain meds before I go :tt1:
  18. I have the exact same problem. I am going to Mexico to be banded on May 24th, and my family flipped when I told them. They have also suggested that I just go on a diet and exercise...blah blah blah. They are not supportive at all. I have found that it has helped somewhat to tell them about all of the research that I have done (If you havent done any...do some!). I gave them the names of all the doctors I researched in the area and in Mexico, and gave rates of complications, number of surgeries performed, and patient reviews for each doctor. I also gave them the risks of obesity along with the statistics of how many people re-gain the weight they've lost on a diet (plus some). When people come to you with reasons like: "it seems extreme..." or "you shouldn't go to Mexico because you can't even drink the water there..." or "just try dieting" you can go right back at them with all of these statistics. It will make them realize that you have done your research and that you do know what you are doing. Knowledge is power, and often people are scared of what they dont know. Educate them on how the band works, and how it will affect your life. Good luck with your family....mine is starting to come around. Well, not exactly come around, but they have stopped trying to convince me not to do it. I suspect when they see the results and how healthy I become after the surgery then they will be much more supportive.

    Ohio fills?

I am scheduled to get my lapband on May 23rd by Dr. Aceves in Mexicali, Mexico. I have a few questions about fills: When will I need to have my first fill? Does anyone know of a Dr. in Ohio who will do fills for bands that were placed in Mexico? :cool2:

    Disapproving family...help!

I researched 4 different doctors in my area (attended seminars, spoke with office staff, requested information, etc) Since I was asked where I got my figure of $20,000, here goes: Surgeon fee - $6500 Program fee - $1600 Hospital - $16,450 Anaesthesia - $1600 "The usual uncomplicated LapBand requires an initial payment of $26,150 prior to surgery" (This is taken verbatim from the information packet.) There is also a note that states that those fees do not cover the cost of pre-op testing such as X-ray, urine analysis, EKG, bloodwork, etc.

    Disapproving family...help!

Who am I going to sue if things go horribly wrong? No one. I am fully aware of the complications, and I know that its possible that things will not go as planned. These complications are possible whether the surgery is done in the US or Mexico. I would not sue anyone if something goes wrong, because this is a surgery that I have elected to have and I am aware of the complications. That being said, I think that my family is concerned with both the fact that I am HAVING surgery at all, and also the fact that it is being done in mexico. My BMI is about 38 and they dont feel that I am heavy enough to have WLS. However, I have PCOS and I only have about 4 periods a year (of which are induced by Prometrium). I am only 23 and I want to get married and have a family one day. These things can never happen if i dont take some initiative and make some changes in my life. I just wish that they could understand.

    Bands for BMI < 40

Good question....I am in the 38 BMI range and am also curious to know if my results are going to be as dramatic as others I have seen. Good luck with your surgery!

When did you start gaining weight

I was always a thin child. Even through high school, I was thin and VERY attractive. I graduated from high school at 135 lbs. Then college started.... Binge drinking and 3am McDonalds and before I knew it I had gained 100 lbs. Graduated from college weighing 215 lbs, then gained another 35 during the next 2 years as I was struggling in my first job while still doing a lot of binge drinking and eating mac 'n cheese. I often find that high school friends dont even recognize me. I cant wait to be that hottie again!
  24. Aphrodite1984

wondering if others have noticed this?

I wish I hadnt told my mom. She is also thin (135 lbs) and completely disapproving of me having surgery. Shes made it more stressful than it already is.
  25. Wow! I hope that my recovery goes as smoothly as yours has. I am worried because I am doing this all ALONE. I am travelling by myself, going through the surgery alone, returning alone, and recovering alone. I hope that I am strong enough to do it!
