I'm 3 months post op and 35 pounds down!! Last weekend, my daughter and I were wrestling around and she literally stepped on my port and it hurt like CRAZY!!!
The past couple days, I have had an EXTREMELY tender spot just to the right of my port. It woke me up in the middle of the night a few days ago and now it's annoying all the time. Not painful when I leave it alone but if I touch the specific spot next to the port, it's pretty painful.
Any ideas? My next appt is May 3rd. Should I call and see if I can get in earlier?

I'm only 6 weeks post op but i'm averaging 1300 calories a day and losing over 4 pounds per week.
I track my food on thedailyplate.com On there you can put in your height, weight and activity level and then choose how much you want to lose per week. I put 3.5 and it says I can consume 1436 calories per day. 1400 is alittle hard for me to reach but 1300 has been pretty do-able.
Hope that helps!!

What you're feeling is probably scar tissue, not your port. I just got my first fill and my port is actually just to the right and a smidge higher than my "port incision"
Hope that helps! Good LUCK!!!

During pureed I pretty much ate when I was hungry. If my stomach was making noise, I at something with Protein...usually yogurt. I'm not a big fan of shakes and they really give me the poops!
My pureed days went like this...
6am (that's when I get up for work!) Yogurt to take meds since they have to be crushed
8am - scrambled egg
10 am - oatmeal or a SF Jello snack
12 pm- Soup cream of something
3pm - yogurt
6pm - dinner...puree dinner with the food processor. Whatever I made for the family - I put it in the food processor.
8 pm - if I need a snack, SF pudding or a glass of milk would be a decent snack too. If I was low on Protein for the day, I'd do a shake or carnation instant Breakfast.
During the pureed stage, it got pretty boring! Alot of repeat foods.
I hope that helps! Good luck! I promise - it gets better!!

That's awesome! I'll be making a run to Target to try that!!
Thank you for the info!!

All the Protein Shakes make me poop! I haven't found one that sits good in my belly but I'm more worried about Constipation then loose stool! I make sure my I get in all my Water if I'm going to drink a shake. Don't want to dehydrate!

Today is food day at work. We're celebrating a birthday which on any other pre-band day would mean tons and tons of eating all day long! And you know the kinds of crappy food people bring...chips, cakes, donuts, dips...
I got my first fill yesterday. 3cc's in and I'm feeling pretty tight. I am SO thankful that I got a fill yesterday because I know without it, I would have at least had a couple bites of the high cal foods that are hanging around.

EXCELLENT Question...I can't wait to see the responses!
Right now, I'm lucky to get in 60 grams of Protein...Eggs have been my best friend and #1 source of protein!

I'm 5 weeks post-op and I've lost 25 pounds....My goal is 50 pounds by June 3rd. I'm on my way!!
Good luck to both of us! :smile2:

I didn't do anything solid...I ate the broth from the chicken soup..no noodles!! I added the milk just for some Protein since I didn't eat Breakfast.
I was told 24 hours of liquids that I could do regular dinner tomorrow night. Depending how lunch sits, I may just stick to liquids until Saturday.
The same thing happened when I tried a Protein shake later in the afternoon. This evening seems a bit better...chicken broth and Water seem to be going down fine. Popsicle was good too!

I got my first fill today. SO SO SO excited!! I have 3cc's in my band now!
After my fill, we went out for lunch. I had some chicken Soup minus the noodles and a glass of milk for some Protein. After 2 or 3 spoonfuls of Soup and 3 gulps of milk, I felt incrediblely sick!
It's now 3 hours later and I'm trying to sip a Protein shake and the same thing is happening? After a couple drinks, I feel incredibly neasous!
Is this normal? Will I feel better tomorrow?

Morphine makes me really itchy too!! If you were allergic to the band, I think it'd be a lot worse after a week.
Could it be season allergies? Spring is almost here!

Hello! I didn't use these surgeons but I'm in the area too! We'll I'm up in the north burbs

I went thru a big work up for heart palpitations and it turned out to be anxiety. I was told as long as the flutters are only lasting a minute or two, it's fine. When it's lasting for more than 10 minutes, you need to get it looked at.
Pre-op is crazy on your psyche! You're excited and nervous and filled with anticipation! GOOD LUCK!!!

I'm a smoker...Surgeon told me to quit too but just the normal reason and that it's bad for healing.
He knew I was a smoker before and knows I'm still a smoker after. Just don't lie to your doctors about it. For your doctor to help you, the need to knoe the truth.
I'll quit someday. I quit when I was pregnant and nursing but picked it right back up. I quit at the beginning of 2009, picked it up 3 weeks later. It's just so hard. Now, with excersise, I seem to smoke less. Instead of going out to have a cig, I jog around the cul de sac. Then I'm breathing so hard, I can't smoke!

Phil, your post cracks me up and is oh so true!
I'm on a bowling league (I know it's very Rosanne). our first game was when I was 4 weeks post op. I asked my surgeon about bowling and he said just to take it easy and pay attention to my body but did mention no beer. And I asked if cranberry and vodka was okay and he said JUST ONE drink would be fine but don't go crazy. I sipped the drink and 2 glasses of Water during our 3 games. I didn't feel deprived and fit right in with my friends.
I think I miss using a straw more than anything. I don't feel deprived with out soda or beer but to have some iced tea without a straw? That's been my biggest miss.

I feel your pain!!! I have the same kind of BS at work. It was bad for awhile around here too but it got easier as I told people to back off
I say things like "I'm not on a "diet"...I just eat A LOT less than you and I need to make better choices."
-
I can overeat later in the day but in the morning and at lunch, I get uncomfortable if I eat too much. I've had one episode of a PBing (productive burping) and I've been stuck once in the morning but it was a shortlived episode, thankfully.
I have no fill so I'm just still dealing with residual swelling.

TOM is visiting me for the first time since surgery and he's much heavier than before...What's with that? I try not to even look at the scale while TOM's hanging around but it's so hard not to!

I think I made an ok choice...
I'm still on pureed foods and usually have Soup for lunch. Today I was stuck in a meeting that ran late and by the time I made it to the cafeteria soup was pretty much gone. So I went with a burger patty, no bun. I ate tiny bites. I dipped in mayo and ketchup and CHEWED like crazy!!
My other options were salad bar, deli sandwhich or a slice of pizza.
Good choice or bad choice for pureed stage?

Too tight or bad bandster?

I'm having problems getting stuck. Here's the story...
I order my 4 pc kids meal with a large iced tea. We pull in to the adjacent Wal-Mart parking lot and I take a bite of my McNugget then a swig of tea, not thru the straw. OUCH. Oh that's not good. I try and bite of nugget because I'm a fat kid and I want more food. Nope...Not moving. More tea...oh that's really bad. The slime starts. SLIME SLIME SLIME SLIME SLIME SLIME. I've wasted all of the napkins. I get out and walk around. It takes me 25-30 minutes to get the food down.
Next day...Two bites and some tea and I'm stuck again. This time the food comes up in a slimy ball of goo.
Am I getting stuck because I'm too tight or because I'm drinking with meals?
