Weigh in... how much have u lost?

Hi all! Everybody sounds like they are doing great! I too have not seen much of a change on the scale the past week, but hopefully that just means that there will be a big drop soon! NY2LAGirl - you are doing great!!! Terri
  2. Hey! How did your doctor's appointment go today? Did you get a fill? How was it??? Are you feeling any different. Can't wait to hear all about it!!

The orange Isopure was my least favorite. I liked the Apple Melon flavor. Try that one! Terri

    Scheduled for May? What Day?

Thanks Allison! Glad to hear everything went well with you. Did you stop itching? I have been told that the itching is from the anesthesia and it should go away! Everybody sounds great! I am 8 days out and actually put on something other than sweat pants!!! Yipee! (It's the small things in life that excite me!) Experimenting with pureed foods - all though it is kind of hard for me to figure out the difference from pureed and mushies!! Keep feeling better everyone! Terri
  8. I went to my doctor today and he told me that I was not supposed to sleep on my side the first week after lap band surgery. My doctor uses mesh to cover the port to help the tissue grow over it and if you sleep on your side both you and your port are slanted and the port might become tilted. If your doctor uses mesh to cover the port site, you are NOT supposed to sleep on your side for the first week. No one mentioned that to me in my doctor's office, so I wanted to pass this on to everyone who will soon be banded. Lot of good that info does for me on day 6 of my first week, but hopefully I can let other people know! :scared2: Terri

    May 22nd!!!!

Please don't worry - remember all doctors are different! Mine uses mesh to cover the port site and he recommends not sleeping on your side for the first week while it is healing. If there is one thing I have learned on this site it is that all of our doctors have different requirements. Terri

    Not Enough Protein :-(

Thanks lunabeane! The nutritionist at the hospital gave me that number. I didn't think it was high until after I got home and looked at people on this site's Protein requirement! I see her again in a few weeks, I will ask her again (she even wrote it down in my paperwork!) Luckily I am on pureed foods this week and I won't get anywhere near 85g of protein in! Thanks for the info about drinking more water! Will do! Terri
  12. Thank you trina! I was just trying to pass on information! I will think twice about doing that next time! :rolleyes2:Terri

Weigh in... how much have u lost?

I thought it was just me who hears the scale calling my name all the time!!! I have been talking to people in the chat rooms and some of them don't weigh themselves except once a month! One girl doesn't have a scale - that's the only way I could stop weighing myself. I think in the beginning we have such high expectations and when you are healing from surgery looking at the numbers going down on the scale seem to make it all worth while!! heyliberrylady - doesn't your scale fit in your purse? LOL!!!! We are all doing great! Terri

    Not Enough Protein :-(

Hi Enigma! I was drinking these great bottled drinks that I got at GNC called Isopure. They are 40g of Protein in 20oz of liquid. Not bad!! They come in flavors like grape, orange, apple melon, and taste like fruity Water. I need to get 85g of protein in a day and found that by drinking 3 of these a day made it pretty easy. I am on pureed foods and am finding it much more difficult to get all my protein in. I will have to start drinking the Isopure in between my meals to help make up the difference. Give it a try - you are doing great! Terri
  15. Hi all - Didn't mean to scare anyone or get anybody "up in arms", just passing on information that my doctor told me during my post op check up. Obviously, by looking at everybody's entries it is apparent that all of our doctors do things differently. But, isn't that what this site is for - the sharing of information? My doctor happens to use mesh to cover the area where the port is attached, if your happens to use mesh, then this might apply. I passed on the info because it is better to be safe than sorry! Sorry - didn't mean to offend or cause any hysteria! Terri
  16. Me too! I only sleep on my side - I was shocked and not just a little annoyed that I wasn't told by my dr! Terri

    May 22nd!!!!

Hi Shannon (my daughter's name is Shannon!) What kind of protein are you drinking? Shakes? I drank Isopure flavored protein which comes in a bottle (bought at GNC) - kind of looks like colored water. Each bottle is 40g of protein, I think it might be less filling than a shake since it's consistency is like water. You might want to try that. Today is my first day of "pureed" foods, I am finding it harder to get in my 85g of protein when I am not drinking it! Anyway, had some split pea soup and cottage cheese. They tasted great!! :scared2: Saw my doctor today and he said everything is healing well. Anyway, hope all is well with all of us 22nd-ers! Instead of bandland does this mean we are at band camp?? You know - one day - at band camp!!! (American Pie - in case you couldn't figure it out!!!) Terri

My banding story! I did it!

Magdaline - I am soooo impressed with your progress!!! Five miles!! Wow - you put me to shame and you have lost a lot already!! Way to go! Isn't this site great?!! I just love it! :scared2: When I asked about adding the ticker to my profile, someone told me about this site, so I am passing it on to you! Good luck! I know you go into "Edit Profile" and you go into the "signature" part to add the ticker. Let me know if this works! post banding stomach problems

Hey Gwen - glad to hear you are doing better! At this time in my recuperation a baked sweet or regular potato sounds heavenly!! Actually, I am doing fine on the liquid diet, only have 1 more day until I can do pureed foods. Yipee My nutritionist also told me about the meat tenderizer and warm Water. I agree, sounds terrible, but it sounds better than food being stuck all day! I also heard that pineapple juice helps with stuck proteins! Sounds better than Adolfs Meat Tenderizer any day! A lot of people in the chat room talk about using on-line food diaries and say they are wonderful! Of course, I can't remember the names of any of them at the moment, but will pass it on to you when I ask them all tonight! Take care! Terri Did I know you are in Los Angeles? I'm in the Valley - near Woodland Hills.

2 Weeks post op liquid diet

Hi Coco - Sounds like you have a great husband!! I am drinking Isopure, but it isn't the powder shake stuff - it is pre-made and comes in bottles (looks like flavored water). Each bottle is 40 g of Protein and the flavors are orange, grape, apple melon and some others that I can't remember. I need to have 85 g of protein a day, so I am drinking 2 a day and filling the rest with broth, etc. I keep it chilled and it really isn't bad! Good luck to you! Terri
