    December 2018 Sleevers!

The sore throats could be from GERD that’s a common symptom of Reflux. I feel conflicted about the Apple cider vinegar it is so acidic not sure that is a good idea. I would cut back on what you are eating and really try hard not to take that last bite that puts you over the edge. I would follow up with your surgeon if you keep experiencing this maybe you have a stricture.

    December 2018 Sleevers!

The incision my stomach was taken out of hasn’t hurt at all, actually none of my incisions have hurt at all. My surgeons protocol is Prilosec daily for the first six months then reassess.

    I’m always full

I hear you I am full all the time too. I set a timer and make my self eat 5 very small meals a day about 1-1 1/2 oz. I can’t get 3-4 oz in at a time. The most protein I have been able to consume is 40 grams. I mix unflavored protein in everything. I am down 32 lbs in 3 weeks. My eyes are bigger than my stomach for sure ....

    Anyone from Texas?

I chose Dr. Stowers with Evolve because of his reputation and the fact that he only does weight loss.

    Anyone from Texas?

I live in the ATX area but I chose to have surgery in Plano with Dr. Scott Stowers. My coordinator was Alex and she was awesome and the staff and process was extremely easy and efficient.

    Anti depressants post op

I was on 60mg Cymbalta for chronic joint and knee pain prior to surgery and my pain management doctor switched me to 3- 20mg capsules and I am able to swallow them no problem. The 60mg capsule is huge. The 20mg are smaller than the Prilosec I have to now take daily.

    December 2018 Sleevers!

Ever since my sleeve I noticed that my taste buds are over sensitive. Example I opened a Premier shake and drank half, put it back in refrigerator, after several hours i went back to drink the remainder and I couldn’t it picked up all the scents and flavors of other items in the refrigerator. I thought it was just the shake but today I noticed I had a partially opened bottle of water and I am experiencing the same issue. I had to throw both out. Anyone else had this happen to them?

    December 2018 Sleevers!

I had my sleeve 12/11 and my surgeon said no alcohol for six months and honestly I can’t imagine even trying alcohol so soon after surgery. I am down 30 lbs and I don’t want to mess up my momentum.

    December 2018 Sleevers!

I am post-op day 5 from VSG and still can’t get anywhere close to 64 oz. It takes me about 50 mins to drink 4 ounces. Not sure how in the world I will be able to advance to full liquids in 2days.

    Let's talk poop.

Has anyone tried drinking prune juice? I have some on hand and was going to try it if needed but forgot to ask my dietician. Thoughts?

How did your family and friends react?

I decided I would only share that I was having surgery with my adult children, sister and my mom and dad. My husband is super supportive and has not pushed me to share with others unless I wanted to. In the past I have lost large amounts of weight and like many have gained it and more back soon after. I don’t want to be judged against my past history. I may never share that I had the sleeve with anyone else. I believe it is a personal decision and whichever way you choose to go share or not share is the right decision.
  13. So sorry to hear you are having so much nausea. I had my sleeve 12/11 and I haven’t had any nausea. The nurse who did my discharge papers actually said out of 10 sleeves that day I was the only one not staying overnight and who had no nausea. I am having a hard time reaching the liquid goal but each day it’s luckily increased. My dietician and surgeon doesn’t allow you to start on vitamins until week 3 and the first post-op week is clear liquids only, 2nd week clear and full and 3rd week puréed. I noticed my stomach is quite distended and I too have gained a few pounds post-op which is crazy since I haven’t eaten more than 500 calories (maybe not even that much) in 3 days. I notice when I get to 3 ounces I start to hear gurgling like a drain clogged and it starts to get uncomfortable so I think that is my limit. I have been walking a lot and I think my gas is almost gone. Hang in there.

    December 2018 Sleevers!

I am on day two post-op is it just me or is it almost impossible to drink 64 oz this soon. Yesterday I drank 17 and today so far I am at 20.

    December 2018 Sleevers!

I had my sleeve yesterday and everything went smoothly. My biggest complaint is the gas, it is no joke.

    December 2018 Sleevers!

Scheduled for gastric sleeve December 11th. Has anyone found a cup or device that dispenses one once of liquid at a time to use after surgery?
