  1. I’m still surprised by this. They scopes me Tuesday 12/4 they said I have a hiatal hernia and need my gallbladder removed. My surgery is set for 12/11 they are fixing the hernia removing my gallbladder and doing the surgery. They briefly touched on this in the nutrition class and said it was common. I’m glad that I’ll be able to have the RNY just puzzled by your surgeon
No sleeve. I had RNY on December 26. [emoji16]

  2. Come to Bypassland and Kangarooville and visit me÷A lot of n8ce people there. Do you know why we are Kangaroos? Because we all now have pouches! And you still won't have had 3/4 of your stomach thrown into the surgical trash. You're all there, just a little rerouting of the piping. And I have had the torture-side of RnY, if I can remain positive , believe in its ultimate rightness, have hope for my own healing, you should fare well. If not, honey you've got ME, I have paid and am still paying my dues. Going home this aftern9on after a weeks hospitalization with a PICC line in my upper left arm and will have TPN every evening until my ulcers heal down, wasn't getting sufficent Protein per mouth. And I am upbeat- know my surgeons are ordering this so my body can do its repairing. Could be out before Christmas and my Birthday( December 26th) not the gift I requested but at least it's custom- tailored for me! And Life is different but still So So Good!
I'm in bypass land! Had it December 26th and losing!

I had mine on the 26th. Feeling ok except that I have pain from gas. I actually started passing it last night. Hows everyone else doing? I got out of the hospital last night around 6pm

The gas was AWFUL! When it finally started passing, it was wonderful and I thought if this is any indication of the rest of my journey, I'm totally game! 🙂

  4. If you look you do have a bunch, tomorrow it's like the surgeons are saying " Nice Christmas break, now let's see how many we can get in before New Years!" You are definitely NOT a voice crying in the Wilderness. Now me, I have not seen a sign of my September 5th Surgery Twins for months and months! Guess they got so healthy they just faded away and became inactive. Me, I'm still in the error and trial stage and besides, so many have helped me I think I should remain to help along the Newbees if I can!
How do I look to see?

  5. Last week I was attending a group session when one of the group members said that he went to a steak house to Celebrate his birthday and he ate a steak. He had gastric sleeve surgery in early November. He said the steak was so tender that he could eat it without a problem. The other group members looked at each other puzzled. How could this guy eat a steak less than two month post op from a gastric sleeve? I was sleeved close to a year and a half ago and I still can't tolerate steak. Pre op I would scarf down a 32oz porterhouse with no problem and then order dessert.
He then said that we shouldn't be ashamed to ask for a doggie bag as he went to a restaurant a few weeks ago and couldn't finish his order of roast beef and took the uneaten portion home. One group member asked him WHY is he eating this stuff and HOW can he eat it. He said that it was his birthday with the steak and he doesn't want to be deprived. He said if he deprives himself he's only going to want it more. It goes to show you, WLS takes care of the stomach not the mind.

Consider also that some people are less than honest simply for reactions of others. I'd take what he's says with a grin of salt. Either way, he's got some unrecognized mental issues that will continue to plague him until he faces them. This just may not be his time, if ever. Some just seen incapable of deep and honest retrospection.

  6. I just can't reiterate enough on how glad I am that I decided to have surgery[emoji847]!!! My journey started in June of 2017, that's when I decided to go with the gastric bypass. I had to wait for a whole year before I actually had surgery, due to not being able to keep my weight down🤷🏾‍♀️. I finally had surgery in June 2018 and it has been the best decision I could have made to regain control of my body and my life. I thought it would take close to a year, to get near my goal weight. However, to my amazement i'm only 19 lbs., away from my goal weight now[emoji1495]‍♀️!!! Since my journey began up until now, I have lost 113 lbs.! I have noticed that my metabolism has sped up and I now have to have about 5 small meals through the day. My food digest's really fast now and i'm okay with that. I'm so happy that I can be active and do things that I haven't done in many years. It feels awesome to go shopping and not[emoji1496]‍♀️ have to go in the plus sized(goodbye size 26) section anymore
    (Hello size 10)[emoji1494]!!!

  7. I chose the sleeve for 2 reasons. One i am self pay.. and the difference in cost is well astronomical. But more importantly when i was doing the research. I didnt want my intestines rearranged. I wanted everything to function as normal. The Bypass from the research i have seen was more for patients that had a great deal of other health issues. I have been healthy other than my weight all my life. I am 49 years old and the only time i have ever been in the hospital was to have my children some 20 something years ago. I would say.. if you have other issues you want to resolve with your health then the Bypass maybe the way to go, but if it is solely a weight issue, then the sleeve should be just fine.
The sleeve is not good for anyone with a hiatus hernia or GERD.

  8. I had the sleeve in 2015. Now he wants to do a RNY. He was supposed to call me Friday, I'm hoping to hear from him tomorrow.
I did call his office and told them that the results were in. I was told he was out of town. At this point, I'm still very frustrated. The GERD is killing me.
I'm not trying to freak anyone out. I think my experience with all this has just stunk. I think that the surgery can really be great, I just think that my anatomy stinks. [emoji20]
Did you have an edoscopy before getting the sleeve and, if so, what were the findings?

  9. Well I think I am more adjusted now if I can call it that way I don’t know, feels like there was not enough job done prior to operation but it’s been done now so have to deal with it... now I am still in hospital and already whole team of people working with me and endocrinologist and psychotherapist and nutritionist... I don’t know exactly why she put me on liquid diet now that I am already so far from my op but I am doing all that they say but still weak and still shaking as my potassium level constantly drops i didn’t had CD before op but they say it is possible that it will come now... I don’t know my thyroid and high BP all is being sorted now so I am just waiting patiently... thank you for encouragement xx
I hope you get in track soon. Keep us posted.
