    Yeah just do regular broth.
I started keeping packets of it in my desk just in case.

Maybe make your own Bone Broth? I've done that and it is pretty good that way.....but a heck of alot cheaper to just buy it in the store. LOL

I usually only have Protein Shakes and some veggies during the day and then I get home and am hungry. Sigh. Almost done. Hopefully my liver is shrinking because I only lost 5 lbs so far...

The beginning part of the drive is not too bad because I live in a fairly rural area, but once I get down toward work (Pittsburgh) then the fun starts. I grew up in NY, so offensive driving and road rage are second nature to me...but the people here do NOT know how the heck to drive. It is INSANE.
And Penndot does NOT do a good job maintaining the highway that I have to take to work either, so that is always sketchy in the winter.

Say no to the crackers!!!!! Drink some tea. Drink some broth.

I tried Bone Broth and omg gross. I’m going to try some regular old broth instead tonight.

You are SO lucky that you have the option to work at home. I don't and I have a 35 mile drive.
We will see how I feel. I know after my hysterectomy, I came in, did what I had to do and would go home for the day. Depending on how I feel, I might do the same again.

I guess I am... I sort of take it for granted. I don’t drive 35 miles a week back and forth to work though let alone every day. Ugh. Sorry to hear that.

I feel like I am going to blow this liquid diet. I just had A FEW crackers. Ugh.

    Exactly.
I know patience is a virtue...blah blah blah, but I am one that once I make up my mind to do something, I get on with it.

So in the meantime, I do not have to do liquid diet until the day before the surgery, which is nice, but I started on Monday with doing liquids except for dinner which i am doing 3 oz of Protein and a cup of veggies.

And work sucks, so I am looking forward to surgery just to get the heck out of this office for 2 weeks. Pathetic that I want surgery in order to not be in work. LOL

The liquid diet sort of sucks but it is what it is...at this point I just have to accept it's what I have to do LOL

I am only planning on a week off of work, but...I have flexibility to work from home if I need/want and I can take a few more days. Basically I am gonna wing it and see how I feel. My doctor didn't even mention time off of work..sigh LOL

My surgery is on 1/22. I am so nervous but looking forward. It is the fear of complications or even dying.

You will be fine...the rate of complications is so low. I will probably feel this way though before my surgery in two weeks. Just keep telling yourself why you are doing it :)

The food funerals make me feel SO guilty.

When I went to my Dr on the 9th, he reminded me to not have the mentality that i am going to the chair. Well thats hard to do!!!!
Even though he is telling me that eventually I will be able to eat some of my favorites again, I really don't know if that is going to be the best thing for me to even attempt to do.

    Sigh

I didn't really even have a discussion with my dr about it...

but i ate a lot of carbs and I will be paying for it in the next few days. However, I am actually sick of food right now because I ate a lot more than I have been in months so hopefully I feel this way for two weeks LOL

I still have caffeinated coffee occasionally. We're allowed to have it up until surgery, but it was recommended to stop so you'd go through any withdrawals out of the hospital. I don't have withdrawals at all, so I really think I'm fine to just keep drinking it. Should probably save these Decaf k-cups for post-surgery.

I will probably get a headache from caffeine withdrawal but I think that will be the least of my worries. I cut back on the amount I drink- I'm down from an XL coffee to a Medium. But I know they said after you have to use cream or something like that and I drink my coffee black..so we shall see how that goes :(

My surgeon uses a different pre-op diet: 2 shakes/day, unlimited veggies, 3 oz. of meat/day, and very limited other things, so it's low carb by nature and totals less than 1000 calories/day most days. I started it a week early and have dropped 15 lbs so far and hope to drop a little more this week. For my 2 Protein Shakes, I'm usually having Amazon Elements Grass-Fed 100% whey Protein Isolate (vanila) mixed with 2 tbsp PB2 and 1 tbsp cocoa and 8 ounces of almond milk (yum) for one shake and a "latte" made of chocolate equate Premier Protein knockoff mixed with 12 oz. of Decaf coffee for the other. I don't like most pre-made shakes, but I don't mind it in coffee for now. I'm pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoy the Amazon brand Protein Powder, though, and I hope my tastes don't change much in that regard after surgery. I only bought it 'cause it was on sale and the ingredients look very similar to an expensive brand called Jay Robb that I've read a lot about.

I'm getting about 20 grams of natural fiber/day and STILL need a Fiber supplement. I'm not taking it, but I need it. Must be all the Protein.

This is a good preop diet if I have seen one...lots of options. I did somethign similar in the weeks up to this minus last week and it worked out well. I like the Orgain premade but only 20g of Protein and the premier premade. I need to find a good powder for post op to keep costs down a bit ....I may check out the amazon one you mentioned. Doesn't sound bad at all. I am still allowed regular coffee these two weeks so that makes me happy. I will obviously not have any the day of surgery or after until we are allowed it again but I am glad I can have it now.

Pretty much the same, I can have sf yogurt, Jello, creamy Soups, broth, I have Protein Water too and tons of Powerade and crystal light 😩 good luck to you too!

Oh yeah, i can have that stuff too- minus the creamy Soups. But I dont have any desire to have Jello or yogurt to be honest. I will save that for after. SF Popsicle too but it's cold as hell here....so I don't want anything cold. At least you only have to do a week :)

I just started my liquid diet today let’s see how it goes! Surgery 1/21 this coming Monday eek!

Good Luck. What are you having for your liquid diet? I am just having Protein Shakes, maybe a Protein Water depending if I get sick of shakes....and maybe broth if I feel the need. I can also have up to two cups of non starchy veggies if I want and need to take a Fiber supplement .

  11. I just started two week pre-op today. My surgery is at the end of the month- 1/30. I feel like I am bringing up the tail end here since everyone else is already having surgery this month or just in a few days. Impatiently waiting LOL

Good luck to everyone this week and next! I'm sure in a few days I will be a hangry mess...today I will be fine because I am still full from all of the food I ate yesterday haha.....ugh

My first appointment was 12/10. They scheduled everything to be done 2/14. I expected a lot of appointments .. but the 4th nutrition appoinment is really throwing my schedule off. I was hoping to be submitting 2/14 and now they probably won't submit til after March. I'm hoping they will submit and schedule anyway. I need to call them to see if they have a patient coordinator. I haven't been able to get past the front desk yet though.

    Thanks guys!

I started beginning of Oct....surgery will be 1/30- I had zero issues, but had to go through the same this as you for the most part. Didn't need a sleep study though and didn't have any extra cadio after the first visit. Nutritionist visits though weekly or bi-weekly for weigh ins. Starting liquids tomorrow for two weeks and then surgery day. It's just a process to prepare you. It's annoying and frustrating, sure, but seems to serve a purpose.....this isn't an overnight thing, it is a life changing journey.

:51_scream: I have a Sam's Club membership (that I've used once in 2 years LOL) Maybe I should go see what all they have over there.

They may have some things you don't expect.....I get my premier shakes at Coscto also. Price is better there than most other places. They have muscle milk (which some people seem to like) and Orgain Shakes also at costco ....I love Costco I swear HAHA
