  1. witchbabe I was banded the day after you and had my first fill 20 days post op. He put in 3cc's so I now have 5 total and I wouldn't say he stabbed the port he injected into the port. It was only a slight prick and really didn't hurt at all. I was surprised he didn't do it with an x-ray but he said he doesn't like to use one unless he has no other options. My port sticks out so much anyway I could probably do my own fill.

    7 Days to go!!!!

Everyone on this site can relate! It's the hardest part of the process. My doctor allowed pureed soups, low fat yogurt, sugar free ice pops, fruit smoothies and sugar free jello. Good luck!

Please tell me it is worth it!!

Thin-within welcome to the self-pay club! I know how you feel I know as a mom and wife it is hard to put ourselves first sometimes but with the support of a very loving husband I made the decision and out came the credit card (14,000 reward points too!). I have lost 20 lbs so far with a way to go but so far I have no regrets. It seemed like the last few months before surgery every week when I got on the scale I was gaining. Now I am losing and knowing it won't be coming back. I am 49 and just wanted to live a long happy life which I would not be able to do without my band. So be proud of the decision you have made and be grateful you have the love and support of those most important to you. Good luck on your journey!
  4. This is the perfect example of while it's ok to trade stories and advice but the doctor is always the final answer you should seek!! Kizzie so glad you are going to be ok now enjoy those mushies you have earned them!
  5. I have 5cc's with no feelings of restriction at all!!!!! Very Frustrating isn't it?
  6. I have one set for July 16th when I get my second fill.........
  7. Leslie never thought I would say this to someone but I hope you have a stomach flu! Let us all know what your doctor says.

4th Fill and Hoping it works

Ladies I so relate!!!!I am beginning to feel like I need to join the slow losers thread! I haven't lost weight in 2 weeks and I WATCH everything that goes in my mouth and log it in on daily plate. I started exercising and really working up a sweat and still the scale isn't moving. I don't cheat, no sweets, no in between snacking like I used to pre-band and I eat my protein first where before it would have been carbs first:) I had 2cc's in my band day of surgery and my first fill 3 weeks later gave me a total of 5cc's but I feel no restriction at all. The only thing that lets me know I have a band is if I eat something too fast I get that golf ball thing but that's it. I went for sushi the other night and ate a whole roll thats 8 pieces! I should have stopped myself but I just wanted to test the band, I could have eaten another one but keeping a log that I have to show my doctor stopped me lol. Enough ranting for today!
  9. I had the exact same thing post-op I thought I was dying, instead I was very dehydrated. My doctor told me to of course drink more but get in those calories and suggested I go once a day to a smoothie shop and get a smoothie and I followed his direction and in a day or two felt like myself again!

    I don't cook

If you have a Taco Bell near you their pintos & cheese is awesome!!!!!
  11. thughes113 that really sounds like the dreaded post-op gas pains but I would call the doctor about not having a BM in so many days because that can cause pain and discomfort too. He may suggest a stool softener.
  12. Sarah, I haven't had any specific food problems but when I eat fast I get that golf ball feeling and it is painful!!!!!! I think food gets stuck at the band is what is causing the problem......anyone have an answer?

    I suck.

Linksmom.....Buy a Wii Fit if you can find one it's so fun you don't know you are working out until the next day when every muscle in you body hurts. Jennifer27 I notice you are 31 years old that's many years of poor eating habits and we are all creatures of habit! You can't expect to unlearn all those years of poor habits in 2 months. So you made a few mistakes tomorrow is another day and more fills to go where you will get more restriction and you won't have a choice but to eat less. I always go at the beginning of each week and buy a pre-cooked roasted chicken at the market and keep it in my fridge so if I am hungry at least I have a Protein all ready to go no prep needed.

    11 months 1 week - 100 lbs Gone

IndioGirl55 what an inspiration for those banded after you! Thanks for sharing the beautiful pictures!
  15. Froggi just noticed your down 13lbs way to go keep up the great work. Is it hard for you? Your not on all liquids are you?
  16. perhaps for a while you can eat a simpler diet. You should be eating a mostly protein diet anyway without all those heavy sauces. If you look at pre-packaged Asian foods you would be shocked by the high calorie count! Good luck!

    My 3rd Fill (see pic)

Phoenix I can tell you from my experience at my first fill 3 weeks post-op that yes the needle is big, no they don't numb you the doctor said that would hurt more, I did not watch! But NO IT DID NOT HURT!!!!! The doctor has you lay on the table and lift up your upper body like you were doing a modified sit up and it was barely a pinch. My doc took out the liquid in my band to measure it to make sure nothing had leaked out then put in 2 more cc's for the 5 total I now have. My second fill is in July. He also doesn't go in at the scar sight when you lift up the needle actually goes in about an inch lower. I was so worried about that but when I got up the band-aid was lower than the scar. I then had to do liquids for the next 8hrs. Hope this helps put to rest any anxiety!
  19. My doctor suggest eating something preferably protein every 2 hours. I find this really helpful as far as never really being hungry. I love protein bars packs in chocolate and protein so I feel like it's a treat.

    I am scheduled for May

bandfan what exercises are you doing on the rebounder.I have one and don't know what to do with it.............

    I am scheduled for May

Ddem I was having the same problem I was losing 1/2 lb a week and like you most of my loss was during the liquid stage but someone on this site told me to up my calories to around a 1000 which is double what I was eating too and guess what I lost 2 lbs this week and have so much energy I actually was able to work out twice this week. BTW my 1st fill gave me zero restriction my next is July 16th. Most important is we are losing and that's better than before the band!!!!!!! You can't compare yourself to others.
  23. I have ordered shrimp cocktail, french onion soup, grilled chicken, hamburger no bun and a fruit salad instead of fries. I have even had pasta just took off half and had them pack it right up in a to-go box, sushi is a favorite and easy to go out and eat and at this stage with only 1 fill I can eat a whole roll!

Have had RouxNY, Can I have Lap Band too?

When I went to my pre-op seminar there was a women who had the RNY and my surgeon was banding her.

Weigh in... how much have u lost?

Yukiko I haven't felt a difference since my first fill. I am having another July 16th. I have 5cc total right now(3cc@ surgery), but my doctor did tell me when he banded me it was like a hula-hoop on me so I guess I will need a few more fills to feel restriction.
