    banded 4-9-08 not loosing

Brandy, First off 13lbs is great but I understand your frustration especially when you see posts from people who lost twice as much as you in the same or shorter time. I am losing between 1/2-1 pound per week. Yet I see women who are down 40 lbs. UGH!!!! I found for me I need to log everything I put in my mouth on daily plate because otherwise without restriction I was eating so much more than the 1000 calories the doctor recommends. I go for my 2nd fill next month and am hoping for some restriction to make this journey a bit easier. Ask for fills closer together I can't believe you only had 1 so far. Good Luck and keep up the walking!!!!!!!!

Weigh in... how much have u lost?

    Amazing Globallyyours!!!!!!
  3. NY2LAGirl

    Why no restriction at all???

I am right there with Keri, find another doctor, you didn't go through all this for him to play god and not give you a fill. That's the whole reason for the band.

    Fitday.com vs TheDailyPlate.com‏

I love dailyplate and have been keeping my food journal there since I started solids post-op. This way I just print everything out to bring to the surgeons with me so we can review what I have eaten together and he suggests changes.

Sunshinelady hang in there this isn't the first time I read a response like this. Just keep up what you are doing, drink, exercise measure your food and wait it out you will get there especially after you start getting fills. have you had your first one yet? I got mine 20 days post-op......

    Checking out doctors

On that note you should ALWAYS call the medical board in your area to make sure the surgeon you choose has no complaints against him/her.

    lap band surgical disaster

Shelly what a horrible thing to have gone thru all because you wanted to live a healthy long life! Thank-God you are on the road to recovery! I would take the advice of aubrie and either seek legal counsel or make a report to the medical board. I would certainly request all your records! I hope you weren't a self pay. Perhaps if you still want to proceed with weight loss surgery in the future you might consider the sleeve. All the best!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Checking out doctors

I just googled Lab Band centers, found the doctors near me called and made an appt for a free consult and just talked to them. Believe me you can get a good feel for a doctor and his practice in that short time!!!!!

    "Top Surgeons"

It's a drive but try Journey Lite they have a few offices. I went to Thousand Oaks & Ventura they also have Santa Monica I think. They were great dealing with the insurance and you have to love Dr. Billy he knows his s**t! If you have further questions send me a private message I would be glad to help!
  12. I had the diarrhea the whole time I was on liquids which I guess accounted for the weight loss during that time. Now that I am on solids and eating mostly protein I am constipated and have to take a laxative twice a week do to that uncomfortable feeling. You can't win.

    I have a brilliant idea!

Funny you should post this yesterday at lunch my friend told me she rides this thing all day called the Stamina InStride Cycle. She sits at a computer all day and just cycles. I was going to try and find one she said she got hers at Walgreens.

    hello from a new joiner

Lauren & Phyl welcome! I was banded May 13th already had 1 fill 20 days post-op (didn't hurt) so I have 5cc's in my band and was on solid foods 21 days post-op. I have no restriction so I am hungry and can eat anything as long as I chew well or I get that golf ball in my chest thing. Phyl 32 pounds is amazing I am only down 18 and in the last 2 weeks only lost a half a pound. My next fill is July 16th so I am hoping for some restriction! Keep up the good work!

    Kind of worried

I had the same thing had the GI swallow pre-surgery then my surgeon repaired my hernia and placed the band at the same time which he said is common procedure in lapbands. I also had my gallbladder removed 15 years ago and 5 years ago had 2 hernias repaired.

Im so ashamed, and now scared

Pintos and beans was one of the things my doc's office told me to eat in my mushie stage which began at my 2nd week post-op. It's probably not what you ate but how fast you ate it. DONT MAKE YOURSELF THROW UP!!!! That golf ball feeling will fade eventually.
  17. Kelly I really believe as women we are given the gift of intuition or gut feeling and if your gut is telling you band do it! I agree with all these other wise women who posted before me why chop up your body if there is an alternative. I have 2 cousins (sisters) who through Kaiser have had bypass the first lost 60 pounds but I already see her back to her bad habits and eating everything because there is nothing stopping her and the other had her bypass last Wed. well guess what I got a call from her yesterday from ICU she was bleeding internally and they are opening her up today to find out where it is coming from. She is only 210 pounds why did she choose bypass? fast weight loss and Kaiser was pushing it. Don't think she is too happy with that choice now. Good luck on your journey!

    Is this good weight loss??

If I was down 42 pounds I would be throwing a parade down Main Street! Keep up the good work and I LOVE Mishee's response! It's priceless......
  19. NY2LAGirl

    OK-Let me have it!

Catlady I am right there with you. Each day that passes I can eat more and more. Whoever coined the term Bandster Hell is brilliant! I am just journaling everything I eat to make sure I am not over my maximum daily calorie intake. As I told my surgeon at my first fill this is the most expensive diet I have ever been on! Hoping my second fill in July will help somewhat.

That's an amazing amount of weight in such a short time. Way to go!

    Why no restriction at all???

Kinder136 I find the biggest help for me is to log everything I put in my mouth on Calorie Counter, Diet Tracking, Food Journal, Nutrition Facts at The Daily Plate. You don't realize how much you are eating unless you weigh it and write it down. Those calories come on fast and my doctor wants me to stay under 1000 calories a day because I can't exercise right now because of back problems. I also feel like I am more responsible for what I eat when I have to put it down on paper. Try it for a few days and see if it helps......Good Luck!
  22. NY2LAGirl

    why????

If not for my band I would not have lost an ounce in the last month never mind 18 pounds!!!!!
  23. NY2LAGirl

    Anyone else eating normal?

Don't be so hard on yourself just because we got banded doesn't mean we can un-learn a lifetime of poor habits that got us here in the first place overnight. You have taken the positive step to a new life. Take it day by day hour by hour if you have too! And 15 lbs down is amazing! BTW think twice about that hotdog. have you ever looked at how many calories 1 hotdog is? I decided it wasn't worth it after looking at the nutritional info on the side of my beloved Nathan's Franks.

    New with Questions

I was banded May 13th and my first week was rough but like magic on the 7th day I started to feel better. Believe me it is not painful just extremely sore. The roughest thing is post-op getting in fluids and proteins. I didn't and I got dehydrated by day 5 but once I started drinking I was fine and out and about on the 7th day. Everyone is different and you might be one of those who is back to work on the 3rd day as some on this site are. Good Luck!!!!!!!!

    calorie intake

I was banded May 13th and I am eating on the average 700 calories a day. The weekends are tougher and I go up to about 850-900 calories because we eat out a lot. I have no restriction after 1 fill so I am really still dieting at this point. As I told my surgeon at my post-op/fill appt. this is the most expensive diet I have ever been on! I just try to do protein/low carb
