MGB PROS CONS HELP
Hey guys I'm really tossing up between regular RNY or MGB I'd love to know honest responses on how life is with the MGB (omega loop) Do you have to eat slowly small bites? do you get full easily, has your hunger gone away? how is your weight loss? Any reflux issues? Literally good or bad information I need it all. Thank you. Like how much did you lose each month? or by 6 month and then 12 month? I've been told that RNY and MGB are very similar stat wise? Hope to hear from everyone

How’d you Choose? Sleeve v.s. Bypass?
Yeah I've done tons of research and my BMI is 43 with co morbidities so I feel RNY is best I can only afford 1 surgery and only want 1 so I hope my surgeon listens to my decision wisely

6 month post-op weight loss

How do I know I'm not being impulsive?
^^ each to their own but I know quite a few places in Australia who are able to do surgery from first consultation within 6-8 weeks they don't ask us to jump through all those hoops all they require is medical history and blood tests before committing to surgery I don't see the point of the 3-6 month diet since I've spent the past 20 years off and on diets as it is the reason why I'm looking at RNY bypass is BECAUSE diets haven't bloody worked for me DUH..

what's the worse things about bypass

DREAMING OF A SPECIAL OUTFIT?
My whole life long as I can remember since I watched Christopher Reeves in Superman I've been obsessed. I've bought multiple shirts with the big 'S' on front but most only go up to X or 2X so that's my dream to wear one of them and possibly have a nice chest to fill it out ? Up up and away!!

Trouble staying on my pre-op diet
Will Power. Think of the long term goal of WLS a small price to pay for surgery

Pre Op Diet
Most people I know in Australia go on a pre-op diet of 2-4 weeks just liquid protein using VLCD optifast shakes that's it..

How do I know I'm not being impulsive?
Still researching about 6 months but pretty made up my mind with the RNY bypass. There's plenty of information but they say if you need to lose more than 100lbs bypass is best it may be more restrictive in ways. And yes lapband has been known to have issues over the years.. Just keep doing your research

6 month post-op weight loss
There's a few things to consider.. Generally BMI over 40 is best for bypass as it is more restrictive. Generally if you have over 100lbs excess to lose overall you lose more percentage with bypass. But bypass does come with malabsorption which means you'll need to live off vitamins and make sure you get enough protein and water in your diet. There is possible dumping if you ever decide to even try junk food/fat/sugars ever again. There's plenty of information about..the main difference is sleeve actually removes most of your stomach where BYPASS may reroute your digestive system but your stomach still remains intact. In the end it's your choice! And the more work and effort you put in the better of course!

Disappointed
You're only 5 days out give everything time to heal and your whole metabolism to adjust I've read many posts where people don't check their weight for weeks as everything has to readjust

Insurance not covering bariatric surgeries
I'm also in Australia. I ONLY got insurance to pay for the WLS but even after everything I'll still be out of pocket around 4K not including vitamins etc But at least we don't seem to have any hoops just have to be the right BMI to get insurance cover. I've spoken to people who have only had 2 consultations with surgeon and had surgery all within 2 months! But there are some that require psychologists and Dietician but not all thank God. We have the choice! Your health insurance in the USA acts like car or home insurance and seems to do everything not to pay up!
