I'm going to my last dietitian and therapy session today. It's been a 6 month process for me. My weight has fluctuated the 6 month bc it's just been a trial and error of finding out what I need to do to be proactive in my weight loss journey. Congratulations on getting this far! You're almost there!

I went to a running shoe store in my area to be properly fitted for shoes. I suffer from plantar fasciitis and I was wearing the wrong kind of shoe that just made it worse. You don't have to buy the shoe from the running store. You can take the measurements and find a cheaper pair online.

She submitted it that day and she called me 2 days later with the approval. From there it took 2 buisiness days to get scheduled. My surgery ways 10 days from scheduling. I’m pretty sure my experience is best case senario. I would just make sure to be your own advocate and follow up and make sure records are getting where they need to go.
I am going thru UC Hospital so they have a whole unit for the Bariatric. I also work for UC as well. So I'm hoping that plays into my favor. Just nervous. Everyone on this site has been more than helpful and insightful. Congrats on your weight loss!!!!

If it takes longer that doesn't mean that you won't be approved. Like the other poster said, these surgeons have done so many procedures and most of the staff knows exactly what they need to submit to get you approved.
BTW: I called my insurance company myself about 4 days after it was submitted by my team and it was approved and the nurse called me later that day to schedule my surgery.
You will be fine and congrats 😉
How did you get the weight measure? thats so cute!! congrats on your weight loss!!! Get it girl!!!

Hello Ya'll I am at the end of my 6 month requirement for surgery. My last appt is at the end of this month. I am nervous about everything being submitted for the final approval. How long did it take for the insurance to approve the surgery? I am hoping it is not a long wait bc I am really hoping for a December surgery date. It's been a long 6 months.

Two insurance are a wonderful thing to have. Call the billing dept of the hospital and they should be able to give you pricing. Some hospitals will give you a discount if you pay the full balance in full before the surgery. If you can't pay the total amount due then you can make payments after your surgery.

Congratulations!!! You are one step closer. I had my last apt yesterday and my dr's office sent my papers to the insurance. I called my insurance today to make sure they received them. And they stated that they have them and are awaiting a nurse to be assigned for the final decision.
