I could not imagine the grief that your family is feeling. I am so sorry for your loss. Such a tragedy to loose someone so young. Sending prayers to you and your family.

I would consult your dr about the pain. Sometimes loosing that much weight the skin sets differently on your body and actually can pull causing pain or discomfort. Hope you find relief soon.

You look great girl!! Congratz!!!!!

My dietitian told us if we want coffee and instead of Creamer to add a scoop of vanilla Protein to it with some Splenda if it needs to be a little sweeter. But I like the hot chocolate idea too.

Getting closer to our surgery dates! I just ordered my Protein Shakes online for my liquid diet on Friday. I was able to get Boost Smart Calorie at Walmart for $7.84 for a 6 pack so I ordered 11 and plus side its being delivered to my door. My Dr's office charges $22 for a box of Protein shakes that has 7 servings . Thought I would share my deal finder in case anyone elses Dr's office lets them have Boost Smart Calorie for the liquid diet. Good Luck!!!! :)

I was a little out of it for the first week, not really hungry but weak and groggy. And I had a drain in after surgery for 2 weeks and it was uncomfortable, and I was wearing stretchy/lose pants that might not be appropriate for work.
Good luck! It was the best decision I've ever made.
I have a desk job as well. I wear a bulky lab coat and scrub pants. Maybe i'll go buy some yoga pants to help for the first couple of weeks. I do have a coworker that is on stand by incase I need more time off which is super sweet of her to do for me.

Congratulations!! That's wonderful!! My drs office told me to take a picture of myself every month because you can really see the difference when you can't see it on the scale. Keep up the good work!!!!

I don't know how long I should actually take off of work. My surgery is on a Friday so I took off the weekend and that Monday. How many days or weeks did you guys take off. My Dr said it was up to me how many days I actually take off because I do not have a strenuous job and no lifting is required so he said a few days then I should be okay to return.

I wasn't expecting such a huge response to my question. Thank you everyone for all your personal experiences and advise. I talked to my husband about it and he brought up so really great points for me to remember. I'm not going to tell anyone else in my family or friends until after I am post op and I am going to use Bariatric Pal to talk to people because I know I will get the positivity I need and support while I am going through the motions of my journey. I can offer support, advise and motivation to others here as well. Again Thank you guys for all the advise and sharing your personal experiences with me. Not everyone in my personal life will agree or be excited for me. But I'm choosing not to give them a chance to bring me down about something I've worked so hard for.

Yea I haven't shouted it from the roof tops and I've stayed off of personal social media as well. I feel its personal. I do like that idea of telling people after the surgery. I'll just have to remember to say that support is welcomed but not criticism. That's really great advise. Negativity is not something I need nor want right now especially right before surgery. Anxiety is already high just from the anticipation of the surgery.

Tons of factors come into play. I think people just might not know what to say about the whole surgery thing. Surgery to some is probably very traumatic. All that matters is that we are choosing to better ourselves. Whether its through surgery, non surgery or what ever other method they need to see that! When's your surgery? Mine is Dec 26th...my moms bday! I sure hope everything goes well!

Awe you are getting close to your surgery day! I'm so excited for you. My surgery day isn't until Feb 1st because my surgeon is just booked out that far. My mother in laws comment was just off putting to me because I thought she would be happy for me. And it did hurt my feelings for 2.5 secs because I know how hard I worked to get where I am now. I actually have lost weight during this whole process because I'm learning healthy eating habits and exercise for my body. I've had the support of the bariatric unit at the hospital.

I'm having an internal struggle about telling people that I am having bariatric surgery. My husband has been so supportive so has my parents and 3 really close friends. But when I told my mother in law after I received my official surgery date. She said well why can't you just follow a diet. I don't think she meant it to be as hurtful as it sounded but its comments like that I don't want to hear. It was already hard enough to make the decision to start my weight loss journey and to get to this point I am now. Its an accomplishment that I am proud of but I feel like I am keeping it a secret. After my mother in laws comment I don't think I will tell anyone else. Has anyone had the negativity with telling people in their life?

I did 6 months of observation before I could have my papers submitted to the insurance. My insurance came back after a week. I called them every day to make sure they had my paper work and check the status. I was creeping hard lol hope you find out soon!

I would be beside myself. But there isn't anything that you can do this late at night. I would call the insurance company and the drs office in the morning. Maybe the Dr's office sending over the needed documentations will be all the insurance needs for a quick turn around for the approval part. We are our best advocates sometimes. Keep on them girl. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!!! Good luck with your surgery.

Can your Dr's office do anything? I would call them and let them know what is going on. Sometimes they can help

I called my insurance company today to see what the status was. It's still pending but a funny thing happened after I had called. About an hr later I get a phone call from my insurance company so I started getting excited. The lady said I am calling for Pam I'm with the authorization dept. I said No this isn't Pam but I'm waiting on my bariatric approval. The lady said oooohhh sorry I dialed the wrong number I was calling a drs office.
Before I could say are you looking at my chart the lady hung up. So I do know Pam works at my Bariatric Dr's office soooo fingers crossed!!!!!!

I just finished my last appt on 11/28/2018 and I called my insurance company today to make sure the papers were there. I've read to many forums where peoples papers weren't sent or were lost in the system. So I was on top of it today. They said they had them and were waiting to assign them to a nurse for review. So fingers crossed!!!! I hope my goes that fast.
