How did your family and friends react?

I wasn't expecting such a huge response to my question. Thank you everyone for all your personal experiences and advise. I talked to my husband about it and he brought up so really great points for me to remember. I'm not going to tell anyone else in my family or friends until after I am post op and I am going to use Bariatric Pal to talk to people because I know I will get the positivity I need and support while I am going through the motions of my journey. I can offer support, advise and motivation to others here as well. Again Thank you guys for all the advise and sharing your personal experiences with me. Not everyone in my personal life will agree or be excited for me. But I'm choosing not to give them a chance to bring me down about something I've worked so hard for.

How did your family and friends react?

Yea I haven't shouted it from the roof tops and I've stayed off of personal social media as well. I feel its personal. I do like that idea of telling people after the surgery. I'll just have to remember to say that support is welcomed but not criticism. That's really great advise. Negativity is not something I need nor want right now especially right before surgery. Anxiety is already high just from the anticipation of the surgery.

How did your family and friends react?

Awe you are getting close to your surgery day! I'm so excited for you. My surgery day isn't until Feb 1st because my surgeon is just booked out that far. My mother in laws comment was just off putting to me because I thought she would be happy for me. And it did hurt my feelings for 2.5 secs because I know how hard I worked to get where I am now. I actually have lost weight during this whole process because I'm learning healthy eating habits and exercise for my body. I've had the support of the bariatric unit at the hospital.

    February 2019 Sleevers?

I did 6 months of observation before I could have my papers submitted to the insurance. My insurance came back after a week. I called them every day to make sure they had my paper work and check the status. I was creeping hard lol hope you find out soon!
  6. Oh that's wonderful!!! I was wondering what they would do. Good luck girl!!! Tomorrow is going to be great!!!
  7. I would be beside myself. But there isn't anything that you can do this late at night. I would call the insurance company and the drs office in the morning. Maybe the Dr's office sending over the needed documentations will be all the insurance needs for a quick turn around for the approval part. We are our best advocates sometimes. Keep on them girl. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!!! Good luck with your surgery.
  8. Can your Dr's office do anything? I would call them and let them know what is going on. Sometimes they can help

    Insurance approval

I called my insurance company today to see what the status was. It's still pending but a funny thing happened after I had called. About an hr later I get a phone call from my insurance company so I started getting excited. The lady said I am calling for Pam I'm with the authorization dept. I said No this isn't Pam but I'm waiting on my bariatric approval. The lady said oooohhh sorry I dialed the wrong number I was calling a drs office. Before I could say are you looking at my chart the lady hung up. So I do know Pam works at my Bariatric Dr's office soooo fingers crossed!!!!!!

    Insurance approval

I just finished my last appt on 11/28/2018 and I called my insurance company today to make sure the papers were there. I've read to many forums where peoples papers weren't sent or were lost in the system. So I was on top of it today. They said they had them and were waiting to assign them to a nurse for review. So fingers crossed!!!! I hope my goes that fast.

    sending to insurance

Congratulations!!! You are one step closer. I had my last apt yesterday and my dr's office sent my papers to the insurance. I called my insurance today to make sure they received them. And they stated that they have them and are awaiting a nurse to be assigned for the final decision.

Just holding my breath until the insurance comes back!!!! My scheduler said that I am looking at an early January date!! Wish it was sooner but beggars can't be choosers. SOOOO EXCITED!!!

    Almost there I hope

I'm going to my last dietitian and therapy session today. It's been a 6 month process for me. My weight has fluctuated the 6 month bc it's just been a trial and error of finding out what I need to do to be proactive in my weight loss journey. Congratulations on getting this far! You're almost there!
  16. Hello Ya'll I am at the end of my 6 month requirement for surgery. My last appt is at the end of this month. I am nervous about everything being submitted for the final approval. How long did it take for the insurance to approve the surgery? I am hoping it is not a long wait bc I am really hoping for a December surgery date. It's been a long 6 months.
  17. I went to a running shoe store in my area to be properly fitted for shoes. I suffer from plantar fasciitis and I was wearing the wrong kind of shoe that just made it worse. You don't have to buy the shoe from the running store. You can take the measurements and find a cheaper pair online.
  18. That looks amazing! Thanks for sharing

    Insurance approval

How did you get the weight measure? thats so cute!! congrats on your weight loss!!! Get it girl!!!
  22. I have one more appt to go at the end of the month. The scheduler said that once everything is approved I could possibly be squeezed into a December date. So I'm crossing my fingers because I am certainly ready. Its been a long 6 month process
  23. Two insurance are a wonderful thing to have. Call the billing dept of the hospital and they should be able to give you pricing. Some hospitals will give you a discount if you pay the full balance in full before the surgery. If you can't pay the total amount due then you can make payments after your surgery.
