  1. Thank you.

I was swollen. Do you know what causes that?

When I went in, I was completely closed up. They removed .5cc and still nothing was passing through. Took out another .3cc and I felt a release and a big air bubble came up. It was the best feeling ever.

They are going to leave it open through the holiday and I go back in early Jan. to start closing it back up.

I did lose 10lbs in during that 2 weeks. I'm expecting to gain some of it back because it's so open. Surprisingly, I'm not as hungry as I thought I'd be.

  2. I'm wondering how long it takes for my meal to pass through my pouch.

Since my last fill on the 11/13, I'm having a hard time eating and keeping down liquids. It seems like anything I eat is too much and comes back up.

This past Sunday, I ate lunch around noon - 3 bites of chicken, and 3 bites of green Beans. Not a lot, but I was full with just that. It wasn't until 6pm that evening that I could drink any fluids without it coming back up. I had a terrible headache.

I'm concerned I'm not getting enough fluids because I'm having to wait so long.

Today I had a few bites of chicken around 10am. I drank some liquids around 1, and threw up. Just a few minutes ago (almost 4pm now) I had some sliming and up came more chicken. I would think it should have all passed by now :)

I've also been spitting up foam.

Right now I'm only able to eat once each day. I'm thinking I'm too tight, and made an appt. for next week.

    Any thoughts, or ideas?

  3. I was able to talk to the dietician at my clinic today and she informed me of what probably is happening.

I've been extra slimy with these last two fills and the slime/mucous in the pouch curdles the milk before all of it can pass through my band. So as I kept drinking it, I got fuller.

She advised me to drink warm liquids to clear the mucous before having milk.

  4. I drank some chocolate milk because I felt a little hungry this morning, but I am never open enough to eat anything most days - it's 2% with a little Hershey's lite Syrup for the chocolate.

I got about most of the way through it and I started having sliming and was sure why. I ended up throwing up big chocolate milk chunks (yes gross, i know). I dont think anything is wrong with the milk, just opened it 3 days ago. Maybe because it's 2%

Has anyone else had a problem with milk chunking up in their pouch?

  5. Several years ago, I bought a universal whole life insurance policy through MetLife. I don't remember what my weight was at the time but I bought the policy at least 10 years ago. I do remember asking about it when I bought it and my rep said the loss would have to be significant and I thought "yeah that will never happen, nevermind".

Now that I'm banded, should my premium go down since my risk for obesity related diseases is also reduced?

I don't want to call the insurance company thinking maybe they won't want to cover me any more because of banding.

    Thanks!

  6. I have tried exercise and changing my eating habits but I am unable to tune into that full feeling. That is why banding is going to work for me.

I have the same problem, of not being able to tell when to stop when eating. In my case (this may not be the same for you), but the band does NOT help me in this aspect. All it does is get you there with less food so you can't overeat.

Eating slowly will help you with this. I had lots of trouble (and still do somewhat) with regurgitating after my first really restrictive fill for that reason. It takes the same amount of time for your stomach to tell your brain to stop.

I've had to adjust the way I eat to help with this, and it's not something that changes the moment the band goes on, there will be some learning.

  7. After a loss of 65 pounds, my hands are so much thinner I can't even wear my wedding ring anymore. The last time I had it on, I was talking with my hands. I threw open my arms for emphasis and my ring went flying across the room. I had to stop wearing it for now. I will get it sized when I'm finished losing. No sense in paying for that twice!!! But my husband is heartbroken.

Aubrie, I'm going through this also. My husband has also lost some weight and his ring fits loose.

We bought some $3 stainless steel bands on eBay and are wearing those temporarily.

    ...

I've also lost half a shoe size.

  8. This may sound silliy but does cyrstal ligh con in a can? My amily and I collect alluimium cans to save money or trips and to recycle...I don't wanna stop that if I can. Or any other drinks that are not soda con in cans?

Take the money you would have spent on soda and put it in your vacay fund. It will add up much faster

Back on topic, I've been told no carbonated drinks for 6 months. I did have a 12oz. fountain Coke today though. I let it sit for a bit and took small sips.

My dentist likes that I'm not drinking all that soda!

  9. I'm in San Antonio and I haven't been to any of the band support groups yet, but I know they are out there. So I have not experienced any band vs. RNY debates.

My mother is now considering surgery as she is seeing my progress. Even though I'm banded and I'm pushing her to look more closely at RNY because of her diabetes, high-blood pressure, "co-morbidities".

Everyone is different. We don't all drive the same car, so how can we all be expected to lose weight the same way?

    Good luck!

  10. It's been 3 months since banding, and one of the biggest noticable changes so far is my hands and fingers.

My fingers are no longer looking like sausages , but.. the skin on the top of my fingers and hands are looking kind of wrinkled and you can see all the little crack lines, even though my skin isn't overly dry.

I'm 30, and don't use any anti-aging creams or special hand lotions. But has anyone else experienced this and what can I do to make the skin appear tighter and more "youthful"?

    Thanks

  11. Kind of ticks me off I can find thousands of online sites that carry bras up to sizes like G HH or even Z as long as your 36-48 inches around!! But I cant find one that has sizes bigger then a 52. I only need a D or DD cup but I need like a 64 around. =/

Have you tried biggerbras.com? - I've purchased from them in the past.

They have listing for up to 56.

    Hope that helps you!

  12. I'm currently wear two underwires that are sized 46FF. I bought 2 bras that were 44G online, and were too small to wear. They sat in my drawer for about a year, and now I'm wearing them

HeatherO - DD is bigger than a D. You should have stuck with a D or tried smaller.

Kat817 is correct. Also, I've found that the cup is not the same size when going to smaller sizes. The cup on a 36D is not the same size as a 40D.

so if previously, there was a 5 inch difference when you were 40 around, and making the assumumption that your breasts didn't get smaller, the difference is now a 9 inches, which means you'd have to go for a bigger cup for a 36 bra.

But with the weight loss, your boobs probably got smaller also, which is why it's important to take the measurements.

  13. Hello there!

I just found this site today. I underwent surgery one week ago (4/21/08) and had a REALIZE band "installed". Dr. Frank Duperior of New Dimensions weight loss in San Antonio, TX was my surgeon.

I had lost 16lbs prior to surgery, and I'm not sure how much I've lost so far this week just being on liquids.< /p>

So far so good, and the recovery has been WAY easier than it was when I had a c-section.

I'm looking forward to getting some great info here! :wink2:
