  1. I am on the same plan - I actually started 1 week early because I had 'last super' kind of week last week and felt like cr*p. I have been having the salad greens and grilled chicken with ff Catalina dressing for lunch b/c I need more food during the day. As for the Tomato soup and chick. noodle soup I added beef broth granules to the tomato soup and chicken broth granules to the chicken noodle soup. Then I add various SF syrups to the shakes to get different flavors. Hope that helps.

    Who's Getting Banded in July?

    :wink_smile:Thanks for adding me!!
  3. Hi TillyD! Good luck and best wishes on your surgery. I totally agree with you on the pre-op diet thing. :thumbup:I am enjoying it (I am doing medifast) and the food is good (based on everyones comments I thought it would taste like dirt.) Take care and report back!
  4. Hello, I had the same problem. I take 3 small pills each night. So I bought this flavor kit: FLAVORiT Home Flavoring Kit by FLAVORx - CWI Medical I haven't had my surgery yet, so I am just mock testing the waters. My doc wants me to crush my pills for at least 4 weeks after surgery.... So I put the flavoring in this tube thingy add my pills and add a pinch of Water and everything disolves. It works pretty good and I can play around with the flavors.

    Who's Getting Banded in July?

I am getting really nervous and excited. Im heading in July18th!
  6. My hubby is so sweet (and naturally thin of course) he has been real concerned about my health for a long time, but never said much. I would never tell him before, but I figured I needed to 'grow up' & get real and straight talk with him about my real health crisis. :incazzato: So I told him. He is really supportive and now I tell him each time I loose a pound:thumbup:

    July 2nd

I hear yah. I find myself having moments of anxiety too along with excitement for the future. But together::confused:
  9. I am a Project Manager and have noticed that other PMs who I work with (who are skinny and pretty) get away with doing so much less than I do, yet they get paid a lot more money than me. The pay thing I will take on, but the whole insidious attitude thing, just grates on me. So I am curious how weight loss impacted others attitude towards you (both good and bad).

  11. I will NOT miss: Seeing my reflection and being floored that I am really "that big" Sitting in the passenger seat of small cars like a stuffed hippo, trying to be cool and buckle my seat belt but my stomach is too huge. Wearing old lady professional clothes (I am 33!!) Spending thousands and thousands of dollars on on-line shopping because I can't even wear Lane Bryant. Shopping at 'Catherine's' (old lady tent and awning store) Never ever being able to shoe shop because my feet are so swollen and large. Not being able to fit into restaurant booths. Hating sex 'cause it freaking hurts my gut. Organizing everything in my life around me being able to eat a meal. Having my career affected. Not seeing old friends Not going to Water parks Not biking Not camping Not fitting into my tub or being able to get out.. This list could go on forever!

    Too fat for lapband?

Something similair happend to me...with my general doctor. I was sitting in his office telling him what my plan was, what research I did, what my insurance would and would not cover etc etc. And he had the gall to nod and then tell me to call some doctor he knew in Seattle about RNY because "this particular doctor's procedure has very little if any 'dumping syndrome' " (as if!:tt1:) I was pissed. I had just spent 20 minutes (out of courtesy) telling my GP what I was about to do and he went on to say well: "I don't want to discourage you, I mean it is good that you are doing this even if it is the second best choice of both procedures" . I can tell you he is lucky that I am not the type of person who makes big scenes when people are so obviously ingorant-- I so wanted to let him have it.. Long story short, I went to a LB seminar given by my LB Doc and his seminar covered all the details I needed (about stats and LB vs. RNY) and Dr. Neal rebutted EVERYTHING my GP said as well as what your doc said! Dr Neal has patients that weigh way over 400 lbs. You sound to me you are so in the zone for a life change. Don't doubt yourself and your instincts.

  15. I had my preOp appointment last Wednesday (I had to go early because the entire month of June I am slammed at work) So I had a meeting with my doc/surgeon, had my preop consult and got all my homework: 1) Sign consent form 2) See nutritionist July 2nd 3) Got my prescription for post op meds 4) Had to watch a lapband information video 5) Got my 6 week post of diet plan (still trying to get my head around all that) 6) Got my box of 2 weeks medifact preOp diet (start July 4th!! ugh) 7) Got a list of all the days I will need to come back for fills and post op appointments. 8) attend a seminar (did in May) I am glad I went early for my consult because I have a huge list of questions to ask 'em!

    GP derailed me today!

That is sooo awesome!!! You know docs are human beings too and they come with their own ideas and preconceived ideas sometimes. I know you said you may be switching docs (and rightly so) but on the other hand I bet you, if you stay with this ill informed doctor you will not only educate him/her you will make a world of difference for the next client who has to deal with that doc. I was shocked!!! when you said your doctor prescribed zoloft??!! Now that is was wack! Geeze that doctor has a lot to learn about mental disorders.

    Phantom Band????

Nope not crazy at all. I have been trying to envision my new life (the feelings, the eating, how will it work, etc.) since April. If you constantly put your mind in that 'place' you will feel as if you already have the band. Our minds are very powerful things.
  21. Your post made me laugh --- that very thing actually happened to me today. I thought I was so weird for thinking that. The other one was: I was walking down this long narrow corridor at work and these 2 skinny gals were walking towards me and this guy in front of me didn't know I was behind him and he was craining his neck to see them as they past and then he saw me and whipped his head back forward (embarrassed I am sure) I thought man , next year I am going to be one of those gals who gets your neck crain look instead of being the person you don't want to stare at (I am married but hey, I wanna get looks too!!)

RNY - lapband...which way to go???

I have began to see that many doctors tend to prefer the RNY (I assume because of the volume of loss people can have quickly, the unlikely hood you would regain with such a drastic surgery as well as the fact that the RNY was the gold standard for so many years.) But, after doing research that surgery is very scary surgery. 1) You are permanenly rerouting your organs 2) hair loss and other problems are very common 3) it is not reversible without major out of pocket money 4) Many people who eat more tan 10grams of sugar per serving - DUMP. Dumping is way worse than any lap band issues. - Sugar is in EVERYTHING (ok, not everything...but it is in a lot of things.) and going out to eat is a real pain. Read these things - I did and it changed my mind for good. I am soo happy now, I know I am making the right decision (I have 140 pounds to loose) [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Want-Live-Gastric-Bypass-Reversal/dp/0972655409/]Amazon.com: I Want To Live: Gastric Bypass Reversal: Dani Hart: Books[/ame] Also, I just got back form a seminar and the RNY vs. LB are not about weight loss because studies show we get to the finish line too! Just not in the first 9-12 months like RNY (at my weight anyway). I have read so many books and was going to do the RNY but just couldn't go through with it. You will see in the next 5 years LB will surpass RNY as being the Gold standard procedure.:w00t:
