How wonderful!!!! Are your nurses nice and helpful? Are you kicking yourself for not bringing something? Are you going home this afternoon or staying another night?
  2. OMG I wish I could go to some of my branches next week!!!! That would have helped me so much.

    January surgeries?!

See, I am so glad this place exists. I can say this type of stuff to my hubby and he would look at me like I have 2 heads. He just does NOT get it.

    January surgeries?!

The food funerals make me feel SO guilty. When I went to my Dr on the 9th, he reminded me to not have the mentality that i am going to the chair. Well thats hard to do!!!! Even though he is telling me that eventually I will be able to eat some of my favorites again, I really don't know if that is going to be the best thing for me to even attempt to do. Sigh

    January surgeries?!

My surgery is on the 29th, but I only have to do liquids the day before.....BUT I have chosen to do something very similar to what your doctor orders starting on Tuesday. Right now I am trying hard to at least try to eat healthy, but it is so hard as i am having food funerals.

Anyone else's surgeon say no preop diet?

I do not have a pre-op diet other than liquids the day before the surgery. My surgeon had said if my BMI were higher, then yes, he would consider it.

    Sadness

Armchair psychologist here..... Do you think perhaps you feel like this, wanting faster results because it would then stop your mother from being unsupportive and unapproving? Please find a support group to attend near you. Please find a FB support group as well. PLEASE post often to get support here.
  9. Oh I am right there with you. My type A personality is not knowing what in the heck to do right now. I have 2 weeks until my surgery. I have pre-made quite a bit of soups to freeze, bought as much things as possible without being wasteful, organized and then reorganized. I just don't know what else to do and I hate that feeling!!!!
  10. Vent away!!!! I am kind of lucky. My hubby goes out on the road a few days after my surgery, so it will be just me and my son. My neighbor already offered to have him over for dinner that next week that I will be on liquids so I don't have to cook food. LOL

    Nervous about insurance approval

Don't worry until you have something to worry about. I know...easier said than done. I was exactly where you are a week ago.......plus I had to switch insurance and I was positive there would be a fight due to that. Insurance switched 1-1, Dr's office submitted 1-2, I was approved the morning of 1-4. Don't sweat it.
  13. Can you go for a walk while he is cooking and eating? Or maybe go to the gym? Or go to another room/floor to watch the news? Something so you don't have to smell it. LOL

    First appt

It will go faster than you think. I started my journey in October and I can't believe that I am scheduled to have my surgery on the 29th. I am looking forward to the same thing as you.....strengthening my back and legs enough where they do not hurt.

Oh that sucks so bad that you didn't have the PTO days!!! Mine just restarted, so i am lucky. Plus my boss made an exception and let me carry over a week from 2018 into this year for my surgery. I only get 3 weeks vacation per year, so that is nice. And holy **** how awesome of your boss to hire you a housekeeper!!!! That is just amazing!!!!! you are SO LUCKY. I've had surgery before that had me on lifting and bending restrictions, so my family knows the drill. I'm lucky there, BUT now there is only 1 kid left at home....luckily it is our youngest and he is by far momma's boy. LOL He is very helpful so when my husband goes back out on the road a few days after my surgery, he will step in to help. And my neighbor told me last night that she would have him over for dinner any night so I don't have to cook for him. LOL
  16. LMAO I already thought "Gee I can use my liberator for post-op recovery"

obsess is exactly it. I've already stocked up on everything I could need.....which my husband was not thrilled with. We went grocery shopping and I picked up a couple of bottles of G2, some different SF jellos, protein shakes, soups, etc. His comment was "I didn't realize you were having the surgery tomorrow". Really???? UGH If after all these years he doesn't know that I plan ahead for everything!!!

I had everything else done already except the EKG. I was definitely surprised that they had me doing all of the surgical paperwork there and registering already. That was actually nice and efficient. And now I wait. tap tap tap tap

SimoneMonet- How did work go today? I had my pre-op appt with my surgeon this morning! I am so excited!!! 20 days! I will only have the liquid diet for 24 hours before...THANK GOD. He had sent me to the other side of the office building to get my pre-op EKG taken care of and low and behold, it was also all my hospital admissions stuff. I did all my paperwork, insurance stuff, etc which was a nice surprise. So now all I have to do is wait for the phone call the day before of what time I am to arrive and then when I get there, I go straight up to the surgical ward.
  20. I taught myself. The 2 books that helped the most were Better Homes and Gardens crochet 1,2,3 and then Stitch & b***h The Happy Hooker (LMAO). BH&G had the better written instructions and S&B had the better pictures.
  21. I'm taking 2 weeks off and know I will be bored out of my gourd!!!! I figure I will take the dog on some short walks weather permitting, I've got a baby blanket I am crocheting too so I am sure I will get that finished. And who knows, depending on how I feel, I very well might go back to work a few days early.

    Best of luck to you!!!!!!!
  23. I got approved this morning. I am shocked that it only took 2 days. My surgery is the 29th. Best of luck to you on yours!!!!!
  24. I am hoping someone that also has Highmark can answer this for me. Once my surgeons office submits, will something show up on the Highmark website to show the paperwork was received? TIA
  25. Jenwill630

    Highmark Website question

I got antsy because vacation days needed to be scheduled for me and my husband, so i called Highmark. They said no, it would not show on the website BUT let me know that I was approved for January 29th. So that was good that I called. LOL And it only took 2 days to get approved too.
