100 lbs in under a year?

I honestly wish the side stats weren't a thing. It's basically asking people to compare to one another. Yes, I realize it's there to celebrate accomplishments and to show progress... but for people like me (and I'm sure there are A LOT)... it just makes me jealous and angry and harsh on myself.

100 lbs in under a year?

I'm a little different because I've always lost about 20lbs a month on diets... but then I quit and regain. SO... to lose 20lbs in a month is like nothing in my mind and I expect more.

    Stomach binder or no?

I had one after lipo and found it uncomfortable and unnecessary. I had zero issues walking around immediately after surgery; there was no discomfort. The only pain I had was slight muscle soreness which just felt like I did a bunch of situps.
  5. I was just told today that surgeons don't recommend gastric bypass to younger people because you have a longer lifespan of not getting enough nutrients (contraindicated for long-term risk and permanency), and it has a devastating impact when you are older. I have noticed that pretty much everyone I've met or talked to that had gastric is 40's or later. Anyone here in their 20's like me?

Body Composition Scale @ Surgeon Office

If anyone does get this scale, you gotta have the app open when you weigh yourself for your weight to sync. I forget to do that all the time and then my weight will decrease and I'll be like NOOOOOO it didn't record ittttt! lol. Sometimes it will still backup later mysteriously, but it's sketchy. You can also have multiple profiles, so multiple family members can use it.

Body Composition Scale @ Surgeon Office

I like it because it tells you how much of your weight is muscle and how much is fat. So, if I am still heavier than I'd like to be... but it's muscle mass... that's a good thing, versus it being body fat. All my personal trainers went by body fat percentage.

100 lbs in under a year?

Ugh. Your single word coerced me into scheduling an appointment. lmao. December 31st. Right before my deductible rolls over. Woot. lol.

100 lbs in under a year?

I didn't *intend* to do this as a quick fix, but part of me still can't help but wish it were true.

100 lbs in under a year?

Don't judge me. Haha. Ugh. I will go see him in a few months. My leave is wiped out totally from surgery and every month I accrue a day... and every month I have one surgical followup. I am walking a fine line of OMG I HOPE I NEVER GET SICK. I have to search for some random holiday that their office is open but we're closed (government).

100 lbs in under a year?

In the darker, realistic recesses of my brain, I anticipate reaching my goal in 18-24 months. But outside of that, I demand it within a year. =p

100 lbs in under a year?

I lost 60lbs in 5 months last year (and gained it all back, hence the surgery, LOL). I think part of my brain feels like I had the surgery so all of it will be instantaneous and that is insane. Overcoming that line of thinking is challenging.

100 lbs in under a year?

Sometimes I need some false hope that it's possible I, too, can lose that 100lbs in under a year. False hope isn't the right word... because it IS possible. I just don't see much negatives on weight being lost on this forum (except people like me right in the beginning complaining about slow weight loss. LOL)

100 lbs in under a year?

Honestly, and I know this is not good, but I haven't seen my neuroopthamologist in like... 6 months. He doesn't know I was pulled off the Diamox and will probably be pissed he hasn't been kept in the loop. He doesn't even know I had gastric bypass. But, all he ever did was push me to lose weight so... next time I do see him, maybe he will have something positive to say.

100 lbs in under a year?

Lab work doesn't indicate any dehydration, but I swear I would love to just have a permanent IV line stuck in me. LOL. I've drank about 10oz since 8am and feel very, very queasy. I keep trying to "force" more down despite that, because I know it's important.

100 lbs in under a year?

My surgeon tells me I am doing fine and that weight loss will pick up at month 4. But I still don't listen. lol. I can't help but see how much weight other people are losing, especially ones who had surgery in November, too, and be like WTF WHY NOT ME? HMPF.

100 lbs in under a year?

No, I was on Diamox so I felt permanently dehydrated and peed so much I needed to keep drinking to stay hydrated. If I didn't, my pee would start turning brownish, indicating that I wasn't getting enough in... because I'd keep peeing even if I didn't drink much. It was just natural to me to sip all day long, too. Never was told not to.

100 lbs in under a year?

Yeah, I am very below my water intake because it is so painful with my ulcer. They are satisfied with my 40-50oz a day right now until my ulcer heals. I am so used to pounding water... I used to be at 120oz + pre-op and now I am like a raisin. Everything is just so sensitive right now. I do drink hot water, which helps. I try to get in broth. Popsicles and stuff hurt because of the cold. I recently found a shake I can tolerate, so that's some more fluids. I can't wait til this stupid thing is gone so I can drink more! For some reason when I drink water, I feel like I want to vomit or get very nauseous, and it feels... lumpy?

    Life without NSAIDS?

Tylenol sucks. It helps with absolutely nothing, imo. Midol Complete doesn't have an NSAID in it. The extended release does, though. Not sure if that would help.
  20. How's everything going? Discharged, I hope? I *think* my ulcer is healing. It's so hard to tell with the Carfate masking much of the pain. There are definitely days where I really know it's still in there, gnawing away. I get nauseous after eating most things, but drinking it still the worst for some reason???? The doc *thinks* I should be healed up within the next 3-4 weeks, but I don't know.

Body Composition Scale @ Surgeon Office

But the BMR on this scale is not what the surgeon's scale says.. so it may not be calculating the metabolic age right. BUT... I'm pretty much just using it for weight/BMI/body fat tracking. The rest is just a random tidbit.

Body Composition Scale @ Surgeon Office

Yeah, it's an app you download when you get the scale. Metabolic age determines how efficient your body burns calories. It SHOULD be 2/3'rds of your actual age. So mine should be 20. O__O

Body Composition Scale @ Surgeon Office

Relatedly, I love my scale I got. It was super cheap on Amazon. And the weight is basically dead-on with the scale at the surgeon. The only thing that I remember that differs is the BMR, but whatever. It has bluetooth and syncs to your phone. It's a RENPHO scale.

Body Composition Scale @ Surgeon Office

I have one of these scales at home (and one at the surgeon's, of course). I can't remember what the one at the surgeon says, but looking at my phone tracker, my phone says I have 103.8 fat-free body mass and 97.6 muscle mass... which would be 44.8lbs of fat. But I have to lose 109 lbs to be at a normal body weight. I am 5'3 and 249.... someone who is 5'3" should be around 140 or less. It also says I am 58.3% body fat and normal is 26%. I wouldn't go by how much "body fat" it says you have, but whatever a healthy weight for your height and build would be. 86lbs would put you around 160, so that could be perfect for you coincidentally , given your build. I need to go a bit further than just the 44.8lbs my scale says. lol!
