How sweaty, out of breath should I be.

I got a cheapo generic "fitbit" off Amazon and it works just as well as the expensive FitBits. It tracks calories, sleep monitor, HR, steps, length of exercise, etc, and syncs to your phone and alerts you of calls and messages. It's called the LETSCOM Fitness Tracker and was 29 bucks. Battery lasts for days. Also has a camera on it. So you can photograph your sweaty self, I guess. lol. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CZZ5Z37/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    Bariatric and Alcoholism....

Transference addiction is completely a real thing. I have already noticed a habit of me going from overeating to purposefully undereating. Basically one eating disorder to another. It's something I'm trying to keep tabs on, since I am so soon post-op. A coworker's family member began drinking after surgery and later moved to heroin. Your brain looks for new ways to cope with underlying stressors that caused you to overeat or eat unhealthily to begin with. My surgeon and the rest of the team stressed that the rate of alcoholism is much higher in bariatric patients. They also said that patients are much more likely to engage in high-risk activities, like adrenaline sports (which I did find a little amusing). I was super-screened for any past history of alcohol or drug use. I was not much of a drinker beforehand, maybe a handful of times a year. I'm not sure I will ever try it, personally, because I am worried I may enjoy it a bit too much. I wish you the best of luck! My best friend is currently in inpatient rehab for alcoholism and is doing very well.

    3 weeks Post Op

I am 6 weeks out and sometimes get hungry, but if I just drink water it goes away. I didn't eat a single thing yesterday because of nausea and I was barely hungry, which really surprised me. When I do get hungry, the 2oz I am allowed to eat satisfies it.
  4. Trainers are awesome. I went to a hospital gym and the girl I had taught me so much with free weights and medicine balls. And now free weights are my favorite thing ever... not any of the machines! A YMCA trainer was also pretty awesome. Taught me how to properly use a bosu ball. I have a weight bench and tons of dumbbells at my house now and can get a full body workout with just that! (I have other equipment, too, though.)
  5. He doesn’t push any product or anything in the video. Like i previously said it’s really informative. Check it out.... He pushes his products in his other videos... I didn't watch this one.. but I watched a lot of his others.
  6. I watched a few of Dr. V's videos pre-op. Some of them I found helpful... but he pushes that green drink of his so hard... and most of the things in that drink my surgeon says I can't even have the rest of my life. lol. I say go by whatever your surgeon tells you. Mine says light cardio and now at 6 weeks I am cleared for lifting and strength training. One of our dietitians is also a personal trainer, and she is also all about getting active. Not overdoing it. They also said that since the surgery will only help you lose 65%-75%ish of your excess weight, you NEED to exercise to reach your goal... to get off that extra 20 or so pounds. Surgery and the new diet doesn't always help everyone lose 100% of the weight they need to. Even if you don't have surgery, diet alone typically doesn't get you 100% of the way there if you sit around like a sedentary lump or do the bare minimum.

    Let's talk poop.

I do feel a bit rumbly in there so hopefully I can avoid the other route. Will also be eating some greens today for the first time in forever today at our Xmas potluck so that may move things along, too.

    Let's talk poop.

Haha okay! The Miralax is so vague like... "may produce movement in 1-3 days" so... I didn't know if the suppository was quick or ... vague.

100 lbs in under a year?

Today marks my 6 weeks exactly and I am exactly 30lbs down from day of surgery. I do wish that we were all standardized in our weight loss rate so I could have a chart to follow. lol!

    PCOS and WLS

Yes I do have a question! lmao! HOW DID YOU DO IT!? lol! I am 6 weeks out and have only lost 30lbs. I feel like it's so slow!

    Puking: Post-Op vs. Pre-Op

My puking was definitely not noiseless. Loud heaving. But maybe because it was primarily dry-heaving from spasms and stomach acid and not just a bit of food coming up. I've regurgitated food once (little tiny bits and pieces) and that was noiseless. I don't consider that really vomiting though. It just... came back up quietly and grossly. lol.

Also, lesson learned... mixing Miralax in a soy shake makes it CLUMPY AND HORRIBLE. Dissolves in anything my a-s. I drank it anyways... in all its chunky glory.

    Let's talk poop.

So, I was looking at the box for the Fleet in the store and realized I would have to be a yoga instructor and about 50lbs lighter to reach in such a position, lmao, so I bought the glycerin suppositories. I am trying the Miralax and Colace for 2 days first... had some Miralax last night and started the Colace this a.m. If nothing happens by tomorrow, I'll do the suppository. Do you know how long those take to "work"? It doesn't say anything on the bottle.

    PCOS and WLS

My surgeon said that if I experience hair loss he will double my dose of bariatric vitamins and increase my protein requirements. I personally don't care about it either way. I take Biotin occasionally. I have an hourglass figure. I'm really not even sure I 100% have PCOS. All these docs just said that because I struggled so much losing weight and gained it VERY FAST. I don't really have any other signs except the acne. I guess we shall see when the labs come out. I had estrogen and testosterone tested a few months ago and those were normal.
  15. I love strength training... because it makes it so I can actually lift things and not feel like a weak noodle all the time. I don't care about it helping or not helping weight loss. I want to FEEL strong and healthy... not just be thin and weak. Plus, definition. I used to do 100 situps every morning before I went to my college classes (back when I was thin)... had an awesome 6-pack.

    Puking: Post-Op vs. Pre-Op

No shame in my poop game. I don't care if anyone hears. We all do it. lmao.

    Random Midnight Vomiting?

To be honest- having my gallbladder out was a breeze compared to my RNY surgery. But I have heard some have had the opposite experience! My mom had hers out "back in the day" when they did it open surgery and she said it was the most horrific experience of my life. I know that's not how they do it anymore... but that sentiment is stuck in my head. lol.

    Random Midnight Vomiting?

I took a Phenergan and a Pepcid about 45 min ago... still feeling very queasy. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Random Midnight Vomiting?

Nah, no pain. Although I am terrified of needing my gallbladder removed. I have gallstones but they just put me on Actigall for 6 months to dissolve new ones. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app
  20. I definitely understand. I can easily see myself flipping from overeating to undereating, especially if time progresses and I don't see the results I want. It's crossed my mind a number of times. Right now I'm good... I don't track because I do get obsessive, but I eat the exact same food every day basically so there's not much to track. That book applies across the board to all eating disorders, etc. It's pretty harsh and straight to the point, which I prefer personally. I always end up arguing with therapists, but I may go to one anyways just to "check in". Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Let's talk poop.

Well, I'm on the way to CVS to get some Fleet (BOOOOO) and some Miralax and to pick up my Phenergan. Will keep everyone posted re: my bowel movements because I know ya'll care. ❤️ lmao
  22. There's so many options now for keto... like cauliflower tots. Mmmm. lol! They have cauliflower friggin' everything now. Which is no substitute for the beloved potato, but it's doable. And sugar craving? A teaspoon of peanut butter and I'm good.

    Let's talk poop.

They said I should be all good. Recommended Miralax and Colace and if nothing happens "soon"... the dreaded enema. I may just skip to that to get it over with. Sigh. SIIIIGHHH. Hard sigh.

    PCOS and WLS

Ohhh just looked it up. I have a Mirena IUD in currently so couldn't take that simultaneously.
  25. I feel pretty lucky because I found a keto diet very easy to stick to. So, even long-term, I feel like I will be successful. I find my current bland puree easy to stick to, even. I just need to make sure I continue to keep my cravings themselves in check, which has been great thus far. But, as far as getting hungrier, I am down for eating meat meat meat! Lean meat, that is.
